Tasted by Melmoth on 1/28/2021: Drinking very well. Beautifully aromatic. Dark fruit + savory. (280 views)
Tasted by tederf on 8/2/2013 & rated 88 points: Fading -- but most of the heat is gone. Mostly pencil shavings. Short finish. Just a bit of black cherry left. Last bottle I had was in 2009. Found this in the cellar -- glad I drank it now. (999 views)
Tasted by Frank Murray III on 11/24/2009: Not surprising, much improved since my last bottle in Feb 2008. Listed alcohol of 14.1% on the bottle. Mix of char, tar and enough acidity to liven up the finish. Fruity, with some strawberry, black cherry, blueberry and vanilla. Drink now. (1594 views)
Tasted by tederf on 7/24/2009 & rated 89 points: Nice under $30 California Syrah. Not a great deal on the nose after the pop n pour. Flavors of dark fruit - after taste of black cherry. Also some flint or pencil shaving flavor. I thought this was a plus. Just a bit of heat but not harmful to the balance. Fairly long finish. Just would have liked a little more on the nose and a bit more fruit. From my Cellartracker notes. (1573 views)
Tasted by dbonner on 12/10/2008 & rated 90 points: Very nice bottle to enjoy with drinking time now and the near future, maybe a year or so. The nose was very berry and no notice of heat. I tasted when opened but found that 30 minutes of decant really allowed this to open up. Filled with dark black cherry with a nice vanilla finish and just enough tannins to bring this bottle to life.  Tasted by topher18 on 6/1/2008 & rated 88 points: A couple points better than the earlier bottle. Lots and lots of fruit. Huge nose. Jammy. (1633 views)
Tasted by AllRed on 4/28/2008 & rated 92 points: Honeymoon Visit at Siduri / Novy: Inky purple color. Herbal note to start, with mint dominating, followed by dark fruit and meat aromas. Sweet dark fruit on the well balanced palate. (1746 views)
Tasted by budman on 4/22/2008 & rated 92 points: Best bottle - complex dark fruit. Great job, Adam!!! (1161 views)
Tasted by budman on 4/8/2008 & rated 89 points: Nice, but nothing exciting going on!!! (1183 views)
Tasted by budman on 3/17/2008 & rated 91 points: Another winner. Lots of deep, dark fruit. I wish I had more patience!!! (1193 views)
Tasted by topher18 on 3/14/2008 & rated 86 points: Deep red fruit and a dusty nose. Vegetal notes, and a hint of mint. Palate is odd. There is a buttery taste that lays over the top of the fruit. Plum and hint of dark cherry. Tannins are right there, but smooth. Finish is long.

Tasted by Frank Murray III on 2/25/2008: Kind of a shy wine at this point. The palate is medium body, with notes of blackberry, some roasted cherry and brush stroke of new wood. Finish is a bit muddled, with some red fruited acidity and some toast, char. Suggest some further aging on this wine to see where it heads but it's more of a subtle youngster at this stage. (1399 views)
Tasted by budman on 2/17/2008 & rated 91 points: Wow. Excellent syrah from that Mike Lee guy. (1281 views)
Tasted by shaneajohnson on 1/31/2008 & rated 86 points: Not very impressed with this. Not much going on on the nose. Palate has typical Syrah flavors, but is pretty flat with short finish. I usually love Novy Syrahs so I'm not sure what's up with this one. (1054 views)

Syrah

Varietal article (Wikipedia) | (Wines Northwest)

Note that some producers in the Northern Rhone distinguish between simply Syrah and "Serine", the latter described as ‘an ancient clone of Syrah, the berries of which are more oval-shaped and less deeply pigmented than Syrah’ by producer Tardieu-Laurent.

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson
