Tasted by Monopaulp on 10/16/2013 & rated 85 points: Beautiful shiny golden hue, weighty, rich and soft palate.
A bit to alcoholic at this time, seems a bit clunky, not much acid. Not gonna give it much thought right now. See where it goes after a few hours (1292 views)
Tasted by eharkins on 8/23/2013 & rated 91 points: Sadly ,ynlast bottle, probablyy not the most exciting vintage for the vineyard, but the fruit here while bruised still comes across quite fresh nice acidity on the palate even if the fruit turns a touch sour on the finish (1360 views)
Tasted by AtoZ on 6/18/2013 & rated 89 points: kind of bitter at first.. needs food. Bone dry and not a lot of fruit but plenty of wet wool. Was okay with fish. Maybe better with spicy food? (1616 views)
Tasted by cardsandwine on 3/31/2013: This bottle did not seem right. It was flat and very dry with almost no fruit> Bad bottle? Stay tuned. (1767 views)
Tasted by missatiejacket on 1/28/2013: There's a little development coming into the scene now with this bottle, in the form of intensified wet wool, graham cracker, toast, and a bit of a dried nature to the otherwise still-fresh fruit. Fruits are reminiscent of lemon, green apple, peach, ripe pear, starfruit, and hints of pineapple, somewhat underripe. A wet stone minerality runs throughout. Ripping acidity provides a nice tension, and if any sweetness was ever apparent, it no longer is at this point. This is a lovely bottle, and I like where it is right now, because I like all of the freshness that remains in what really is a young wine which has probably only recently become as open as it is now. very good+. delightful. (1063 views)
Tasted by JeffnCin on 1/12/2013: This is a great wine to sniff, with a nose full of honey and sweet, musty hay on a late summer day. On the palate, the honey and any sweetness disappear. The hay provides a warm and inviting lead-in for what is a cutting, almost tart, citrus peel flavor. There is a touch of chestnut, which combined with the grassy aspect, brings to mind Long Jing (dragonwell) green tea. Burnt orange peel extends into mild herbs for a nice finish. It is an interesting wine to contemplate in the glass, but I suspect it would really shine with a beautiful vegetarian meal. (975 views)
Tasted by talentedwine on 12/24/2012 & rated 93 points: Once it opened up it was delicious. Not overly fruity but great complexity and a nice finish (741 views)
Tasted by Troon on 11/19/2012 & rated 90 points: This wine didn't take long to open up. There was stone and lemon on te nose. The palate is more mineral with green apple. There is a nice acidity to the wine. The finish is medium. I'm really growing to enjoy Chenin Blanc. Especially bottles with some age. (840 views)
Tasted by mtaczak on 8/19/2012 & rated 89 points: My first aged chenin. Piercing acidity - austere is a good word for this wine. It feels like it wants to be rich and complex but just falls short. It did firm up with air, suggesting a decant would do it favors. I have no idea if further aging will pay off, but I still have a bottle, so why not? (993 views)
Tasted by coremill on 1/16/2012 & rated 88 points: Must've been a root day.: The only decent wine of the night. Distinctively chenin with a woolly qualtiy, some citrusy fruit, a dollop of honey, and something I'm told is called "quince" (I've never figured out what that actually is). This is a bit dominated by the acid and it's on the austere side (although it's not particularly mineral), but it fattened up a bit with some air. I liked it, but this lacks the density of fruit one would hope for in a better vintage. (1662 views)
Tasted by dzop on 1/14/2012 & rated 86 points: Complex, intellectual, but not tasty. Very tannic, even bitter on the back palate, and intensely Chenin- but Chenin is so (euphemistically) "distinctive" that too much varietal character can be, as here, a bad thing. And here, that "green tea" I get from chenin is, to my palate, overwhelming. Tart, lively, shows no oxidative notes, plenty of life yet, but . . . This just does nothing for me. (1726 views)
Tasted by TheBusiness724 on 1/13/2012 & rated 91 points: Austere, high-acid, but complex. Intellectually appealing if not hedonistically so. Pretty damn close to mature. Expressive and typical. (1490 views)
Tasted by Brian Kennedy on 12/24/2011 & rated 92 points: medium gold. a little bit of ox, but in a good way. complex, long finish. butter, baked apple, med acidity (1606 views)
Tasted by Kuban on 2/19/2005: Light greenish gold. Delicate complex nose with creamy, honey hints. Lovely, dry well balanced wine. VG/Ex (1770 views)
