Tasted by mike l. on 12/23/2014 & rated 91 points: i love the dusty tannins and how much the oak and heat have mellowed down leaving tons of succulent high quality fruit. good wine! (1450 views)
Tasted by Fisk15 on 12/22/2014 & rated 91 points: Drank with Julie's family over Christmas vacation, from magnum. Resolved and ready to drink, needed an hour or so to really open up. Enjoyable. (1266 views)
Tasted by LCHammer on 10/15/2014 & rated 93 points: Agree with DavidandRose, wonderful merlot at its' peak right now. Doesn't get flabby mid pallete and finished long and hearty. Great with roast beef and potatoes. Best merlot value in California. (1977 views)
Tasted by tfesmgk on 10/2/2014 & rated 87 points: Either getting old or slightly flawed (1970 views)
Tasted by dougie on 9/27/2014 & rated 92 points: Lush and flavorful. (1969 views)
Tasted by davidandrose on 7/12/2014 & rated 92 points: I've struggled with a number of Pride wines since Foley's departure, but this isn't one of them. Dark purple pour, seems watery at the edge. Mature and sweet mountain fruit on the nose along with vanilla and light toast. Extremely drinkable with the finest-grains of tannin, more sweet/ ripe dark fruit, and a 10-15 second finish. Nearly ideal now, open by 2016 to avoid degradation. (2071 views)
Tasted by Steve's Cellar on 3/9/2014: - Garnet color and aromas of eucalyptus, blackberry and burnt toast and has flavours of eucalyptus, blackberry, black currant, chocolate and vanilla - Drank w/Kathy E, Kathy A, Besty and Sandy. Was good, but needed time to open and let the Eucalyptus lighten up. Was good, but not best effort at this point.

Tasted by ajfret01 on 2/15/2014: If you like oak, the you will like this one. A bit too much at the beginning for me, but after an hour it was very well integrated. Definitely decant before enjoying. (2606 views)
Tasted by curtr on 1/17/2014 & rated 91 points: Decanted 2 hours. Rich and smooth. (2095 views)
Tasted by MaximusT on 1/10/2014 & rated 94 points: Hmmm...what to drink with truffle & foie gras burgers? Many choices. Need to go American. A cab would be over-powering, however will a Merlot stand up to the richness?? So many questions. But leave it to the carefully cultivated mountain fruit of Pride. There was no competition between the burgers and the wine- just complete harmony. The wine is drinking perfectly right now. Soft and luscious tannins wrap around your tongue. Berries are first and foremost. Then a touch of sweetness - just enough to think of hot chocolate on a cold winter's day. Then a smooth infusion of minerals. Glad we have another bottle of this. Let's see how it does in the future - to be continued... (2750 views)
Tasted by mpricher on 12/30/2013 & rated 92 points: Really beautiful bottle. This Merlot is a Cab drinkers Merlot. Great dark purple upon pour, with a vibrant black berry and currant nose. Some floral effect. The mouthfeel was very elegant, smooth, and velvety, but this has some real strength to it, that makes it a lot more like solid cabernet. Nice dusty cocoa effects on the mid-palate to finish. really nice depth and medium to long finish. Really wish I could get more of this juice. Well worth the price point, in fact, so much better than most Calif Cabs at this price point. (2273 views)
Tasted by brian przyzycki on 12/22/2013 & rated 92 points: Just a great wine. I cant think of a better winery that consistently produces such great merlot. Kudos Pride. (1733 views)
Tasted by mpsocal on 12/10/2013 & rated 92 points: Great wine. It was a little subdued at first but after about 30 or 45 minutes it opened up. Aroma and flavor of berries. Nice structure and a long finish. Very smooth also. Delicious. (1726 views)
Tasted by SoccerMark on 12/7/2013 & rated 91 points: Still a little tight, needing some time to open (1501 views)
Tasted by curtr on 11/29/2013 & rated 91 points: Decanted 2 hours. Wow! Great merlot. Deep, rich wine that beat the 2005 Pride Cabernet Sauvignon tonight. (1324 views)
Tasted by sw92130 on 10/18/2013 & rated 91 points: Very good second night too (1816 views)
Tasted by davidandrose on 9/29/2013 & rated 92 points: Mountain fruit on the nose; with time in the glass the tannins and structure fade but the ripe dark fruit flavors linger. Will retaste tomorrow, but thought at present is to drink remaining bottles by 2016 at latest. (1909 views)
Tasted by Dasher on 9/3/2013 & rated 95 points: The wine was opened at the right time. Wow was it smooth. (2046 views)
Tasted by tfesmgk on 8/26/2013 & rated 90 points: Getting better with age. (1994 views)
Tasted by Schiffy on 8/19/2013 & rated 93 points: While I am giving this Merlot the same rating, eight months later this wine has gained more weight, depth and character. Wish it was rounder and softer, but overall, an outstanding wine. (1984 views)

California Wines (Wine Institute of California)

California is one of the most diverse wine regions in the world, with almost 100 grape varieties grown in over 100 viticultural areas, including dozens of different microclimates and soil types, as well as a very individualistic set of winemakers, many with international experience, which adds to and deepens that diversity.

North Coast

The North Coast American Viticultural Area (AVA) in California, covering more than three million acres, includes Napa, Sonoma, Mendocino and Lake counties, and portions of Marin and Solano counties. (see The Wine Institute for more information)
