| Community Tasting Notes (average 92 pts. and median of 92 pts. in 9 notes) - hiding notes with no text | | Tasted by Keith Cooper on 10/27/2022 & rated 93 points: Dinner st home with friends featuring all wines from the 1997 vintage. Served to accompany veggie stuffed peppers starter course. Opened and poured immediately as not sure how long would last in the glass. Still looking fresh when poured into the glasses. Medium amber colour. Very dry, smoky, peaches. This has kept remarkably well and I think could keep yet longer if stored well. Excellent. Glad I have more (285 views) | | Tasted by focus on 3/29/2015 & rated 94 points: Coravined a glass...Classic aged riesling. Dark, opaque golden color; Nose shows apricot, cooked apple, rich, concentrated petrol, lively acidic, long finish. Wish I had more. (2325 views) | | Tasted by SimonG on 4/11/2008: Wine-Pages Alsace Offline (St John, London): Nice Riesling ose, slightly smokey. Good weight, on a par with the 95CFE. Slightly sweeter finish though. Actualy, this is really quite sweet on the finish. ***1/2 (3894 views) | | Tasted by andrewstevenson.com on 4/11/2008 & rated 89 points: Wine-Pages Alsace Offline (St John Restaurant, London): A very restrained, elegant nose, feeling a touch closed. Very pure, clean palate. Searing acidity, cut by a very, very slight touch of sweetness. The wine was fairly austere on the nose and quite thin on the palate at first, but after some time breathing a lovely floral and minerally character began to emerge over flavours of orange, limes and smoke. Medium to full bodied on the palate and quite dry with good acidity and a long, clean finish. (3194 views) | | Tasted by andrewstevenson.com on 10/29/2005 & rated 91 points: The nose is concentrated and waxy. Very powerful on the palate: very minerally and very concentrated. There's a touch of residual sugar, but the wine's characterised by its very good balance. Needs food. Very Good Indeed. (3411 views) | | Tasted by Will on 6/5/2005: A selection of Weinbach wines with Laurence Faller (Strasbourg, France): On the nose white flowers and enormous minerality (typical petrol nose). The wine melts in the mouth with again flowers but also developing towards impressive coffee aromas (!) with incredible freshness. (3816 views) | | Tasted by claudio_bxl on 6/5/2005: OL At panos and Edith (Strasbourg): With good color and glycerin, the nose of the 1997 features, flowers and a hint of petrol with a well defined attack, good acidity and a long, complex finish (pain d'epices again and minerals). Very nice and well made. (3401 views) |
