Tasted by Enfantterrible on 2/11/2024 & rated 93 points: Robmatic nails it. Another wine drunk too young. I’ll save my last for 2027 ish (137 views)
Tasted by Enfantterrible on 5/29/2023 & rated 91 points: The cork on this bottle was not in great shape so perhaps more advanced than others. Definitely time to drink up (486 views)
Tasted by robmatic on 2/26/2023 & rated 94 points: Mineral, cherry liqueur. Extracted and dense, sill showing plenty of youth and verve. Lavender, sage. Beautiful bottle. (716 views)
Tasted by beatles on 2/26/2022 & rated 93 points: Still very young, tight, a closed fist. The concentration of fruit is quite impressive, plenty of minerals here, spices & herbs. Some Spanish sweetness arrives with air, but needs food - bring in the neck of lamb, please. (1736 views)
Tasted by acheng on 12/15/2020: More Cabernet than garnache in profile. Drinking well. Perhaps still too young. (2093 views)
Tasted by buckeye76 on 12/25/2018 & rated 93 points: Black cherries, blueberries, blackberries, plums, chocolate, licorice, and spice in the nose and flavor. Full bodied wine, well balance, and a long finish (3038 views)
Tasted by mikdal on 6/22/2018 & rated 94 points: Magnificent! (2892 views)

(3180 views)
Tasted by AV2012 on 11/8/2017 & rated 92 points: Very very soft, mature, but also complex. Superb at this point. (2546 views)
Tasted by JimmyBubbles on 1/8/2017 & rated 93 points: Una bomba de fruta negra, moras, ciruelas, arándanos. Con esa clásica mineralidad de la zona. Algo polvoriento y licoroso. Cerezas y pizarra.

(3611 views)
Tasted by ntenney on 10/20/2016 & rated 95 points: Beautiful and complex, could have aged another 20 years or more. (2669 views)
Tasted by Bobby_B on 10/7/2016 & rated 94 points: PnP. Gorgeous black wine with a fascinating array of black and blue fruits on the nose and palate. Texture goes from lush and polished to grippy and lingering.

The highlight, for me, is the sophisticated fruit profile this displays... Simply classy stuff.

My rating takes into account the average online price. (2263 views)
Tasted by andrewdodd86 on 9/30/2016 & rated 96 points: Old note - remembered this being Bordeauxesque and modern red fruit profile (2237 views)
Tasted by adipovino on 9/30/2016 & rated 94 points: Elegant and impeccably balanced. Fine tannins, great fruit, well-integrated wood. Very long finish with distinct spice notes. In a great place now but can go several more years for sure. Outstanding. (2108 views)
Tasted by cubswinws on 4/22/2016 & rated 90 points: Smoky and dark with nice depth and length. (2321 views)
Tasted by beatles on 2/21/2016 & rated 93 points: Hail the dark master, very young and concentrated, this displays licorice, chocolate, black fruit, olives and minerals, all packed up very tightly and in a balanced way. It is too young, certainly, and question remains what this will eventually be. I have a couple of bottles left, and I shall wait for at least a couple of years before popping the next one. (2185 views)
Tasted by Vini Ciclismo on 12/6/2015 & rated 94 points: Very dark.
Bright brambly dark berry fruit, nicely integrated French oak. Hints of sherbet, lightly cedary.
Lovely bright fruits, black cherry, blueberry, damson and cassis. The blueberry really distinguishes it. Silky attack followed by a long firm palate and superfine but big tannins. Aging gracefully, doesn't need any more complexity, still very well balanced and drinking beautifully. (2232 views)
Tasted by Kris G on 11/1/2015 & rated 92 points: soft and fine, lovely wine (2328 views)
Tasted by RajivAyyangar on 8/26/2015 & rated 93 points: SF Berserkers—Spanish Wines Offline (Alegrias, SF): (my bottle. took a while to open up)
Slightly cloudy, dull. Medium ruby-red to a red rim.

Elevated intensity nose, clean and mid-development (still a bit primary). Turbulent and classically complex nose. Animal fur (suggesting Brettanomyces). Bruised apple skins and figs (suggesting acetaldehyde / slight oxidation), a combination of ripe black cherry, strawberry preserves, and dark plum and cassis (mostly black with some red fruits suggesting millerandage/variable ripening or a blend—in this case both a blend of 60% Grenache, which has variable ripening, and some cab, Carignan, Merlot, and Syrah, contributing dark fruits). Significant aging in new Oak which presents as baking spices, medium-roast coffee, roasted nuts, and dark chocolate. A lack of dill notes and overall Maillard character suggests French / European oak rather than American oak [I checked, and this is correct - 100% new French barriques]. There’s fresh turned earth on this, and slight savory tobacco tones from age, but overall it’s still relatively strong in primary fruit. The nose is highly complex, and can develop further.

