Tasted by bon vivant on 12/30/2023 & rated 93 points: Glad I got a good stash of the 2008 based release (old label) as this just keeps giving a wonderful drinking experience. Almost 2 years since the last bottle and this was round creamy and balanced. Still fresh and not showing any signs of oxidation. Even better after 20 -30 minutes. (633 views)
Tasted by chablis28 on 12/15/2023 & rated 93 points: Dinner w/ Jim & Michelene at our place. I feel goofy saying this but tonight this was more impressive than the 2013 Dom Perignon that followed. I opened one of these for the pre-dinner "kitchen staff"; Craig, Nita & Joe and couldn't stop benchmarking it in my head with the 2013 Dom we served later. Side by side and blind I might have guess this to be the Dom. Always one of our favorite house champagnes, year in and year out. Let's see, one 2013 DP or six of these for the same cost. Something to ponder :). Normally DP easily walks away with the prize. I hope the 2013 impresses more down the line. (995 views)
Tasted by tastark on 12/3/2023: Bought these in 375 and they are missing the "Grand Cru" designation under the word "Brut." Hard to believe that would be an oversight or accidental, so we suspect this is not the wine we are used to and it showed in the battle.

This is missing some of the acid and chalkiness we've come to expect. Maybe it's a base vintage thing, rather than not being grand cru? Not sure, but we're a little disappointed. (690 views)
Tasted by Hildo Schulz on 11/13/2023 & rated 90 points: Tasted blind. very typical blanc the blanc. Well balanced and complex for a NV. Lemon, nutty and pastery on the nose. Very flowery on the palate. Nice Champagne that i like to drink more from. (733 views)
Tasted by rocknroller on 9/27/2023 & rated 92 points: Pale gold color. Drank 2 glasses to kick off our North Shore excursion. These are so damn good, I hate to even add, at the price point. The nose is precocious, with its fresh pear notes wrapped up in pie crust and creamy patisserie, green apple, biscuit and light toast. The palate echos the purity of pear fruit, pastry cream, stony spice notes and a definitive toasty note on an elegant finish. Just delightful. 92+ to 93pts. (1084 views)
Tasted by galewskj on 7/24/2023 & rated 91 points: Wines That Don't Suck at Ciao Bella: Fairly toasty, assertive and yeasty for a BdB, although it has ample acidity and freshness that is more reminiscent of chardonnay. 90-91. (1127 views)
Tasted by I'd Rather Be Drinking Wine on 7/23/2023 & rated 90 points: Craig Tasting - WTDS (Ciao Bella - Bloomington): Nice starter sparkler! Straw, brioche and some saline....what more could you ask for in a starter Champagne? Paired nicely with fried calamari! 90+ for me! Thanks Brian for bringing this! (1258 views)
Tasted by AGELVIS on 7/23/2023 & rated 92 points: PNP. Straw color. Honey, brioche, and subtle minerality. Dry palate, with a good volume of medium fine bubbles. Nice acidity, with a good linger.

Excellent QPR. Good structure and a very easy drinker. (1489 views)
Tasted by jonboy74 on 7/12/2023 & rated 89 points: A bit simple but enjoyable for what it is (815 views)
Tasted by rocknroller on 7/1/2023 & rated 92 points: Pale gold color. Drank a glass over an hour. Had these on Dad's birthday up at Wildview with family. These recent bottles have been excellent again. Always classy, light-medium bodied, very elegant, pear, green apple, yeast, pastry, fine dry stone minerals and fresh air. Lovely. (894 views)
Tasted by MC2 Wines on 4/28/2023: Bienvenue a Champagne; 4/20/2023-4/29/2023 (Les Crayeres, various restaurants, Les Avises and a many wonderful producers): These are easy to buy and easy to drink and truly great for the price point. You can understand how such big names want this as their house bubbles. The light and bright and slightly citrus and very easy all there. I think I’ve said it before but for me if we were to have a house bubbles this would likely be it because it is so enjoyable and with a great QPR. (1630 views)
Tasted by remyworldpeace on 4/14/2023 & rated 88 points: Warm slightly riper yellow fruit. Pleasant enough but lacking some acidic balance for my palate esp as the dosage seems higher. (620 views)
Tasted by rocknroller on 4/9/2023 & rated 91 points: Light gold color. Drank a glass plus over 90 minutes. Apple, apple peel, chalk, and a touch of bitters. Very good as always. With family for Easter. (917 views)
Tasted by HerrMelin on 1/2/2023 & rated 92 points: Its my first time trying this cuvee and I must say im very impressed! couldnt find any information about disgorgement or base vintage on the bottle but I just recently bought this so it's a young wine.
Slightly golden in its colour, small energetic bubbles and a very pleasant mousse. Smelling the wine i find it a bit reductive and with a hint of gunpowder, grilled lemon, newly baked croissant, orange peel and almonds. The taste really opens up after a few hours, showing the gunpowder and croissant at first and leaving with a mouthwatering acidity. (1007 views)
Tasted by btock on 1/1/2023 & rated 92 points: Delivers. Blanc de blancs is my favorite style and this is such a great expression of it, especially for its price. Bright, fresh, playful mousse, very versatile. Another great bottle. (708 views)
Tasted by rocknroller on 1/1/2023 & rated 92 points: New Years Day: Champagne Vrai, Sixth Annual Edition (Brad & Marcia's Place, St. Paul, MN): Light gold color. Small taste. I felt obligated to get just a taste of a house favorite. Sally Field: "You like me, you really like me." Yes, we do. Ridiculously underrated. 91+ to 92pts. (1121 views)
Tasted by chablis28 on 12/20/2022 & rated 92 points: Love this bubbly! Fresh, vibrant, intense & concentrated at a very reasonable terrif! One of our favs! Took to Lela in Bloomington MN to celebrate Nita's looming 67th! (1191 views)
Tasted by klezman on 11/11/2022: This was excellent, as good as prior notes suggested. (1613 views)
Tasted by rocknroller on 9/24/2022 & rated 92 points: Light gold color. Drank a glass from 375ml. Apple, crisp, bright, flaky pie crust, melon, buttermilk biscuits, graceful. Love these. (1291 views)
Tasted by MC2 Wines on 8/27/2022: Early bubbles to ease into the day. If we had a 'house champagne' this would likely be my vote just because it's very reasonably priced and enjoyable. More of the light and tart apple style. If there's a knock it's that it's not complex or overly intriguing. It's just good and solid and a bit one-dimensional and priced as such. Was a nice way to start off the day. (1324 views)
Tasted by Neras on 8/26/2022 & rated 91 points: Nice with good depth. (999 views)
Tasted by rocknroller on 8/10/2022 & rated 91 points: Pale golden color. Drank a glass from 375ml. Enjoyed this on the North Shore overlooking Lake Superior from our condo. This really hit the spot after a big dinner at The Strand. Patisserie cream, nougat, green apple, and wet stone on the nose. Then palate is crisp and refreshing, bright green orchard fruit, pastry cream, apple peel and stone. Delicious, 91+pts. (1361 views)
Tasted by chablis28 on 7/4/2022 & rated 92 points: This always rocks. Only 4 left. Time to reload :) (1444 views)
Tasted by Golf_Wine on 7/1/2022 & rated 88 points: Sunday brunch with friends. Everybody seemed to like it. Nothing special, an average but good champagne. (1147 views)
Tasted by shifter on 4/3/2022: Great value for a very good Champs. Some yeast, citrus zest and clean, crisp acids. My go to for parties. (1799 views)

(NV Legras Brut Champagne Blanc de Blancs) #1; COLOR-medium golden; NOSE-very complex; rotten bread component (that I like); a mustard component; smoked wood action; great apple core & pears; has the complexity of $100 bottles; TASTE-great bubble action; great acidity; this has the chops of Crystal of Dom; very focused; I like this a whole lot; great mouthfeel; dominated by Granny Smith apple candy flavor, but very focused high acid ripping through; very food friendly (Lobster); can put away for 5-7 years easy; ST-92; GV-93+  93+ points

Champagne

Le Champagne (Le comité interprofessionnel du vin de Champagne) | Grandes Marques & Maisons de Champagne (Union des Maisons de Champagne)

France - When it comes to wine, France stands alone. No other country can beat it in terms of consistent quality and diversity. And while many of its Region, Bordeaux, Burgundy and Champagne most obviously, produce wine as rare, as sought-after and nearly as expensive as gold, there are just as many obscurities and values to be had from little known appellations throughout the country. To learn everything there is to know about French wine would take a lifetime. To understand and appreciate French wine, one only has to begin tasting them. Click for a list of bestselling items from all of France.
Sub-Region:

Champagne - The French region of Champagne (including the cities of Rheims, Épernay, and Aÿ) was the first region in the world to make sparkling wine in any quantity. Today, the name of the region is synonymous with the finest of all sparkling wines, and wine-making traditions of Champagne have become role models for sparkling wine producers, worldwide. Surprisingly, the region of Champagne is now responsible for only one bottle in 12 of all sparkling wine produced. Styles of champagne range in sweetness ranging from an extra brut or brut 0, to the basic brut to demi sec to doux; some houses produce single vintage champagnes and others produce non-vintage (or incorporate wines/grapes of multiple vintages), often to preserve a specific taste; combinations of grape varietals; and colors, including a rosé. There are several sub-appellations, including the Valley of the Marnes river running from Épernay west, Massif de Saint-Thierry north and west of Rheims, Valley of the Ardre, the Mountains of Rheims (between Rheims and Épernay), Côte des Blancs, Côte de Sézanne, and Côte des Bar in the South. Champagne wine only uses three grape varietals (cépages): Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Meunier.
