Tasted by Dan & Patti on 6/15/2011 & rated 87 points: Good nose, midbody fruit present but not abundant, finish short. Not the bottle I tasted at the winery! (2358 views)
Tasted by Varus on 12/27/2010 & rated 85 points: This wine just didn't show as well as it did upon purchase years ago. I should have popped it long ago while it was still vibrant. Flat nose, boring fruit. Alcohol showed through. This wa nothing like the delicious gem sampled at the winery. Lesson learned. Drink Paso YOUNG. (2454 views)
Tasted by mr.spock on 11/8/2010 & rated 85 points: not very excited about this one.. maybe i let it go for too long and should've drank up while it was still young. berries with a little bit of a kick in the face.. not as smooth as i anticipated. meh (2802 views)
Tasted by brigcampbell on 5/9/2010 & rated 90 points: Mother's Day 2010 (Kim's House in Encinitas, CA): Blackberry and cherry nose and palate as before with smooth mid point but the finish demonstrated much more heat/zing than previous bottles. (3043 views)
Tasted by brigcampbell on 2/20/2010 & rated 93 points: Paso for Sam's 75th Birthday; 2/19/2010-2/21/2010 (Paso Robles, California): I love this wine. smoke, fruit and spice. excellent nose. blackberry/cherry everything else on the palate, great complexity and super smooth mouthfeel. not many tannis left I'm guess so drink up. excellent multi diminsion finish (4088 views)
Tasted by caboychuck on 9/20/2009: Black berry on the nose. Same fruit profile in taste with bright acidity. Lovely wine. Can not find the other bottle. (1470 views)
Tasted by MCUBEB on 8/1/2009 & rated 86 points: Alcohol dominates the nose. On the pallate it has flavors raspberry and candied red fruit. Alcohol dominates the finish. (1646 views)
Tasted by Zinister on 2/10/2009 & rated 91 points: Popped and started drinking immediately. Deep ruby color. Nose of dark cherry, blackberry, oak and a touch of earth. Good medium bodied mouthfeel...some astringency, but falls off as it opens. Rich berries mixed with cedar and oak...touch of vanilla and plum near the end. Very rich, full and strong for a Grenache, but you won't hear me complaining...enjoyed every bit of this. (1610 views)
Tasted by Brsed on 9/21/2008 & rated 91 points: Nice nose and color. Good initial fruit with a bit of astringency. Nice balance and finish. (1592 views)
Tasted by mike l. on 8/21/2008 & rated 89 points: appealing sweet spicy oak tasted blind at 30 wine tasting party (2233 views)
Tasted by kstoddard on 7/20/2008 & rated 87 points: Not real excited about the direction this wine is headed. Raspberries, cherry and earth. Soft, tart finish. (1648 views)
Tasted by grafstrb on 7/17/2008 & rated 87 points: -- popped, decanted, and poured --
-- tasted non-blind --
-- drank over 4 hours --

NOSE: Strong raspberry aroma set against a resiny backdrop; notions of coffee and anise peek through; faintly alcoholic.

BODY: incredibly fine particulate matter was suspended in the wine; hazy garnet color of medium-deep depth; medium-full bodied.

TASTE: This Grenache was made in the rich new world style, and to my taste it's just a little bit overdone in this regard. The wine is somewhat "roasted" tasting, on the whole, and it features flavors of crushed blackberry, garrigue, and a lingering hint of cherry. A nice measure of minerality keeps this wine from being unpleasantly over-the-top. The mid-palate is a bit weak, and the 25-35 sec. finish is a bit hot. This is not as complex as their 2005, but it's still good. Hopefully the 2007 bottling will be a bit more toned-down (actually, a more high-toned version of this wine would be better). Denner is one of my favorite Paso Robles wineries, but they've done better than this.

Tasted by kstoddard on 5/31/2008 & rated 91 points: Popped and poured. Could have benefited from some decanting. Bright cherry and raspberry fruit. Good balance. Nice texture but lacking a bit of the complexity in the finish compared to the last time I tried this. A very nice wine nonetheless. (1778 views)
Tasted by kstoddard on 5/24/2008 & rated 92 points: Pretty french oak on the dark fruit nose. Tastes of blackberry, cherry and earth. Beautiful complexity and depth in the mid palate and rich finish. Nicely balanced. 82% Grenache, 9% Syrah and 9% Counoise. 285 cases produced. The best Grenache the Denner's have made to date. Impressive. (1706 views)

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson
