Community Tasting History

Community Tasting Notes (average 80 pts. and median of 77 pts. in 5 notes) - hiding notes with no text

Tasted by Barry Notes on 3/11/2013 & rated 76 points: PnP. Clear, light straw color. Ave nose. Dang, think I held this way too long. It had far more acid/fruit when purchased. This bottle was flat, thin, uninspiring and uninteresting. Drank one glass and the rest went down the sink. My first Anam Cara below par. Disappointing. $19. (1308 views)
Tasted by mkmast on 2/20/2013 & rated 86 points: A very solid wine but it paled next to the Brooks Ara that was tasted at the same time. I personally like my rieslings with a little more acid so this one seems a little thin on the finish. It starts great but just doesn't hold up. (909 views)

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.
