Tasted by Alwolf on 6/25/2011 & rated 91 points: Very resiliant. thought it mght be on the downside, but drinking well. Still good fruit there and just a very good wine (2047 views)
Tasted by Winecat on 4/15/2011 & rated 88 points: On first opening a little bitter, mellows with time in the glass. Cherry and dark fruits are prominent. Chewy ripe tannins. A lot of sediment - should decant. (1611 views)
Tasted by GrapeGrower2009 on 11/25/2010 & rated 91 points: Very smooth. Went well with Thanksgiving dinner. (1837 views)
Tasted by 2winos on 11/21/2010 & rated 85 points: Cab opened for Standing Rib dinner. Wine smooth with good flavor on front of tongue but weak on finish. Very likely I waited a year or two too long. (1941 views)
Tasted by Anonymous on 7/29/2008 & rated 88 points: nice dark color with aromas of aged dark fruit, stewed veggies, and earth-full with flavors of darkfruit, cassis, and a pinch of cedar box finishing dry. Very basic with good varietal character. (2228 views)
Tasted by Roentgen Ray on 5/3/2008 & rated 91 points: I am learning why people go to such lengths to properly age wine. This wine was a solid Cab when I purchased it from the winery in August of 2004. However, with just a few years under its belt, it has come into its own. The color was garnet with still a little ruby glitter. The aromatics were expressive, bing cherry, spice, a little wood and a belt of black currant. The wine was structured up front, but light on the palate with a spiced medium-fine grained finish. A teaspoon of sediment on the final poor. I tried pairing the wine with grilled lamb chops with a currant-stock reduction, but the two did not pair well. The lamb needed something with bright fruit and acidity, I think a Garnacha would have been a better pairing. Nonetheless, the wine was a fantastic prelude to the meal, and nice to sip on following the repast. (1694 views)
Tasted by jgdavis on 3/4/2008 & rated 92 points: Drinking well. Very smooth (1830 views)
Tasted by wtstover on 7/13/2005 & rated 89 points: A strong taste of green olives, but definitely better as it opened up. There was a lot of sediment, so I would recommend decanting and filtering the wine before drinking (2684 views)
Tasted by johnnywebs on 4/14/2005 & rated 88 points: Lovely Cali Cab for the money. Clear ruby, medium body. Ringing, slightly alcoholic nose that nicely balances bell pepper, big bowl of black fruit, a bit of tar and a leather catcher's mitt that's been worked with mink oil for years. Plush mouthfeel that is backed by a nice brace of acidity. The only thing that detracts is too much bitterness on the back end. The finish is fine, if not overly long. I should have held on for a couple more years but what are you gonna do?

Second night was much better (91). The nose really exploded with more of the above. The plushness became very pronounced and some of the bitterness seems to have dissipated. An evidence point for decanting! (2695 views)
Tasted by Anonymous on 11/12/2004 & rated 90 points: Big nose of cassis and bacon. A sturdy masculine wine with nice acidity, loads of rasberry and blackberry, some green olive and cedar intertwined. Medium long finish, with chewy but ripe tannins. A great foil with grilled steaks, and a bargain at 20 bucks. (2868 views)
Tasted by peternelson on 1/3/2004 & rated 88 points: Heritage: Nice dark berry, mushrooms, pretty smooth, berry mth, nice somple cab., great price! (538 views)
Tasted by Vino Me on 11/25/2003 & rated 89 points: Very good. The tannins were firm and hid some of the fruit but I still detected currant, pepper and berry notes. 89-90. (3031 views)

California Wines (Wine Institute of California)

California is one of the most diverse wine regions in the world, with almost 100 grape varieties grown in over 100 viticultural areas, including dozens of different microclimates and soil types, as well as a very individualistic set of winemakers, many with international experience, which adds to and deepens that diversity.
