Tasted by timewithwine on 4/13/2024: This wine always performs above its price point. Apple and lemon notes with a creamy mouthfeel. The majority of juice in this bottle is from 2016 and then disgorged in 2019 (and purchased on release) A few years of holding always add some weight. 12.5% alc. 04.13.24. With lobster mac 'n cheese. Recommended. (808 views)
Tasted by KaupCava on 4/10/2024 & rated 92 points: Apple, pear and honey nose
Sweet cream, apple, pear, bread dough on tongue
Excellent acid fruit in balance
Lingering finish (846 views)
Tasted by 3daywinereview.com on 4/7/2024 & rated 92 points: Next level on day 2. Sat out for 2 hours on day 1 and then recorked. Amazing still life left. Lemon, sour apple, dough, mild chalk, orange peel and spice. Super complex. Maybe the best bottle to date. (981 views)
Tasted by Winedy O! on 4/5/2024: Mmmmmmm (903 views)
Tasted by Jimmy_Macs on 4/4/2024 & rated 90 points: Pale lemon. Med (+) aromas and flavor characteristics of honeysuckle, lemon, lime, pear, apple, white peach, bread, pastry, bread dough, cream. Dry, high acidity, med alcohol, med (+) body, med (+) finish. Fine persistent bubbles that give a creamy mousse. Very good quality- wine is well balanced between fruit characteristics, refreshing high acidity, and medium alcohol. It shows good complexity between medium (+) intensity primary fruit aromas (apple, lemon, white peach) and secondary aromas (bread, dough, cream). If the length of finish was a little longer, this could be an outstanding wine. Lack of tertiary aroma characteristics of hazelnut or honey combined with the good presence of fruit and high acidity indicate this wine is suitable for bottle aging and may develop further desirable characteristics in the bottle over the next 3 years.  Tasted by WindFlyer on 3/14/2024 & rated 90 points: [2023 release]

greenish straw colour, small bubbles. gentle yeast and nutty notes accent a nose of apple, pear and lemon zest. very smooth, round, and very fresh in the mouth. good balance of crispness and richness in the apple flavours with agreeable accents of brioche and ginger. racy citric finish with pithy notes of moderate length.

very good and pleasing sparkler… having both enough richness and acidity, it should not only not offend high-acid snobs, but also have enough universal appeal as an aperitif or for toasting.

12.5% AbV; dosage 10g/L; 60% Chardonnay/ 40% Pinot Noir; base vintage is 2019 and includes up to ~10% reserve wines (going back some four seasons); two years on the lees. (1519 views)
Tasted by PinotPaul on 3/9/2024 & rated 89 points: Decent. (1416 views)
Tasted by mwneil on 3/8/2024 & rated 91 points: Drank at Kuro in Hard Rock AC, about $70 on wine list, solid bubbles, golden color, good flavors, never got flabby as we drank, drank with sushi rolls, tempura veggies and eggplant, I go up and down with this wine, it was in good form with this bottle, it is always difficult to know what you are drinking without disgorgement dates on non vintage sparkling wines, might drink again depending on wine list, not a wine I would have at home due to better options at retail. (1382 views)
Tasted by Quiller on 3/3/2024 & rated 89 points: Pretty much consistent with my 9/5/2022 note. As before, developed a bit more lemon/green apple taste with some time in the glass, maybe due to warming up a bit. (1645 views)
Tasted by Jys1982 on 3/1/2024 & rated 90 points: To quote BST, I can’t quit her. Light, crisp, brioche, and tiny bubbles. She has a hold on my soul. (1541 views)
Tasted by 3daywinereview.com on 2/25/2024 & rated 88 points: Disgorged 2/2022. This is not as good as the last bottle. Heavy on the chalk along with minerals, lemon, sour apple and pear. Shorter on the finish and while refreshing not the typically experience. Sampled on day 2. (1773 views)
Tasted by Outplaying on 2/7/2024: My buddy Eric thinks this bottle is 20 to 30 years old. Golden in color, but not super dark. Nutty, caramel notes on the nose. Smells like it has some age on it. In the mouth, at first you get some of the oxidized, nutty caramel notes, but then surprisingly you get a blast of bright citrus fruit. It finishes pretty nicely. We enjoyed this. (2391 views)
Tasted by 3daywinereview.com on 2/4/2024 & rated 91 points: Disgorged 2/2022. Day 2 review. These have been stellar sparkling wines over the past 5 years. Vibrant fruit featuring lemon, unripe peaches and sour apples. Chalk, minerals and floral notes. Nice acidity. What is not to like about it for $19.99. (2047 views)
Tasted by Dine&Vine on 1/15/2024 & rated 89 points: Nice QPR sparkler. (2594 views)
Tasted by BottleScholar on 1/14/2024: Not overly ripe. Solid QPR. (2285 views)
Tasted by ehaav on 1/5/2024 & rated 92 points: Green apple, seaweed, light soy sauce, toasted almonds, toasted hazelnut, lemon curd. This is really fantastic. Don't know what year this was bottled, but I would take a gander it wasn't super recent, because this is showing some really nice savory notes. Really wonderful balance between the nutty savory side and the rich lemon and bright apple. Very persistent mousse. Long finish. Great complexity. Very rounded and rich, with the backbone of intense acidity keeping you coming back for more. Picked up on a whim after a bad day, and boy is my day a hell of a lot better now! Amazing paired with some basic sushi (2413 views)
Tasted by rogervanzant357 on 1/4/2024 & rated 90 points: Very good. (2230 views)
Tasted by AllRed on 12/31/2023 & rated 89 points: Last of a case purchased five years ago. Started out a bit one dimensional showing nothing but apple on the nose and palate, but it was also initially a bit too cold. As it warms there’s a nice toasted almond quality that emerges, along with baked pastry and vanilla custard elements. Somewhat coarse bead with flavors of pear, lemon, chalk and dough. (2170 views)
Tasted by NoahCap on 12/29/2023: Pretty good, especially for the price. You could have fooled me into thinking this is Champagne. Day 2 was even more biscuity. Nice, not complicated, but very pleasant and a good value. (2171 views)
Tasted by 3daywinereview.com on 12/24/2023 & rated 88 points: 2nd bottle today. Again good value although not as good. A bit too much chalk along with sour apple, pie crust and floral notes. (2218 views)
Tasted by 3daywinereview.com on 12/24/2023 & rated 91 points: Another solid effort and at $19.99 a real bargain. Citrus, shells, spice, orange peel, sour apple and chalk. Medium in the finish and nice acidity. Better than any Cava and Prosecco for under $20.00. (1959 views)
Tasted by timewithwine on 12/23/2023: As the house sparkler used for impromptu celebration as well as “just because”, this wine rarely receives a TN. We enjoy it so often that, like the girl next door, you don’t’ really notice how excellent something in such proximity is until one day, you suddenly say, “Well, damn fine!” The color is golden, but not brassy. The lively mousse reflects the youthfulness of the wine, but settles in to a steady stream of fine bubbles. The nose and palate display red apple, lemon rind of candied lemon, pear, and brioche. As the wine finishes, elements of hazelnut, coconut and vanilla appear. The mouthfeel has a touch of creaminess to it. This is always a welcome pour. 12.5% alc. (Currently drinking from a case purchased in 2019.) With she crab soup. 12.23-24.23. Recommended. (1910 views)
Tasted by winespine on 12/22/2023 & rated 91 points: This is a go to in our house for bubbles as it's a good QPR and we've been to the gorgeous winery in Anderson Valley 2x. It always amazes me that Roederer came over from Champagne and bought this property in Mendocino in the early 80s. The area is sparely populated now, so 40 years ago it must have felt like it was in the middle of nowhere. I bought 6 bottles for the holiday season, so I assume it's a relatively current release. Obviously it's NV so it's difficult to compare across releases, but I find this release a little better than the last. Always enjoyable and balanced, it paired well with Mont Jacob cheese. (1784 views)
Tasted by 3daywinereview.com on 12/16/2023 & rated 90 points: Again so solid. Lemon, spice, dough, chalk and citrus fruits. Super refreshing and nice acidity. Much better than Veuve Clicquot. (2148 views)
Tasted by The Drunken Cyclist on 12/9/2023 & rated 91 points: The Sixth Annual World's Largest Blind Tasting of American Sparkling Wine (Houston, Texas): Retail $28. 60% Chardonnay, 40% Pinot Noir. 27. Smokey and a bit dirty even on the nose, which is odd, at least for a sparkler. The palate is much better, however, with good tart tree fruit and just a hint of sugar. Excellent. 91 Points.

