Tasted by prasm on 9/5/2022 & rated 91 points: Consumed over 2 days (vacuvined and refrigerated), note from day 2. Appearance: Clear, medium ruby with very slight edge bricking. Nose: Clean, medium+ intensity with developed aromas of ripe blackberry and black raspberry, bell pepper, eucalyptus, and spice. Palate: Dry, medium+ acid and tannin, medium intensity, medium+ body, 14.3% abv, with flavors of spicy blackberry, bell pepper, and sweet tobacco with a medium+ finish. This is drinking exceptionally well, especially for an inexpensive mass produced Napa cabernet hitting on all cylinders - balance, length, intensity, and complexity. Drink now or over next 2-3 years.  Tasted by jayrod on 8/1/2022: Flawed, bummer!!!! (1268 views)
Tasted by jmottern on 7/14/2022 & rated 95 points: A most excellent bottle of wine. Smooth medium body (14.3%) dark red wine. Pleasant nose followed by licorice, black cherry and plum fruit. Satisfying finish. Needed 45 minutes to open. (1249 views)
Tasted by 64Chris on 4/30/2022: Always great! At 10 years this bottle = Awesome! (1436 views)
Tasted by levinml on 4/6/2022 & rated 91 points: Giving it a point higher than normal just because it's so reliable year after year. Great weeknight cab, tannins unobtrusive and good flavor and finish. House wine for years to come. (1495 views)
Tasted by Gian on 3/18/2022 & rated 88 points: Consistent with my previous notes (717 views)
Tasted by Gian on 1/16/2022 & rated 88 points: Nice Cabernet Sauvignon, dark and red fruits , smooth tannins , for my taste still too much present the wood frame (837 views)
Tasted by levinml on 9/1/2020 & rated 90 points: Continues to be the house weeknight cab. Unbelievable value and reliable drinking. Good taste, balance and enough stuffing that it seems like there’s something there there. Drink anytime. (2244 views)
Tasted by jmottern on 8/15/2020 & rated 91 points: Very nice full bodied wine. Nice nose followed by big black berry fruit with a hint of plum. Good finish. Interestingly, the fruit weakened relatively quickly as the wine opened. (1974 views)
Tasted by Kentw on 6/18/2020 & rated 90 points: Quite nice right now. Balanced, smooth, medium-plus weight. Very dark with Blackberry and black cherry notes and some mild mid-level spice with a long finish. (2157 views)
Tasted by wqsadler on 5/16/2020 & rated 81 points: Didn't live up to the hype. Ok but not great (2237 views)
Tasted by prasm on 4/26/2020 & rated 90 points: Pop and pour, consumed over 2 hours. Nose: Medium intensity, plum, blackberry, and spice. Palate: Medium-full bodied, dark fruit - blackberry and plum - attack, pleasing menthol notes appear through the mid-palate, earthy tones join in the back-end and linger through a 30-45 second finish. Quite pleasing for mass produced California Cabernet, good QPR. (2178 views)
Tasted by bmckenney on 4/8/2020 & rated 91 points: In a great spot now. Some bottles need time to open up and some not. I'm drinking the last couple this year. I should have waiting for all of them to reach this age instead of drinking any earlier This one was ready to go. Beautiful deep garnet color. Classic cab nose. And super delicious. Can be drunk solo or do it with some protein. With the bottle time smoothing it out I find it pairs really well with aged cheese. (1318 views)
Tasted by EllisWine on 4/4/2020 & rated 92 points: Delicious very very delicious
Big full fruit some gentle oak huge mouthfeel gentle happy finish no tannins just a smile (1274 views)
Tasted by MPBC on 3/4/2020 & rated 88 points: Nice Cabernet. Thought it might be past peak, but I was pleasantly surprised. Nose of stewed blackberry and licorice. Tastes of black cherry and pepper. Medium body and finish with smooth, well integrated tannins. Was able to pop and pour - wouldn't decant this at this age. (1176 views)
Tasted by Kentw on 2/29/2020 & rated 90 points: Age has improved this wine. Drank it over several years. Drank in 2014 and it was too dense and tannic. In 2017 it started to become more balanced with the tannin more subdued. Improved somewhat since then. Dark, rich and bold yet balanced. 90+. (1054 views)
Tasted by Drinker Diary on 9/20/2019 & rated 92 points: ★★★★½
(1843 views)
Tasted by SchlaepDog on 6/28/2019 flawed bottle: Past peak. Sweet and cloying inching toward oxidation. Not worth drinking. (1800 views)
Tasted by levinml on 4/13/2019 & rated 90 points: This continues to be one of the best weeknight wines ever, vintage after vintage. Just nice, easy drinking early and often. Get more 15 and 16 vintages. (1984 views)
Tasted by jmottern on 2/12/2019 & rated 88 points: Nice bottle of cabernet. Not as good as the first bottle last month but still good. Fruit was not as big as the last bottle. (2103 views)
Tasted by Zed57 on 1/15/2019 & rated 92 points: Surprisingly complex with a seriously good texture and just enough spice to keep it interesting. Surprised me. In a really good spot. (2136 views)
Tasted by Winowhyno on 1/7/2019 & rated 90 points: Nice grape for $25.00 Definitely improved with an extra 2 years in cellar. Wish I had more at that price. (1886 views)
Tasted by mflesh on 1/5/2019 & rated 89 points: Opened tonight. This wine is giving it everything it has. But stops just shy of 90. You can tell the best barrels go into the KVR which is worthy of 9.3+ at its best. However, I feel this bottle would be insanely less interesting if consumed 4 years ago when I bought it. It has come into its prime. Nose of black cherry and some floral character. Very Franc-ish and probably the best character of this wine. Entry is black cherry, medium bodied. Middle of the wine is a bit devoid. Finishes with a hint of spice, hint of black pepper, slight acidity, tannins have definitely integrated. Drink now. (1711 views)
Tasted by Angle Gold on 9/15/2018 & rated 91 points: Absolutely enjoyed this. Typical cabernet with a healthy balance of green pepper tannin and dark fruit. What I expected from Knights Valley. (1915 views)
Tasted by ThalesGaspar on 8/3/2018 & rated 89 points: Less fruit and less vanilla than the bottles drunk younger. Still a good wine. Drink soon. (2225 views)

Cabernet Sauvignon

Cabernet Sauvignon is probably the most famous red wine grape variety on Earth. It is rivaled in this regard only by its Bordeaux stablemate Merlot, and its opposite number in Burgundy, Pinot Noir. From its origins in Bordeaux, Cabernet has successfully spread to almost every winegrowing country in the world. It is now the key grape variety in many first-rate New World wine regions, most notably Napa Valley, Coonawarra and Maipo Valley. Wherever they come from, Cabernet Sauvignon wines always seem to demonstrate a handful of common character traits: deep color, good tannin structure, moderate acidity and aromas of blackcurrant, tomato leaf, dark spices and cedarwood.

Used as frequently in blends as in varietal wines, Cabernet Sauvignon has a large number of common blending partners. Apart from the obvious Merlot and Cabernet Franc, the most prevalent of these are Malbec, Petit Verdot and Carmenere (the ingredients of a classic Bordeaux Blend), Shiraz (in Australia's favorite blend) and in Spain and South America, a Cabernet – Tempranillo blend is now commonplace. Even the bold Tannat-based wines of Madiran are now generally softened with Cabernet Sauvignon

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson
