| Community Tasting Notes (average 87.2 pts. and median of 87 pts. in 5 notes) - hiding notes with no text | | Tasted by oldwines on 9/29/2018 & rated 86 points: The 6th Quinquennial Wine and Food Extravaganza (New Jersey, USA): This very odd "port" was less interesting than I had hoped. The nose smelled of cream soda and beeswax. The flavor profile was mostly caramel and apricot with a sherry-like finish. A little thin overall and lacking in depth. (651 views) | | Tasted by 314 on 5/18/2012 & rated 87 points: Lots of apricot. Nice, but not remarkable. 86--87 pts. (1419 views) | | Tasted by streykatt on 6/6/2009 & rated 87 points: Nice smell of honey and apricots. Served chilled is very sweet, light. (1520 views) | | Tasted by gdykema on 1/2/2009 & rated 88 points: Nose of peach preserves. Tastes like fruit jam on a cracker. Fairly dry finish, not cloying. Tasted at the winery. (1507 views) |
| Bonny Doon Vineyard Producer website
Bonny Doon was sold in early 2020 to "WarRoom", a wine production and marketing entity formed in 2018. Per a January 2020 Decanter article - https://www.decanter.com/wine-news/californias-bonny-doon-sold-430550/ - "Graham will retain creative control of Bonny Doon’s wines, but production will change from 35,000 cases of 15 different wines annually to just four wines: the flagship red Rhône blend Le Cigare Volant; Le Cigare Blanc (based on Vermentino); Vin Gris de Cigare (a Rhône varietal rosé); and a 100% Picpoul."ViognierViogner is wrong wine
This is nonsense.USAAmerican wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.California2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson CaliforniaNapa Valley.http://www.stagecoachvineyard.com/vineyards/our_vineyards.php Santa Ynez.http://www.everyvine.com/org/Camp_Four/vineyard/Camp_Four/ |
