Tasted by Burgundy Al on 6/9/2021 flawed bottle: Acker's Post-COVID BYO, Dinner and Auction Simulcast (Craft - New York NY): Totally oxidized, undrinkable (2731 views)
Tasted by bill00 on 12/20/2020 & rated 97 points: Exceptional bottle. Perfectly mature with no oxidation. Beautifully balanced palate with creamy smoothness and nice acid. A real treat and one of the best 40+ year old champagnes I've had (especially from 750). (2040 views)
Tasted by tinybubbles on 8/1/2020 & rated 97 points: From magnum. Light pear and apple notes with underlying dusty soil and ginger tones. Still moderate spritz. Great bottle. (2161 views)
Tasted by MC2 Wines on 12/12/2019: Acker's 1970's Holiday Champagne Dinner (Atera - 77 Worth Street in NYC): Man am I a Krug person. These are just awesome. This is like all spice and a bit more root stock or something more branch style (like a woodsy note). It's very tasty. (2683 views)
Tasted by tinybubbles on 5/18/2019 & rated 94 points: Bottle was beginning to show signs of oxidation but had the weight to carry it well. Long finish. 94- (2699 views)
Tasted by FYC on 7/31/2018: Very much still alive. Plenty of caramel notes, a certain roasted nuttiness and honey sweetness. The bubbles and effervescence is still present. Acidity is there which picks up over the next 2 hours. For me aged champagne isn't about power and fruit but the complexity and nuances that only come with age. Just a wonderful drink right now and cheers to the previous owner who kept it under such pristine conditions. (1894 views)
Tasted by Kemo Sabe on 6/20/2017 & rated 94 points: Wow - amazing acidity. Really fresh and vibrant. Much more so than the 75 and 79 in the next glass. Nuanced and balanced. An impressive amount of fruit in this wine for a 73 and drinks much younger. Great showing tonight. (2734 views)
Tasted by Jeremy Holmes on 1/2/2017: Still has a faint prickle of fizz. There's some caramel, brulee, grilled nuts, Indian spice and toast. It is rich and powerful with good acid line. with air it breathes up to show some honey and orchard fruits. (3102 views)
Tasted by fcxj on 8/5/2016 & rated 90 points: 1993 Burgundy dinner. Old label, which was neat. Told this was overly mature, but enjoyable nonetheless. Still wine, no effervescence. (2927 views)
Tasted by BradE on 4/23/2015: We had the 73 Krug along side the 73 Collection. Both are insanely good champagnes. Initially the Collection outpaced the vintage. But as is typical with good provenance old bottles, after a while the vintage cruised past its sibling, at least for me. That wasn't unanimous, and a slight majority favored the Collection up to the end. (3660 views)
Tasted by tinybubbles on 4/22/2015 & rated 98 points: Impeccable bottle. Light funk at first on the nose yielding to yeasty notes, saline aromas, bright fruit and faint nuttiness. On the palate this wine exhibited the intriguing combination of light cola notes, slight salinity and smooth wood and nuttiness on the backpalate. Showed incrementally more complexity than the 73 Collection. A great experience and my wine of the night. (3468 views)
Tasted by Russell Faulkner on 1/27/2013: To celebrate the arrival of Hugo Faulkner (aged 4 days), a wine with 40 years age.

Popped with a sigh and a faint vapour trail, poured with a soft mousse and a mid amber colour.

A rich nose of forest fruits, almost black forest, very, very Krug though.

Some tertiary oak notes, but a rich cherry fruit and fresh bakers yeast attack. A prickle in the mouth, but soft. Lovely gentlemanly wine with real persistent character.

My oldest Krug, this has clearly been looked after, still lively sour acidity, bought via Bonhams in 2009. (4136 views)
Tasted by lepetitchateau on 12/31/2011 & rated 85 points: This wine has had some tough days in the past. Tasted like sherry. (4403 views)
Tasted by BradE on 2/14/2011: Gorgeous. Fresh. Loved it. Find more. (4448 views)
Tasted by lepetitchateau on 10/15/2010 & rated 93 points: From Magnum: Fresh, mild bubbles with good yeasty minerally notes. The acidity is quite firm. Still youthful and mildly powerful in this format. (per se) (3418 views)
Tasted by King Angry on 10/28/2009: Color of it looked great in the bottle, but there was some seepage showing after the foil was removed. I was pretty bummed for I never want a wine I bring to not show well, but I certainly didn't want a bottle of Krug not show well in this company. Much relief when I tasted this outstanding bottle with somewhat subdued effervescene, but a plethora of pure fruit with the mature nuances of butterscotch and a touch of marshmallow. A perfect night cap to a fantastic and extremely interesting evening. Staggering plus. (4951 views)

France - When it comes to wine, France stands alone. No other country can beat it in terms of consistent quality and diversity. And while many of its Region, Bordeaux, Burgundy and Champagne most obviously, produce wine as rare, as sought-after and nearly as expensive as gold, there are just as many obscurities and values to be had from little known appellations throughout the country. To learn everything there is to know about French wine would take a lifetime. To understand and appreciate French wine, one only has to begin tasting them. Sub-Region:

Champagne - The French region of Champagne (including the cities of Rheims, Épernay, and Aÿ) was the first region in the world to make sparkling wine in any quantity. Today, the name of the region is synonymous with the finest of all sparkling wines, and wine-making traditions of Champagne have become role models for sparkling wine producers, worldwide. Surprisingly, the region of Champagne is now responsible for only one bottle in 12 of all sparkling wine produced. Styles of champagne range in sweetness ranging from an extra brut or brut 0, to the basic brut to demi sec to doux; some houses produce single vintage champagnes and others produce non-vintage (or incorporate wines/grapes of multiple vintages), often to preserve a specific taste; combinations of grape varietals; and colors, including a rosé. There are several sub-appellations, including the Valley of the Marnes river running from Épernay west, Massif de Saint-Thierry north and west of Rheims, Valley of the Ardre, the Mountains of Rheims (between Rheims and Épernay), Côte des Blancs, Côte de Sézanne, and Côte des Bar in the South. Champagne wine only uses three grape varietals (cépages): Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Meunier.
