Tasted by jasonh on 4/7/2011 & rated 80 points: Strange color. Seems to be turning orange. The wine is oxidizing but also has the smell of creme brûlée. I assume there is a fair amount of RS on this. It is slightly cloying. Flavors of cream pie. The acid is there but the sweetness stays in front of it. I know this probably wasn't meant to go beyond a few years but wanted to see where it ended up. Where it ended up was, not terrible but not very interesting. Should have only enjoyed it as a summer sipper back in 2007. (1093 views)
Tasted by T.J.Burn on 7/18/2008 & rated 90 points: I had a bottle of this back in March and either a few months or different culinary co-stars made all the difference. Really nice Chardonnay, good floral and pear notes, with a little citrus and the right amount of butter for me. While the last bottle was oddly acidic for a Chard, this one was balanced and had a great mouthfeel. Wish I had more. (1539 views)
Tasted by T.J.Burn on 3/28/2008 & rated 87 points: Good fruit and acidity, but a little lacking in body and typical chardonnay character. (1588 views)
Tasted by drcbarroso on 10/17/2007 & rated 90 points: TB: Light yellow in color. Drinking very well right now, showing notes of white pepper, vanilla, and flowers. Nice acidity and a nice, medium length finish. Very nice pairing with Drunken Goat cheese and crackers. (1651 views)
Tasted by MLwine on 9/23/2007 & rated 89 points: Nicely balanced wine. Solid fruit and solid acidity. Very pleasant and very drinkable. (1521 views)
Tasted by rjonwine@gmail.com on 5/31/2007 & rated 89 points: Rosella’s Vineyard Pinots Blindtasted (Roar, Testarossa and Siduri) (Tom's House, Palo Alto, CA): Pale yellow color; clean, floral and faintly stone fruit nose; creamy texture, with sweet, rich fruit, a little one-dimensional now, but may show more complexity with time; medium hot finish (907 views)
Tasted by PatLee on 4/27/2007: Nice pear, stone fruit, and citrus on the palate. Light acidity with some citrus zing on the finish. A nice little wine for a warm summer day. (1483 views)
Tasted by Colima74 on 3/31/2007 & rated 88 points: Only white at Rosella's tasting...hint of RS, especially on finish... Not bad, but I like the acidity of the Keefer Ranch better..... (1175 views)
Tasted by Frank Murray III on 3/31/2007: OC Virtual Rosella's Syrah Tasting (OC and Virtual For Parker BB): A little sweet for me. Some viscosity and lemon custard. A good wine to encourage your date to be frisky. (1704 views)
Tasted by JonnyB on 2/19/2007 & rated 89 points: Bought this back in August and finally decided to try one, great QPR, moderate complexity and fresh fruit (pear), balanced acidity and a tiny bit sweet, clean finish. Tank raised with no oak. (1225 views)
Tasted by Tejano on 2/14/2007 & rated 89 points: A light straw color with a little hint of gold...and a better nose this time around...pleasing ripe melon and some stone fruit with a citrus backing. This is all about the fruit...in its own way...a straight chard with what seems to be no wood influence. There is a pronounced sweetness, but that does have a counterbalance on the mid palate and finish. Very refreshing...which is an odd thing to say about a chard from me. (1205 views)
Tasted by topher18 on 2/3/2007 & rated 88 points: Delicious! Very light straw color. Tropical fruit aromas. Opens with much more acidity ad sweetness than I'm used to in chardonnay, reminiscent of a riesling. (I am generally a red wine drinker, so I don't have much experience with chards.) The sweetness fades quickly as the finish broadens into more classic chard flavors. My wife, who has sworn off chardonnay after having so many cheap, over-oaked ones at parties, really liked this one. (1267 views)
Tasted by A&B on 2/1/2007 & rated 86 points: Round and with some RS, tropical fruit, canned pineapple jucie. A little to ripe. (1317 views)
Tasted by onyx1361 on 1/20/2007: Fantastic wine - if you like chards w/o maloactic fermentation this one's for you. Floral notes on the nose as well as a bit of parm regg. Crisp finish -I'd like to drink this one again. (1293 views)
Tasted by Tejano on 12/16/2006 & rated 89 points: Light straw color with a hint of gold...and bear with me here as we went thru two bottles and both of them on opening had a nose of horse p***. Great thing was that it did blow off rather quickly, leaving some stone fruit on the nose with maybe a little honeydew and a few random floral notes. This is the sweetest chard I have ever ejnoyed, with a in time a subtle counterbalance of sharp fruit, leaving a nice finish. (1346 views)
Tasted by budman on 11/30/2006 & rated 90 points: Pears, spice, and a touch of sweetness (in a good way) in this well-made pleasant wine. (1496 views)
Tasted by thomaskeil on 11/25/2006 & rated 89 points: Nice blend of fruits and spice. Lots of pear with some honeyed peach. Palate starts with sweetness and finishes with some acid. Well made and a pleasure to drink. (1432 views)
Tasted by tederf on 9/9/2006 & rated 89 points: Gotta get some more of this. No MLF - fermented in steel. Good balance with enough acit to handle a variety of food, lots of white fruit aroma and taste. Peach flavor which does linger on the taste buds. (1550 views)
Tasted by jbposell on 7/26/2006 & rated 89 points: Upon opening, it struck me as a bit too sweet, but with an interesting blend of spices, honey, and the pears/apples thing Jason mentions in the '04. Now that it has been open for an hour or so, the sweetness has diminished, but a bit of heat has replaced it. The nose is a mix of pineapple and pear, with a hint of flowers (dunno what kind) and, oddly enough, sea breeze. Certainly a nice wine, esp given the temps these days in LA, but I think I agree that it could do with more time in the bottle. Still, I am a happy guy and for the $18 price tag, this is a winner.  Tasted by tomlbs on 6/12/2006 & rated 89 points: The 2005 Rosella has a wonderfull nose of ripe pears, spices and a whiff of vanilla. The palatte is consistent with the nose ending with a long enjoyable finish. As with past Rosellas, this wine is nicely balanced yet showcases the fruit. Enjoy this wine over the next twelve months. The Chardonnay Grape

Rosella's Vineyard

In 1996, Gary Franscioni planted the 50-acre Rosella’s Vineyard, named for his wife, on their estate property just 1½ miles north of Garys’ Vineyard in the Santa Lucia Highlands Appellation of Monterey County. We have been sourcing grapes from this vineyard site since 2005 and believe that Rosella’s Vineyard, with Gary Franscioni’s exceptional farming practices, produces a unique wine representing the best of the Santa Lucia Highlands. Santa Lucia Highlands has proven to be a world class appellation, and we are proud to offer a wine from this great vineyard.

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson
