Very pleasurable. (486 views) | | Tasted by gcarl on 4/13/2022 & rated 93 points: P&P thru Vinturi 6.5 years since last opening on 10/19/15 and my impressions are still similar. Color and nose are still terrific.Mouthfeel is velvety, and finish is looong! (467 views) | | Tasted by Janet Fox on 4/13/2020 & rated 90 points: Considering it’s age it was very good! (1020 views) | | Tasted by Janet Fox on 4/13/2020: Very good but took. Couple of hours to open up. (1047 views) | | Tasted by willfab60 on 12/24/2018 & rated 93 points: 1.5 Liter. 1 hour decant , back in bottle .Back in decanter after short drive and drank over 2 hours. Ruby color , very little sediment. Medium to soft fruit and virtually 0 tannins. Very nice, easy drinking with Christmas Eve dinner. Loved this wine. (1255 views) | | Tasted by Alex G. on 12/22/2018: Magnum opened about 90 minutes prior to serving. Round with smooth tannin, guessing there was a fair bit of merlot in this easy drinking wine. Tasty and good for pairing with beef and game. First time I can recall drinking this producer. (1004 views) | | Tasted by jfarley3 on 12/26/2016 & rated 91 points: Magnum opened and enjoyed for Christmas dinner. Mature and at its prime. Fruit and tannins completely integrated with some layering of earth, anise, dried herbs. Long finish. (1784 views) | | Tasted by Bowmanifesto on 6/29/2016 & rated 92 points: Spectacular last bottle. All the glories of a fully aged Napa Cab. (1537 views) | | Tasted by Bowmanifesto on 5/21/2016 & rated 89 points: A bit past its prime, but still gorgeous St. Helena fruit and texture. Slightly vegetal on the palate. Sadly, on day two, it was no longer drinkable. My advice is drink a bottle in one sitting while we can still enjoy a wine that was once phenomenal. (1552 views) | | Tasted by mdipietro on 2/13/2016 & rated 90 points: Same notes as last bottle Young and tight, will age (1452 views) | | Tasted by tdskier on 1/17/2016 & rated 93 points: Very smooth even after just opening. Like a velvety fruit flowing over palate. A nice long finish. First and only bottle we had, will definitely look for more. (1489 views) | | Tasted by mdipietro on 12/30/2015 & rated 90 points: Still good color and nose. Looks and smells youthful. Dark berry flavors. should continue to age well for at least another 5 years (746 views) | | Tasted by andyrowe on 12/26/2015 & rated 92 points: Comes alive, very unexpected at first, blackberry is subtle not forward, excellent wine. Putting the rest aside for a few years, drinkable now but has lots left. (675 views) | | Tasted by gcarl on 10/19/2015 & rated 92 points: First bottle I have opened since purchase 5 years ago and I was surprised by the glass closure. Very nice on P&P the first glass thru a Vinturi, subtle spice/earth/red berry on the nose, NO perceptible oak, which I liked immediately. Very nice layered fruit on the palate, velvety mouth feel, medium to long finish. Glad to have more in the cellar, but may have trouble keeping it around for its' long term potential. It is just too good! (688 views) | | Tasted by Bowmanifesto on 5/25/2015 & rated 92 points: Gorgeous Leonardini Cab. Luscious, lovely, lasting. (753 views) | | Tasted by cliffo41 on 8/19/2014 & rated 90 points: Some subtle raspberry notes. Tannins well integrated. Dark red to the edge of the glass. Nearly ten years on, still a very good wine. (1199 views) | | Tasted by Bowmanifesto on 2/13/2014 & rated 92 points: Another "February First Timer." I stayed in a Napa hotel with a room that directly overlooked the vineyard where these grapes were grown, in the year of this vintage. Memorable, magnificent, meritorious. Both the location and the wine. Indigo in the glass with ruby edges and moderate legs. Delicate aromas of terroir and herbs on the nose. On the palate, a sumptuous, silky texture lifts baskets of berries all across the tongue. Lovely integrated tannins and a touch of cinnamon on the finish. All at its peak now. (1373 views) | | Tasted by RoccoSydney on 12/1/2013: - Crimsom color. It's balanced with a medium body. Polished texture with a medium finish. (1544 views) | | Tasted by Wine Box on 2/22/2013 & rated 93 points: This is an excellent cab with many years left. It opened beautifully and was the hit of our tasting (1884 views) | | Tasted by bubbachumps on 6/10/2012 & rated 90 points: Very similiar to my notes from the last time. (2843 views) | | Tasted by silton on 10/29/2011: Best on day 2. 90-92. Hold. (2273 views) | | Tasted by cliffo41 on 9/14/2011 & rated 87 points: This is the second bottle of this we've tried. The wine is opaque purple in the glass. This stuff practically absorbs light. Dark berries on the nose. Dark jam in the mouth; a little earth as the wine opened up. Moderately long finish with some heat. It might be nice to see this calm down a little bit in the bottle. Decanting at this point might help. (2123 views) | | Tasted by prettydeceextrap on 9/14/2011 & rated 89 points: (B+) Thick wine, with somewhat granular tannins. Deep purple color with a rich nose. Boysenberry, blackberry, and a bit of vanilla and mocha. Silky texture. Well crafted. (2033 views) | | Tasted by ELH on 7/3/2011 & rated 90 points: Lush, dark fruit. Still has the feel of a youthful wine that has not quite come together. The tannins are still edgy and taut. Very drinkable now, but should benefit from a bit more cellar time. (1852 views) | | Tasted by bubbachumps on 11/6/2010 & rated 91 points: Super jammy nose of currant, dark berries and a touch of rasted earth. In the mouth, lush mouthfeel and the jammy fruit carries on the palate. This needs some time in the bottle, so the fruit can calm down. https://unwindwine.blogspot.com/2018/11/big-red-petit-verdot-for-serious-sipping.htmlCabernet SauvignonCabernet Sauvignon is probably the most famous red wine grape variety on Earth. It is rivaled in this regard only by its Bordeaux stablemate Merlot, and its opposite number in Burgundy, Pinot Noir. From its origins in Bordeaux, Cabernet has successfully spread to almost every winegrowing country in the world. It is now the key grape variety in many first-rate New World wine regions, most notably Napa Valley, Coonawarra and Maipo Valley. Wherever they come from, Cabernet Sauvignon wines always seem to demonstrate a handful of common character traits: deep color, good tannin structure, moderate acidity and aromas of blackcurrant, tomato leaf, dark spices and cedarwood.
Used as frequently in blends as in varietal wines, Cabernet Sauvignon has a large number of common blending partners. Apart from the obvious Merlot and Cabernet Franc, the most prevalent of these are Malbec, Petit Verdot and Carmenere (the ingredients of a classic Bordeaux Blend), Shiraz (in Australia's favorite blend) and in Spain and South America, a Cabernet – Tempranillo blend is now commonplace. Even the bold Tannat-based wines of Madiran are now generally softened with Cabernet SauvignonUSAAmerican wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.California2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson Napa Valley Napa Valley Wineries and Wine (Napa Valley Vintners)St. Helena Appellation Napa Valley The single vineyards on weinlagen-info |
