Tasted by #1 or #2? on 3/23/2023 & rated 94 points: my last bottle, last entry on this bottling/vintage. clearly some variation in quality of cork with this wine as i've had trouble with them in the past including this past xmas holiday (no tasting note on that occasion) but this cork came out in perfect condition. the '04 doix vinyes velles continues to defy its age, absolutely firing on all cylinders. beautifully complex, great depth, lots of appeal. (437 views)
Tasted by #1 or #2? on 5/25/2022 & rated 94 points: cork 1/3 stained… initially, out of the wine fridge @12c/54f, the nose and palate were v muted, so a good reminder to be patient. similar notes to prior bottles but on this occasion, a pronounced soy aroma. once up in temp, this wine delivers in spades. beautiful mature priorat, lots of savoury character, wood and spice but some blackberry and plum too. and still some good tannic grip on the finish. love. (959 views)
Tasted by DoubleMagnum on 4/30/2022 & rated 94 points: Definitely showing more depth and complexity than the 2001 we had by its side. More development, silkier tannins and longer finish. This bottle won that battle. Drink on the short term. (1080 views)
Tasted by Nate Dauphin on 3/21/2022 & rated 94 points: A beautiful wine drinking very well at this stage of its life. I wouldn't hold for much longer as I feel this wine is on the plateau about to begin declining, however it should drink well for the next decade.

Great structure and dark fruit. The classic Priorat nose is distinctly part of this wine with a slate(y) minerality and hint of licorice. Sweet tobacco and dried plum were on the finish for me which was quite long.

An impressive wine from a and impressive vintage and, you guessed it, an impressive producer. (1040 views)
Tasted by SonOfBarolo on 3/20/2022 & rated 94 points: Impressive complexity, depth. (995 views)
Tasted by StainedGlass on 3/11/2022 & rated 88 points: Dark almost black inky purple. Subdued nose. Lots of oak and tannins, some tar but the purple black fruit has faded. Cellar stored since purchase, but past its best IMO. (809 views)
Tasted by Uncle Victor on 6/12/2021 & rated 94 points: Enjoyed with #1 or #2 on the patio tonight, celebrating finally being able to share the love of wine with friends. My first experience with this wine and colour me converted. Lovely nose of dark fruit, huckleberry jam, cigar box, tilled soil, sage. Hits the palate a bit thin but the body builds to a crescendo. Plenty of acidity and well integrated tannins. Long finish with lingering notes of dark chocolate covered cherries, an unexpected dessert! Thanks for sharing the experience. (1367 views)
Tasted by #1 or #2? on 6/12/2021 & rated 94 points: …here we go again. this time alongside an ‘04 opus one. firing on all cylinders. jammy nose, fruit fwd, with woody earthy notes, cigar box, spices in support. palate is full, round, soft. well-integrated tannins build and hold nicely on the long finish. (1141 views)
Tasted by roelronken on 4/27/2021 & rated 93 points: Great wine and in a perfect drinking spot at the moment - wouldn't keep this much longer. Jammy, truffle, tar and red fruit (kirsch). (1206 views)
Tasted by Topper on 3/18/2021 & rated 92 points: This was my last bottle and I think there is little reason not to drink these up now. Bright yummy red fruit with streaks of tobacco and tar. Great example of mature priorat. (1457 views)
Tasted by #1 or #2? on 1/22/2021 & rated 94 points: ...it's been a month since my last one of these. excellent again. opened and sipped this straight out of the cellar so it needed a few minutes to come up in temp before all its qualities were on full display. much like the last bottle, this impresses with its big dark berry fruit up front and woody, spicy, tobacco and tarry notes in support. soft and plush, it finishes long. (1356 views)
Tasted by #1 or #2? on 12/22/2020 & rated 95 points: wow. i happened upon this in a small local liquor store and hummed and hawed about picking it up because it was stored standing upright (and who knows for how long?!). sure enough, the cork came apart during extraction. the wine unharmed though. stunning. really impressive nose of blackberries, currants, asian spices, damp earth, tar. it's rich, full bodied and perfectly balanced from start to finish. (1126 views)
Tasted by Topper on 6/25/2020 & rated 94 points: Very good wine, still quite big and flavorful. Bright red fruit with dried cherries, caramel and tona of grip. Could still use an hour decant and being paired with rich, flavorful food. (1521 views)
Tasted by AWBryce on 10/5/2019: Bright medicinal fruit, potent nose, tight palate, bright acidity and long red berry fruit. (696 views)
Tasted by Mark van Delft on 3/9/2019 & rated 95 points: Cedar, blackberries, graphite, espresso, full body, jam, so many layers, great balance, very powerful, I like (1924 views)

