Community Tasting History

Community Tasting Notes (average 87.3 pts. and median of 90 pts. in 4 notes) - hiding notes with no text

Tasted by Rieslingfan on 1/8/2014 & rated 81 points: While still alive it is frightfully boring. Some peach skin aromas/flavors, and some minerality, but that's it. (580 views)
Tasted by drwine2001 on 4/11/2012: Random Notes from Travels in France; 4/6/2012-4/14/2012 (Paris, Loire, Alsace): Full yellow, a touch of brown. Low pitched peach and nuts. Then it became fully maderized and dull. Some botrytis deep in the background. Full bodied, some residual sugar. Just when we thought it was completely dead, it perked up in a remarkale way to show more livly stone fruit. Ah, the mysteries of older wines. Not one to hold or bet on at this point. (1781 views)
Tasted by Happybob on 2/29/2008 & rated 91 points: I think this wine (or bottle) may have passed it's prime a bit, but it was still very nice. Golden, floral aromas and fruit, wonderful petrol on the nose and a citrus-tart complex palate with a finish that lasts at least 30 seconds. At first, our bottle was chilled too much then it opened up when not quite so chilled. (1233 views)
Tasted by futronic on 2/25/2006 & rated 90 points: Light-medium gold colour. Aromas of cumin, talc, honey, apricot, and spice. Medium-full bodied, lovely acidity and complexity, with talc, mineral, white fruit, and spice. Moderate finish, with lemon and mineral notes. (2046 views)

Domaine Weinbach

Producer website | producer profile on thewinedoctor.com.

The Quintessence de Grains Nobles wines are extremely rare, nectar of nectars. They are produced in tiny quantities in only a few vintages. The word Quintessence was first coined by Domaine Weinbach to be used to describe this sumptuous cuvée of the 1983 vintage. Domaine Weinbach received official designation as organic and biodynamic in 2010.
