Tasted by oldcabman on 2/22/2024 & rated 88 points: Nothing special, but lovely balance and proper acidity for a Sangiovese-based blend.
Nice food wine - served with rich pasta baked in Alfredo sauce with mushrooms. (711 views)
Tasted by jnewman77 on 9/28/2023: This has definitely improved since my bottle in 2018, but its still not ready for my taste; the nose is more open with lovely red cherry fruit, hints of mint and spice, a touch of orange peel; the palate however remains a bit tight with structure still kind of holding things back for me; it was good with a tasty and rich homemade lasagna, but still could benefit from more time. Hopefully by age 15 it will be in the zone. Hold minimum 3 more years for me. (1232 views)
Tasted by jnewman77 on 3/30/2023 flawed bottle: Corked…. (1557 views)
Tasted by Diane (LI) on 2/18/2023: Savory, with bright cherry flavors, and firm tannins. Is great with the right food, and I had it with chicken scarpariello. Was excellent together. (1700 views)
Tasted by J B McDonald on 1/10/2023 & rated 90 points: Lovely. Worth the wait. (1857 views)
Tasted by cannym on 10/8/2022 & rated 88 points: Lovely mid ruby. quite restrained, a little thin still. Cherry and spices. Good acidity. Some slightly grainy tannins. Hoping this will fill out and open some time. (1949 views)
Tasted by vinhonotte on 3/26/2022 & rated 91 points: Praelum - Central Italy Grand Tasting (Praelum Wine Bistro): Pale garnet with orange edges. Aromas of cherry, rose and cocoa, and cinnamon. A good punch of tannins, and flavours of tart sour cherry, purple flowers and brine. Quite persistent (1891 views)
Tasted by Rechrom on 12/8/2021 & rated 93 points: No detailed notes, but lovely and in balance and drinking very well. (2582 views)
Tasted by Rechrom on 11/10/2021 & rated 93 points: Drinking well out of my passive cellar after a double decant. Excellent savory fruit in excellent balance. Works great with food and great alone. Very user friendly and lovely bottle. Time left, glad I have more. (2363 views)
Tasted by Finare Vinare on 10/9/2021 & rated 91 points: First time we drink the '13. Still youthful, with high-altitude and cool-vintage (=barely ripe) Sangio aromatics. Lean, fresh and light-bodied with transparent fruit, unremarkable alcohol and low levels of mildly astringent tannins. Not very long, albeit nicely drinkable, elegant and certainly refreshing. Should flesh out and reveal some complexity in a couple of years, although it might lack the concentration needed for extended ageing. We'd expected a wee bit more. (2941 views)
Tasted by 560 B&W on 10/4/2021 & rated 94 points: Just lovely stuff. (2355 views)
Tasted by 560 B&W on 2/12/2021 & rated 93 points: Racy, lovely & complex. 12.5%. Decanted and barely ready. (3030 views)
Tasted by Lionshield on 10/1/2020 & rated 91 points: Farven er dyb rød.

(92-94) points Vinous. (3078 views)
Tasted by vespa110 on 5/31/2020 & rated 91 points: rubino intenso, naso ciliegia, fragoline di bosco, leggera volatile e qualche cenno speziato, bocca fresca con acidità marcata, frutto come naso e finale piacevole che invoglia il sorso. (3220 views)
Tasted by dpc123 on 5/7/2020 & rated 92 points: Slow-oxed for a few hours. Started out completely shut down and over the course of the evening evolved into the elegant Sangiovese that Montevertine is. Plenty of life/upside left but this was a tasty bottle (3223 views)
Tasted by cannym on 4/23/2020 & rated 88 points: Good ruby colour. Quite closed. Plenty of finesse but not that powerful. Dark cherries. Fine tannins. Plenty acidity. Think this might just need a bit longer. Not that exciting right now. (3043 views)
Tasted by M.Batard on 3/29/2020 & rated 91 points: Poured through venturi. Deep rich ruby color. Cherry fruit with tea sidelight. Plenty of acidity. Lots of tannins, and wished I’d waited longer. For now, needs food, and deserved better than our spaghetti bolognese. Perhaps I can hang onto last bottle until maturity! (2708 views)
Tasted by GArpaia on 1/31/2020: Supersmooth. A noble dame in menopause. Elegant, classy with a fading fruit profile. The fruit (cherries) is not fresh and crunchy though sweet spices are still pronounced. Drink soonest. (2667 views)
Tasted by Nick4378 on 1/11/2020 & rated 91 points: Bright cherry nose with a little pen ink. Quite primary on the palate now with fair amount of red cherries & lingering notes of tea leaves. Quite a light frame for Sangiovese and the grippy tannins make this a great food wine. Perfect with Pizza. (2611 views)
Tasted by Markus IWC on 4/16/2019 & rated 93 points: Härligt mogen "chianti" från super producenten Montevertine. 93-94p (1959 views)
Tasted by KRKacs on 3/24/2019: This was definitely pretty closed initially and took the entire meal to open up some. When it finally did, the nose was bright cherry, with some graphite/rockiness that I often find in Radda. Also some notes of black licorice and game. Very nice acid, but not overly tannic. This is probably closed up for now and needs time to re-emerge. (3556 views)
Tasted by frenchiecagowine on 12/27/2018: Brief tasting note. I won’t put any rating as this wine didn’t show it’s true face in my opinion. Not as aromatic as I remember it, it felt tight and austere. I think it entered a sleeping phase and needs to wait a few years. (3428 views)
Tasted by jnewman77 on 12/21/2018: This seems a bit closed at the minute. Took an hour before the nose showed much of anything and then was still tight. The palate shows hints of the potential but is really still very closed. Needs 4-5 years minimum. (3202 views)
Tasted by sung251 on 4/8/2018 & rated 90 points: Drank this few weeks ago at restaurant, Italic. Powerful wine that is well balanced with great acidity, structure, and fruit. Although it is delicious it is still quite primary and really needs sometime to get more complexity. A fantastic food wine and paired really well with my margarita pizza. (4407 views)
Tasted by Voodoo_Champagne on 3/17/2018: Decanted for 3 hours, Zalto Bordeaux glass, light color, nose very fine spices, taste again very light , maybe too light or just muted, will taste later in 5 years. (4551 views)

Sangiovese Blend

Sangiovese blend is used in CellarTracker for Italian wines to represent wines predominantly made of Sangiovese and blended with traditional Italian grapes. It is different than SuperTuscan which is a blend of Sangiovese with non-traditional (eg Bordeaux) varieties, often in closer to equal portions. For example, Chianti is at least 80% Sangiovese and will always be listed Sangiovese blend.
