Tasted by _Xenon on 4/21/2015 & rated 93 points: Heavily perfumed and intoxicating nose! This wine got better and better over the years. Sadly this was my last bottle. And it was the best. Complex, integrated and perfectly fitting the Spaghetti Puttanesca I enjoyed at home while watching Bayern against Port CL game.

Considering the brown edges I don't this this wine will evolve further. Drink until 2016. (240 views)
Tasted by jnewman77 on 4/2/2015: Delicious. Powerful nose of black cherry, anise, rose petal, freshly turned earth, and cool minerality. The palate is lovely, elegant, but still has some tannin that kicks in. The red berry, floral, and anise notes are in full effect. The finish is good. Certainly seems to have structure and flavor to continue to evolve for several years. Definitely good now, I suspect will be better in another 2-3 years. (258 views)
Tasted by vespa110 on 1/7/2015 & rated 92 points: Buono, tannino si è smussato, profuma di toscana e di sangiovese, con lo spiedo è stato polverizzato. (597 views)
Tasted by jnewman77 on 11/15/2014: This is great wine. This vintage shows as there is plenty of tannin, some darker fruit, alongside red berry and lots of savory, meaty, smoky tones. There is also some forest floor and floral hints. This is the type of wine I could smell all night. The palate shows pretty robust tannins still, but they are integrating and with food and air meld well. The finish is a touch tannic currently. I think this has a good 6-10 years of continued development ahead. It drinks well now with aeration and food, but should continue to improve. (681 views)
Tasted by kevinacohn on 10/30/2014: The second bottle I've had in the last three months. Black cherry, brown sugar, violets, fresh turned earth, and tobacco on the nose—perfumed, rich, alluring. Sadly, the palate doesn't live up to the nose: thin on the tip of the tongue, with acid popping out on the middle, and not in the most pleasant way. Somewhat drying on the finish. Not in the same league as the last bottle, which was excellent in every way. Maybe not the best bottle, maybe on a downward slope. Rated 0 on a scale of -1 to 3. (846 views)
Tasted by Al Ehrhardt on 9/6/2014: Very similar to my last bottle a year and a half ago. In a sweet spot for drinking. Really enjoyed this. Awesome with grilled rack of lamb. (905 views)
 Tasted by B & B on 6/24/2014 & rated 90 points: Best chianti ever (1173 views)
Tasted by jnewman77 on 5/29/2014: This is absolutely fantastic. Much darker in color than the other Montevertine's I've tasted. The nose is almost reminiscent of a fine Gevrey burgundy with savory, meaty notes, underlying dark cherry, fresh turned earth, and some tobacco notes. Really actually hard to stop smelling. The palate is filled with dark cherry and other black fruit with plenty of tannin that is integrating well and is overall nicely balanced. More tannin in this than the other Montevertine's I've had, but integrating well. I think this has a couple of years of positive development still ahead and will drink well for another 5-7 years easily. Fantastic example of balanced Sangiovese. Can't recommend enough. (945 views)
Tasted by IJC on 1/18/2014: Opened and decanted an hour before drinking. Definitely within its drinking window, tannins well integrated with fruit, though later in the evening, it reminded me that it still had plenty of reserve, and might improve with additional cellaring.
Very fine.

Tasted by _Xenon on 7/25/2013 & rated 90 points: Floral nose, a hint of elegance, already red-brown colour. Quite a bit acidity. Medium to long body. (1637 views)
Tasted by Haltermr on 7/7/2013 & rated 92 points: Stunning nose of pipe tobacco, unfinished leather, cocoa powder, sweet dark cherry, violet and some green herbal/spice notes. The entry is gorgeous, with velvety mid weight texture eventually giving way to a nice acid snap on the finish. Hardens with time in the glass. Tannins are refined, but still present, will try my next one in several years if I can keep my hands off of this. (1585 views)
Tasted by vespa110 on 2/22/2013 & rated 90 points: Granato, naso maturo su note di fragola prugna, terra , violetta appassita, spezie dolci, bocca fresca, goduriosa anche se con quel leggero tannino che gli da grip in bevuta, finita la bottiglia in 2 in pochissimo....solito problema alcolico (1771 views)
Tasted by Al Ehrhardt on 2/16/2013: A joy to drink. Cherries, spices, herbs, earth. Tannins are very well integrated, well balanced. Perfect weight. Double decanted about 90 minutes prior to serving. I have another bottle and will drink in the next year or two, I'm sure they will hold, but not sure how much more they will improve. Fabulous with red pepper, fennel, and spinach risotto. I need to buy Montevertine more frequently. (1708 views)
Tasted by brooklynguy on 12/30/2012: A wall of tannins - way too young to drink in the sense that the wine is not harmonious and expressive yet. There are hints of its character in the dark plum and black cherry fruit, and it's certainly lovely, but even with a decant of over two hours, it's simply an exercise in drinking wine that's not meant to be drunk at this age. My bad. (1931 views)
Tasted by yankswing on 10/6/2012 & rated 95 points: Really beautiful wine. Opened up nicely in the glass. Clear tones with rich mouthfeel. A bit rustic, but also very developed. Would recommend highly. Medium-to-full bodied. Moderate tannins. Long finish (1683 views)

Tasted by BillyT on 1/28/2012 & rated 90 points: Dinner at Fred's Bistro with Janie and Cliff. Big cherries, black cherries, dark fruit, chocolate and vanillin notes. Well integrated tannins. Typical for this wine and has become my favorite Italian producer with Pergole Torte being one of the best wines I've ever had. Not many second labels are as good as this montevertine. (1736 views)
Tasted by Jack O'Brien on 12/21/2011 & rated 90 points: No notes taken - I do remember this being distinctively Tuscan with iron minerality and dried reds fruits. Very nice wine. (1782 views)
(2241 views)
Tasted by mike10474 on 2/5/2011: Decanted for 3 hours. Paired well with medium rare steak. Nose had a lot of cherries, and floral notes. Medium body/ high acidity. Have 1 more bottle and will hold out till end of the year. But it's drinking nicely now. The finish lingers on and on. Simply delicious! Now, I need to stock up more on the 2006 vintage! (2182 views)
Tasted by TannicBeast on 1/31/2011 & rated 90 points: A very beautiful and well-made wine. It has a classic Chianti Classico profile but is very clean, fresh and refined. Still, I have a hard time justifying its current price locally and on the internet. There are many Chianti Classicos of the same quality at a much lesser price. At its peak. Drink now or within a year or so. IMHO it does not have the tannins and structure to justify more cellar aging. (1997 views)
Tasted by bg2167 on 1/26/2011 & rated 90 points: Just now starting to show great complexity and integration. Very classy. (2203 views)
Tasted by Jossik on 12/29/2010 & rated 86 points: (da doppia magnum) sangiovese molto pronunciato con note di ciliegia e carruba chiantigiana, bello preciso e netto (2340 views)
Tasted by BGage41 on 12/5/2010 & rated 92 points: Nose had lots of Depth - Cherries, floral, leather, earth. great balance of acidity and tannin. Great bottle. (2530 views)
Tasted by Billigan on 11/30/2010 & rated 93 points: If you somehow still hold a lingering impression of chianti as being a cheap, basket-sheathed pizza wine, this wine will forever banish those thoughts from your mind. It held an incredibly aromatic nose of flowers and earth that left me swirling and sniffing all night long. In the mouth, it combined a silky texture with classic sangiovese bright cherry flavors and the lively acid made it a perfect complement to my wife's awesome spaghetti bolognese. Simply put, it's greatest expression of sangiovese I've ever tasted...at least until I try the Pergole Torte. :) (2707 views)