In the mouth this is (by all accounts), textbook Priorat:
Full-bodied, with high alcohol, around 14% [close - 14.5%]. Elevated acidity, strong and mostly tartaric (possibly acidified, but done so tastefully). Medium tannins— rounded, softened coffee-ground-like, felt all over the mouth (oak-influenced tannins for sure). The finish is long, finishing with dark fruit and bitter-chocolate tannins. Midpalate this shows extremely deep fruit, dark and open, with just a hint of savory stewed bell pepper (suggesting pyrazines from the Cabernet/Merlot). Roasted nuts, strawberry jam, savory animal fur, bruised-apple / sweet cider, and fresh turned earth round out a muscular yet poised palate. If you could dress Nijinsky in Vantablack and pour him into a glass, it would taste something like this.

Score: Between 9 and 9.5 (3209 views)
Tasted by aagrawal on 8/26/2015 & rated 87 points: WineBerserkers Iberian Peninsula Tasting (Alegria's): Deep color; mixed blueberry, blackberry, plum, slight vanilla; palate is medium bodied, some tannin, youthful, limited black fruit, slight hollowness through the midpalate; medium finish. A bit too new world for me. 87 (2461 views)
Tasted by cubswinws on 7/3/2015 & rated 91 points: Drinking well at present but probably at its plateau. Dark fruit and rustic finish. (2055 views)
Tasted by rustyRudy on 12/26/2014 & rated 94 points: Light purple in color. Took to a tapas restaurant , drank over two hours. Minerals, spice and bitter cherry, with tannins that are still going strong. Still a baby. Multiple layers, this should easily last for another decade. Did very well with the tomato bread as well as the chorizo and chips and spicy potatoes bravas. (2593 views)
Tasted by acheng on 7/17/2014 & rated 89 points: Drank alongside the 2002 and honestly difficult to tell them apart. It is tightly coiled right now with plenty of muscle and primary fruit. Nowhere close to ready. (3244 views)
Tasted by Loren Sonkin on 4/23/2014 & rated 91 points: Priorat (Jeff K's): Purple/ruby in color. The nose is dusty with black cherries, violets and blueberries. Soft texture. Layered and complex. Black raspberries, blueberries and some dark chocolate on the palate. Got better all night long, so needs time or air. (3841 views)
Tasted by slrankin on 10/7/2013 & rated 93 points: This is a wonderful Priorat- no "spikes", intergrated, velvety tannins, fruit freash, with excellent structure and layering on the tongue- good nose and long finish. Drinking well. Double decanted two hours before supper. Am very happy to have more of these! Will
continue to please for a few more years. (4239 views)

Vinos de España - Wines of Spain (Instituto Español de Comercio Exterior) | Wikipedia
Wine Map on weinlagen-info

Spain is the third largest wine producing nation in the world, occupying the majority of the Iberian Peninsula with vast diversity in climate, culture, and of course, wine. From inky, dark reds of the [Priorat] to dry, white Finos from Andalusia, Spain can easily boast of elaborating a wide variety of notable styles. Within Spain there are currently 62 demarcated wine regions, of which a handful have gained international recognition: [Rioja], Priorat and [Ribera del Duero]. Yet these regions are only a small sample of the high quality wines Spain produces. Regions such as Cava, Penedes, Somontano, Galicia, Rueda and Jerez are only a few of the numerous regions worthy of exploration throughout Spain. Spain can also lay claim to having the most land under vine in the world, growing up to, by some accounts, 600 indigenous varietals of which Tempranillo is their most well known. Other popular varietals include [Garnacha], Bobal and Monastrell for reds and for whites; the infamous [sic] Palomino Fino grape which is used in the production of sherry wine, Pedro Ximenez in Montilla Morilles, Albarino used in the creation of the bright, effervescent wines of Galicia, and Verdejo in Rueda. - Source: - Catavino.net

Spain is not in the forefront of winemaking for its dessert wines, other than for its sweet wines from Sherry country including the highly revered Olorosos (when sweetened). But apart from Sherry Spain has a range of styles of dessert wines, ranging from the those made from the Pedro Ximenez grape primarily in Jerez and Montilla-Moriles) to luscious, red dessert wines made in the Mediterranean from the Garnacha (Grenache) grape. Some good Moscatels are made in Mallorca, Alicante and Navarre. The northwest corner of Spain, Galicia, with its bitter Atlantic climate, is even making dessert wines, called “Tostadillos” in the village of Ribadivia (similar to France’s “Vin de Paille”). The Canary Islands have made interesting dessert wines for centuries (they are mentioned by Shakespeare, for example) and in recent years the quality of winemaking has been improved and the Canary Islands wines are being better marketed now. The winemaking styles for “Vinos Dulces” are also diverse, from “Late Harvest” (Vendimia Tardía) to “Fortified Wines” (Fermentación Parcial). Based on in-spain.info.