Tasted by ONEFIVE on 12/25/2018: Pnp.
Aromas of red and black fruit. Subtle hint of sweet spice, cassis, and tobacco.
On the palate this is wonderful. Taught and powerful for a 14 year old wine. Clean and fresh flavors with beautiful acidity to keep everything in check. This will need some serious air to open up. (1717 views)
Tasted by Mark van Delft on 11/3/2018 & rated 95 points: Wine Event Bo: 95 - WOTN for me, dark forrest fruit, medium to full body, herbs, great balance between acidity and sweatness. Dark chocolate, dark cherries, superb long aftertaste (1805 views)
Tasted by SteelerFan on 8/27/2018 & rated 90 points: Very good, but not great. A bit brooding. (1689 views)
Tasted by aknot13 on 7/22/2017 & rated 88 points: Not sure what is going on here - quite one dimensional and a short finish. Did improve after some hours but was never a great bottle. Too old or bad storage? Huge disappointment at € 75/bottle. (1930 views)
Tasted by SaschaT on 2/16/2017 & rated 90 points: Nase nach Beeren, leider recht eindimensional evtl. schlechten Zeitpunkt erwischt (2042 views)

Tasted by Kemo Sabe on 12/6/2015 & rated 93 points: Gave it about an hour decant. Easily could have used 2-3. Luch, rich and smooth. Very nice flavors and good balance. This is a big wine. Yet old world and old school wine making. Very deep purple color. In a great spot right now but further development is certainly likely. (2238 views)

Vinos de España - Wines of Spain (Instituto Español de Comercio Exterior) | Wikipedia
Wine Map on weinlagen-info

Spain is the third largest wine producing nation in the world, occupying the majority of the Iberian Peninsula with vast diversity in climate, culture, and of course, wine. From inky, dark reds of the [Priorat] to dry, white Finos from Andalusia, Spain can easily boast of elaborating a wide variety of notable styles. Within Spain there are currently 62 demarcated wine regions, of which a handful have gained international recognition: [Rioja], Priorat and [Ribera del Duero]. Yet these regions are only a small sample of the high quality wines Spain produces. Regions such as Cava, Penedes, Somontano, Galicia, Rueda and Jerez are only a few of the numerous regions worthy of exploration throughout Spain. Spain can also lay claim to having the most land under vine in the world, growing up to, by some accounts, 600 indigenous varietals of which Tempranillo is their most well known. Other popular varietals include [Garnacha], Bobal and Monastrell for reds and for whites; the infamous [sic] Palomino Fino grape which is used in the production of sherry wine, Pedro Ximenez in Montilla Morilles, Albarino used in the creation of the bright, effervescent wines of Galicia, and Verdejo in Rueda. - Source: - Catavino.net

Spain is not in the forefront of winemaking for its dessert wines, other than for its sweet wines from Sherry country including the highly revered Olorosos (when sweetened). But apart from Sherry Spain has a range of styles of dessert wines, ranging from the those made from the Pedro Ximenez grape primarily in Jerez and Montilla-Moriles) to luscious, red dessert wines made in the Mediterranean from the Garnacha (Grenache) grape. Some good Moscatels are made in Mallorca, Alicante and Navarre. The northwest corner of Spain, Galicia, with its bitter Atlantic climate, is even making dessert wines, called “Tostadillos” in the village of Ribadivia (similar to France’s “Vin de Paille”). The Canary Islands have made interesting dessert wines for centuries (they are mentioned by Shakespeare, for example) and in recent years the quality of winemaking has been improved and the Canary Islands wines are being better marketed now. The winemaking styles for “Vinos Dulces” are also diverse, from “Late Harvest” (Vendimia Tardía) to “Fortified Wines” (Fermentación Parcial). Based on in-spain.info.
