Community Tasting Notes (average 92.7 pts. and median of 93 pts. in 27 notes) - hiding notes with no text

Tasted by Burgundy Al on 11/22/2014 & rated 94 points: Tenth Annual White Truffle Dinner (Chez Weber - Chicago IL): This has been a very inconsistent wine, but tonight's bottle was probably the best I've had in years. Lots of ripe apple with plenty of stone fruit, particularly on the palate. Intense, long and very powerful. (1091 views)
Tasted by Burgundy Al on 10/23/2014 & rated 92 points: Birthday Dinner with Good Wine (NEXT Restaurant - Chicago IL): Popped and poured. Age appropriate level of maturity. Lots of ripe stone fruit with very charming spice. Very enjoyable today, but slightly short of energy and I wouldn't risk cellaring many of these long-term. (1312 views)
Tasted by Burgundy Al on 5/1/2014 flawed bottle: Acker "Paulee" Burgundy Dinner (The Fourth - New York NY): Slightly oxidized. (1258 views)
Tasted by Burgundy Al on 3/13/2014 flawed bottle: La Paulee "Warm-up" Dinner (RN74 - San Francisco CA): Not undrinkable but far more mature than this wine should be at this age. Perhaps "88 points" tonight. (1255 views)
Tasted by rnellans on 1/21/2014 & rated 93 points: Initially I thought perhaps a bit corked. This seemed to blow off. Great volume, concentration and depth on the palate. Rich, long. Adequate acidity. Quite nice. (1076 views)
Tasted by Biglama on 9/19/2012 & rated 93 points: gele kleur, hele open neus, veel indruk, karamel, honing, rijp geel fruit, indrukwekkend, blijft mooi drinkbaar (2025 views)
Tasted by KenK on 7/12/2012 & rated 92 points: Charlie Trotter's Goodbye with Jayer, Meo, and Rouget: Nose slow to open, but does show light citrus fruits tangerine, orange, almond.
Big mouthfull of wine, rich soft long with great weight and mouthfeel. A almost lush quality to the texture and delicate quality to the flavors. Lots of dry extract. Finishes in elagant way, but a tad short. (2344 views)
Tasted by Burgundy Al on 7/12/2012 & rated 93 points: Another Final Dinner at Charlie Trotter's with "Guests" Henri Jayer, Meo-Camuzet and Rouget (Charlie Trotter's - Chicago IL): Popped and poured. Served alongside the Drouhin 1999 and 2000 Montrachet Marquis de Laguiche. This 1999 started lush and ripe with lots of concentration. big stone fruit character with good spice, particularly on the finish. I would have liked a bit more acidity, but still a great bottle probably just entering its peak drinking window. (2464 views)
Tasted by MatthewF on 7/12/2012: Charlie Trotter's Farewell Dinner with Montrachet, Brulees and Cros Parantoux (Charlie Trotter's, Chicago IL): Popped and poured. Like the 2000 Marquis de Laguiche, very fresh and vibrant on the nose and palate. Ripe yellow citrus and stone fruit. Fantastic minerality with pretty spice notes too. Medium plus finish with lovely cleansing acidity. Should be drinking great for quite a while longer. (2195 views)
Tasted by Biglama on 3/2/2012 & rated 92 points: volle gele kleur, in de neus wat butterscotch, karamel, botertje, smaak is zacht en soepel, mooie diepgang , rijke wijn, veel indrukken (1685 views)
Tasted by Biglama on 9/14/2011 & rated 93 points: gele kleur, rijke neus, mooie krachtige impressies, fruit, terroir, meloen, rijpe peer, smaak is breed en mooi in balans, heerlijk drinkbaar, prachtig (1171 views)
Tasted by jwsobeck on 9/29/2010 flawed bottle: oxidized, flat apple juice taste, bitter baby aspirin.

