| Community Tasting Notes (average 91.3 pts. and median of 91 pts. in 5 notes) - hiding notes with no text | | Tasted by kostaslonis on 3/21/2016 & rated 92 points: Dry River Pinot Noir Vertical Tasting and a few others (Le Petit Sommelier): The nose is explosive, full ripe red and black fruit, raisin, sultana, dried fruit, full spice showing a nice overall decadent profile. The palate is quite more aggressive, pronounced acidity, sultana, dried red fruit, dates, chocolate and coffee bits, quite dense, alcohol infused (14.9%) long finish. Outstanding quality, drink now and for me this is the best of the three Zinfandels (1566 views) | | Tasted by gutt22 on 5/24/2009: 14.9% alcohol. As has always been the case when I've encountered these three component bottlings of the 2003 Geyserville, this was my favorite again. The most complete wine of the bunch, with a compelling red- and black-fruited nose, tinged with spice and earth. In the mouth, more vibrant and racy, with terrific acidity and a long finish. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.California2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson Sonoma CountyMendocino CountySonoma CountySonoma Coast |
