Community Tasting Notes (average 91 pts. and median of 91 pts. in 4 notes) - hiding notes with no text

Tasted by LW31 on 9/6/2018: Holding up with elegance. Still acid and life here. At first a bit dumb on nose, with a wooly texture reminiscent of Chenin, but then starts to show more classic lemon and seashell notes of muscadet. Drink now. (784 views)
Tasted by jmht on 1/31/2011 & rated 92 points: Wow!-- lemon lime, dried honey complexity, minerals, sea minerals, long tart lemony finish, light as a feather-- and a bowl of mussels to eat with it. (3859 views)
Tasted by John Tucker on 12/10/2010: Delightful. Slightly oxidized nose, with citrus and pear and hints of tropical fruit. And minerals. Tastes instantly of slate, surprisingly ripe citrus and tropical fruit, with bracing acidity. And minerals. Ancient sea floor minerals. Medium body. Long briny dried fruit finish. Tastes a bit of slight oxidation, but entirely pleasant. Suspect that tomorrow the fruit will get weightier and the tropicalia will push it's way to the front past the citrus, and that the minerality will take a bit of back seat, but we'll see. (3934 views)
Tasted by jmht on 8/22/2009 & rated 90 points: Lemony nose, palate of lemon, lemon zest, pronounced limestone minerality, tart acidity, long lemony finish. Drinking beautifully now. But with additional bottle age, I suspect it will gain some dried honey complexity. (4043 views)
Tasted by WNissen on 3/25/2006: Real Wine Assault (K&L Wines, San Francisco, Cal.): $16. Flatter, longer in the finish but less interesting. Good+. (5693 views)

Melon de Bourgogne

Melon de Bourgogne or Melon is a variety of white grape grown primarily in the Loire Valley region of France. It is also grown in North America. It is best known through its use in the white wine Muscadet.

In the U.S., Federal law prevents "Muscadet" from being used for American-produced wine; only the full name of the grape, or the shortened "Melon" can be used.
