Tasted by Bob23 on 12/22/2020 & rated 93 points: Lively at 13! Golden color, nice zip left. (388 views)
Tasted by rosenst1 on 1/14/2016 & rated 91 points: PnP. Light greenish gold. Intense tropical fruit aromatics. Quite thick on the palate must have significant dry extract with medium full body and good finishing acidity. This doesn't seem to have the finesse of some of the other Littorai Chardonnay bottlings but the vines were also quite young (2001 planting). Improves with air as the sweet fruit makes an appearance. (1619 views)
Tasted by rosenst1 on 11/14/2013 & rated 91 points: Popped and poured. Light gold. Fragrant nose of citrus and tropical fruits with a touch of butterscotch. Lovely balance on the palate; initially this is quite tight but then opens with air and the rich fruit shows, although still with balancing acidity and a bit of oak. I think this may improve further 2-3 years. (2332 views)
Tasted by DanR on 6/20/2011 & rated 92 points: First impression, on the nose and in the mouth, is smoky oak, and a creamy, leesy character- perhaps suggesting that additional integration time is needed. Texturally speaking, this wine is a mouthful of sticky, viscous chardonnay fruit, which seems to be a departure from the rest of the Littorai '07 chards, in terms of mouthfeel. Underneath the oak lies a bevy of exotic fruits and honeyed jasmine, all buoyed by a sufficient, but surprisingly reserved acidity; which from a chemistry standpoint might be at a target number, but is overwhelmed by the sheer intensity of the other components of the wine. Wins points for unrestrained hedonism, but might need a short spell in the cellar to settle down and integrate. (2018 views)
Tasted by herberto on 5/29/2011 & rated 91 points: Sweet, modern styled chard. Enough acidity to make it enjoyable - reasonably balanced in fact. Pretty well done for this style, but not the restrained style that Lottorai seems to pretend to. (1929 views)
Tasted by herberto on 7/31/2010 & rated 93 points: This is excellent, ripe, full throated Chard, but with nice acidity to balance and without obtrusive oak. A bigger wine than I was expecting, but really nicely done. (1434 views)

The Chardonnay Grape

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson
