Slight oak (613 views) | | Tasted by Mbressack on 6/9/2016 & rated 87 points: Way past it's prime. Decent cold and the first night, drinkable but when it opened up it was too yellow and syrup. Hints of apricot but way too much oak and gone (686 views) | | Tasted by Blcmdpa@gmail.com on 6/23/2010 & rated 91 points: lots of stone fruit on the nose, peach and apricot, mid body range and oaked enought to be evident but not oppressive, nice balance, a filling chard but not heavy (2135 views) | | Tasted by skaliner on 11/22/2009 flawed bottle: lovely bottle of wine (2144 views) | | Tasted by AllRed on 11/18/2009 & rated 90 points: Flickinger Wines Customer Appreciation Tasting (The Casino Club, Chicago, Illinois): Primary aroma is oak, but there's also nice orchard fruit and floral tones. Flavors of apple, marzipan and oak. Nice balance and full, rich texture. (3091 views) | | Tasted by bevetroppo on 9/20/2009 & rated 90 points: Day after from memory. This came close to being a big hit (not that I'm any kind of expert in the Cali chard genre). Drank in a restaurant, paid $83, which is roughly double the current retail. I'm always looking for new RR chards since they are my wife's favorite, and she definitely gets short shrift in my wine buying habits. Big and appealing fruit aromas and flavors, but not all tropical, which appeals to me. It seemed to morph in the mouth, seamlessly shifting between citrus and pineapple-like impressions. The only drawback was the borderline excessive use of oak, which imparted sweet vanilla and toasty notes that intruded on the finish and gave it a real thwack that was out of proportion, but I admit big oaky flavors aren't my cup of tea. (1897 views) | | Tasted by skaliner on 8/16/2009: lovely chardonnay (1785 views) | | Tasted by jbrekke on 4/13/2009: Lots of pear on the nose and mid-palate. Nice acidity, very light mouthfeel. Recommended. (1235 views) | | Tasted by jwebtx on 11/24/2008 & rated 92 points: This bottle was outstanding. Really sweet fruit and great texture. Nice acidity keeps the pear flavor dancing on the tongue. This is an opulent Cali chardonnay. In a good place right now. | L'Angevin Producer websiteChardonnay The Chardonnay GrapeUSAAmerican wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.California2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson Sonoma CountyMendocino CountyRussian River Valley Russian River Valley Winegrowers Association | Wikipedia |
