 Tasted by cork'd on 3/1/2015 & rated 91 points: Decanted 2 hours before the fruit started to show and sipped on it over a 6 hr period. Surprised to still have as much leafiness and a hint of green that gave way to dark stewed fruit. Still a hint of plumb freshness. Very enjoyable but most likely will not benefit from much more cellaring. Will drink my final this year. (545 views)

 Tasted by klezman on 10/22/2014: Right out of the gate this is a bottle of earthy, leafy goodness. Great balance and extract. Dark red fruit is almost imperceptible but is there. The earth is dominant on both the nose and palate, which is just great. Tannins are mostly but not entirely resolved. I can see why people rave about this wine. (1346 views)

 Tasted by kcsteve on 12/27/2013 & rated 90 points: Very surprised at the amount of funk upon opening; reminded me of a Bordeaux. Recommend decanting. It was very closed for at least an hour. Blackberries, spice, some funk, and a bit of petrol. Inky. Interesting wine to say the least. Consumed with an '07 Turnbull Cabernet. It was a split decision from the group on which was the best. Not incredibly delicious, but very "nerdy" kind of wine. The wine might be close to it´s life, maybe 3 more years and thats it! I liked the wine, it is interesting and unique in many ways. Strong notes of blackberries laced with coffee, which gets progressively better and stronger into the tasty finish. The oak integrates perfectly into this wine. This is MUCH better than the last few bottles of this I tasted, which I distinctly remember as dissapointing. (1972 views)

 Tasted by RDHudak on 2/27/2013 & rated 87 points: Muted nose at first followed by funk, earth and some spice. Palate of funky Syrah, fading dark fruit and more earth. Medium finish with balanced plus acidity and tannins. This just seemed a bit disjointed, awkward and clumsy from start to finish. In its defense, it ay have needed a bit more of a decant than I gave it. (1509 views)

I remember other vintages being a little more fruit-forward. I will open another bottle soon and see if this is a product of bottle variation. (1398 views)
 Tasted by AMM3RD on 1/6/2013 & rated 92 points: This was pretty closed for the first 20ish mins, then opened very nicely. Dark fruits and a unique flavor profile similar to the Ramey Claret, also a Cabernet/Syrah blend. This really embraces the spicy syrah and the weight and depth of the Cab. Perfect with steak (tonight) and/or other both flavored foods. Very nice acidity for a medium/full bodied wine. This was my last bottle, wishing Havens was still around. Give it some air and drink over the next 3-5 years. If you miss Havens check-out Bedrock wines, delicious...AM (1429 views)

 Tasted by rocknroller on 10/20/2012 & rated 91 points: Dark purple red color. Decanted for 1 hour and drank 2+ glasses over 2 hours. I agree that this comes off heavily syrah based on both the palate and the nose. The nose has a heavy dose of meat and tar right off the bat, very earthy, black fruits, spice. The palate, while full of dark fruits with black cherry, blackberry liqueur, and plum, seems a bit thin in the middle. In addition, the palate, as well as the nose, is quite complex, adding meat, spice, licorice, dusty earth, somewhat sharp edged tannins, and a bold peppery finish. At times the alcohol would show, but not obtrusively. Without some of the sharper edges this would have been considerably better. This was not as good as a bottle a couple years ago. My inclination is to not sit on this and drink up. 90-91pts. (1671 views)

The underlying flavors definitely seemed more savory and Syrah-driven than Cab. Didn't get a chance to finish it the first night, but by the second it didn't have much going on. I have a couple more bottles so I'll try to decant them and give them a fairer chance. (1661 views)

Havens Wine Cellars

Producer website

The original Havens winery was liquidated in 2009. Many of the wine assets were sold with some being released by Cameron Hughes. In 2012, the physical winery itself was acquired and the brand revived.

Red Blend

Red Blend is used for any combination of red grapes that does not fit into CellarTracker's preset blends (Red Bordeaux Blend, etc). Actual blend composition for a given wine should be entered under the per wine or per wine vintage wiki articles.