(NV Roederer Estate Brut Sparkling Wine Anderson Valley) From the moment you pop the cork, you can smell this aromatic sparker which is woven with fresh baked bread notes, yeast, pear, and spices. The oak ageing here provides the palate with a bit of extra richness and depth leading to a lingering finish. An outstanding sparkling wine at this price.  **** points

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

California

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson

North Coast

The North Coast American Viticultural Area (AVA) in California, covering more than three million acres, includes Napa, Sonoma, Mendocino and Lake counties, and portions of Marin and Solano counties. (see The Wine Institute for more information)

Anderson Valley

http://www.avwines.com/anderson-valley-appellation-map/
Anderson Valley stretches from Yorkville Highlands (located in a highland meadow straddling the upper Rancheria Creek and upper Dry Creek watersheds) through Boonville (located on Anderson Creek) and Philo (located on Indian Creek) to Navarro (located on Soda Creek). Rancheria, Anderson, Indian and Soda creeks are tributaries to the Navarro River, which flows north and west through the coastal range to the Pacific Ocean; Dry Creek flows south into the Russian River watershed in Sonoma County. The main stem of the Navarro River begins less than a mile south of Philo at the confluence of Anderson Creek and Rancheria Creek. The mouth of the Navarro is 10 miles (16 km) south of Mendocino, California. Encompassing 315 square miles (816 km˛), the Navarro River watershed is the largest coastal basin in Mendocino County.

Such unique geography results in a wide diurnal range, with daily high and low temperatures occasionally diverging 40 or 50 degrees. This enables Pinot Noir growers to keep acid development in line with sugar and flavor formation through long, warm Indian summers. It also makes for superb Gewurztraminer and Riesling, giving rise to the valley’s annual Alsatian Varietals and Pinot Noir festivals.

The climate in the Anderson Valley appellation is tempered by cool marine air. Steep hills and mountains surround rolling to nearly level alluvial terraces. The dominant natural vegetation is a mixed forest of Coast Redwood, various native oak varieties, and Douglas-fir. Elevation ranges from sea level to 2,500 feet (760 m). The average annual precipitation ranges from 35 to 80 inches (900 to 2000 mm). The average annual temperature is about 53 °F (12 °C), and the average frost-free season ranges from 220 to 365 days. Towards the coast the summers are cool and moist with frequent fog, while the interior Anderson Valley proper features a warm to hot summer climate similar to nearby interior regions, with daytime highs occasionally in excess of 100 °F (38 °C).

Visitors to the Valley should come prepared for cool evenings and warm days. Locals dress in layers year round.