Flaw blew off a little bit after a couple of hours, but it was dead. Really disappointing. (1649 views)
Tasted by Burgundy Al on 6/22/2010 & rated 91 points: Birthday Dinner (Inovasi - Lake Bluff IL): Lots of ripe peach aromas with new oak spice, also showing more advancement and maturity than other better bottles. Ripe peach flavors with big, lush spice. Wonderful minerality, less precise acidity from this bottle tonight. (1333 views)
Tasted by MatthewF on 6/22/2010: Celebration Dinner (Inovasi, Lake Bluff, IL): Very ripe yellow stone fruit aromas with a bit of creme brulee and wood spice. Rich fruits on the palate that coat the entire mouth. A good bit of vanilla on the palate. More evolved than the last one I had, but still very good. Moderate plus finish. (2031 views)
Tasted by MatthewF on 5/26/2009: Annual Blind White Burgundy Dinner at Spring (Chicago IL): Tons of creamy lemon on the nose and palate. A very intense wine oozing ripe citrus and mineral. Incredible length. Showing absolutely fantastic. (2018 views)
Tasted by Burgundy Al on 5/26/2009 & rated 97 points: 1999 Montrachet and Friends: Lieu-dit Cru 3rd Annual Blind White Burgundy Dinner (Spring - Chicago IL): Single blind flight. Never had this wine before. Starts with ripe peach on nose which continues on to palate, then evolves into flavors of lemon and lemon zest. Rich and (almost) tropical to start with incredible structure and acidity on the end. Staggering length. Will last for decades. Really fantastic. (2741 views)
Tasted by Jeremy Holmes on 4/20/2009: Rich, smoky and exotic. In the mouth it possesses great spherical shape as the tropical fruits fan out and then congregate to tighten up at the finish. It is generous and giving at this stage, drinking absolutely in the zone. Not great Montrachet but an absolutely delicious drink that partnered roast pork belly, scallops and Chanterelles with a mustard sauce most amiably. (1112 views)
Tasted by Biglama on 7/12/2008 & rated 93 points: rijke goud gele kleur, neus geeft veel, rijpheid en weelderigheid, geel fruit, honing, kaneel, veel indrukken. smaak is breed en mooi krachtig, lichte zoete aanzet vanwege de rijpheid, verleidelijk met diepgang en complexiteit, blijft in goede vorm (1866 views)
Tasted by Keith Levenberg on 3/15/2008: This was Le Montrachet (not sure if Jadot makes both). Very dense and tightly coiled even with several hours of decanting - eventually it reveals some very pretty florality combined with a butterscotchy/candy corn thing, but the main takeaway is its density and the mystery of what's incipient. (2154 views)
(1980 views)
(2239 views)

Les vins de Bourgogne (Bureau interprofessionnel des vins de Bourgogne) (and in English)
Burgundy - The province of eastern France, famous for its red wines produced from Pinot Noir and its whites produced from Chardonnay. (Small of amounts of Gamay and Aligoté are still grown, although these have to be labeled differently.) The most famous part of the region is known as the Cote d'Or (the Golden Slope). It is divided into the Cote de Beaune, south of the town of Beaune (famous principally for its whites), and the Cote de Nuits, North of Beaune (home of the most famous reds). In addition, the Cote Chalonnaise and the Maconnais are important wine growing regions, although historically a clear level (or more) below the Cote d'Or. Also included by some are the regions of Chablis and Auxerrois, farther north.

# 2013 Vintage Notes:
* "2013 is a vintage that 20 years ago would have been a disaster." - Will Lyons
* "low yields and highly variable reds, much better whites." - Bill Nanson
* "Virtually all wines were chaptalised, with a bit of sugar added before fermentation to increase the final alcohol level." - Jancis Robinson

# 2014 Vintage Notes:
"We have not had such splendid harvest weather for many years. This will ensure high quality (fragrant, classy and succulent are words already being used) across the board, up and down the hierarchy and well as consistently from south to north geographically apart from those vineyards ravaged by the hail at the end of June." - Clive Coates
