Colour moving fromlight pink to orange. Nose, fruit perhaps lemon barley water and flower scent. Mouth, the lively zing of its youth has gone (as has the hint of sulphur which made me put these to one side). It now actually tastes pretty good; fruity and smooth. No flavours stand out but very integrated. This has come on a way and I enjoy it. Houchart is one of my favorite producers. These grapes were grown to make Rose, and have been for centuries. Even the color is a pretty distinctive salmon. The nose is floral, especially with roses. The palate is relatively light, but there still is a slight creaminess. The soft strawberry and red raspberry fruit is backed up with some mineral acidity. Roses and strawberry on the finish, with maybe some light tannins. (4831 views) | | Tasted by merlot78 on 10/30/2010 & rated 85 points: Pleasant Rose. Not sappy sweet like most American Roses. Nice color and fairly dry. (4247 views) | | Tasted by avp on 3/4/2010: Red berries, citrusses and peach on the nose. A touch of caramel as well. Dry, light and crispy on the palate with berry fruit, peach, honey and hints of herbs. A balanced and thoroughly pleasent rosé. Definitely pink, not salmon. Nose is more bold than the actual wine, nose borders on watermelon jolly rancher. Nothing exciting, nothing bad...decent rose. The Colour is very Watermelon Juice very with maybe a drop of red to make it a little more red? Also can be described as watered down cranberry juice with a hint of pink
The Nose: Day 1: Has the smell of Watemelon but the White Part, not the fruit or the green skin, Cranberry and a "Watery" Smell which I can deduce as minerality. Day 2: Almost the same but a lot more open, not as closed
The Mouth:
Day 1: Now this is Minerality, it taste like a bunch of rock and Chalk in my mouth and its very interesting to say the least. Red fruit, Good Acidity
Day 2: Now this wine has opened up (half of bottle recorked in my wine fridge) opened it and there was some pressure build up over night. Minerality is still present but toned down a bit definitly chalky. A Crab Apple meets Cherry aspect going on I guess its the sweetness that gives that cherry'ness but it definitly is tart. And a nice little touch of bitterness which is nice gives it a nice balance
Overall/Reflection:
The smelling like water is really interesting and cool at the same time. Good effort I like it when it finally opened up on day 2
Score: 88 A Very good wine, solid nothing bad to say about (2788 views) | | Tasted by hutch on 4/8/2009 & rated 87 points: Wine Marketing Tasting (Newport): Light salmon color. Pretty easy drinking. Very quaffable. 87+ (3892 views) |
