Medium-Full bodied with a lemony wooly mouthfeel. Yum. (605 views) | | Tasted by indiscriminate palate on 5/29/2022: Haven’t checked into these in a few years and this is more brooding wine now, but still good. Waxy, orange, a bit of sweetness, mineral; fairly full bodied with tangy acidity. (534 views) | | Tasted by Callybrian on 10/28/2020 & rated 90 points: This is my first Chenin Blanc so forgive any ignorance. Not much on the nose but the palate is an enjoyable dry peachiness. (1044 views) | | Tasted by Krassens on 4/28/2019 & rated 93 points: A fabulous wine, great intensity and length, balanced oak and acidity. Apple, elderflower, chalk, slightly salty, awesome length. Highly drinkable. (1260 views) | | Tasted by B&PBaker on 7/23/2018 & rated 93 points: Excellent. Little citrusy on the finish. Great soft feeling in the mouth. (1620 views) | | Tasted by WetRock on 5/3/2018: Dinner at Basanti (Basanti): Expressive nose. Big, juicy palate in terms of expression but not in feel. This is still a touch of sweetness lingering and it shows a bit ripe. Overall kinda delicious. Very nice. (1833 views) | | Tasted by Frank Murray III on 5/3/2018: Another wine that has been a while since I opened a bottle, about 4 years ago. I stopped buying the Bouchet because my palate got soft and fragile but I still buy and cherish the Sec cuvees like Breuil and Choisilles, for sure. Blah blah. So this has been open about 30 mins, and I figured I'd taste a pour before I chill and take to dinner, where I may not get another crack at it. Big table, short arms I gots. My immediate impression is a touch warm (my bad, maybe it's 68f?) which gives this a more luscious feel, more generous and smooth. Taking 5f of temp off this I suspect would lean it up some. The color shows some gold, but nothing I'd say is advanced for a 10 year old Chidaine. Lime, ripe peaches, nectarine, lemon oil (which I think would sing better with the cooler temp, too). Finishes with a sweet-ish quality, all of that orchard fruit in focus. This seems to be aging fine, with no fade or ox qualities whatsoever. (1742 views) | | Tasted by Cote d'Or on 7/20/2017 flawed bottle: moderately oxidized (1719 views) | | Tasted by indiscriminate palate on 7/2/2017 & rated 88 points: Very much like my note from may 2016. (1544 views) | | Tasted by B&PBaker on 1/30/2017 & rated 90 points: Barely sweet, minerals and citrus. Beautiful fresh chenin. (1605 views) | | Tasted by beachbum on 12/25/2016: Not as perfect this year. But nice. (1470 views) | | Tasted by Gargantua on 11/4/2016: A far heavier wine than I expected, with honeyed orchard fruit and a hint of pear skin. A bit chunky, but hey, it's a warm vintage; so it goes. Still quite tasty! (1711 views) | | Tasted by indiscriminate palate on 10/4/2016: Another very nice showing; rich sweet fruit, waxy, mineral, and a bit of nutty, oxidized notes. Yummy. (1293 views) | | Tasted by indiscriminate palate on 9/3/2016 & rated 89 points: Waxy lemon and orange, orange peel, bit nutty; loads of minerality in the persistent finish. medium to full bodied. Just a hint of rich sweetness beneath the expansive mineral palate. Very nice. (1359 views) | | Tasted by indiscriminate palate on 8/17/2016 & rated 86 points: Fairly advanced notes; citrus and orange, but also some nutty and dried orange peel notes. Not bad, but if this is a representative bottle, drink up. (1247 views) | | Tasted by indiscriminate palate on 5/16/2016 & rated 90 points: Citrus and stone fruit on the nose. Wool and lemon palate. Bright citrus, medium-plus weight, nice round acidity, and a bit of sweetness. Long finish of minerals and saline. (1490 views) | | Tasted by beachbum on 12/25/2015: With Christmas dinner and I thought this was the best pairing I have found for a turkey with stuffing cranberry and apple turnip. The wine was dry, and but had weight with sweetness. It held up to the sweet and sour flavours. had some waxy lemon notes, really clean and is the perfect sipper. (1650 views) | | Tasted by christyler on 6/21/2015 & rated 90 points: In a good place right now. Took an hour or so to get going. When it did, it showed a much better than Bouchet bottlings I'd had in the past - seemed to have more weight and seriousness to it. Very nice. (2304 views) | | Tasted by wineshlub on 6/17/2015 & rated 90 points: Popped and poured. Stone fruit aroma. Rich flavors of kumquat, petrol, slight sweetness, balanced by intense tartness. Beeswax in the finish. Comes across as quite young. Mutable flavors, some complexity, firm backbone. Drinking well now, will most likely get even better. (1985 views) | | Tasted by GAET on 2/14/2015 & rated 90 points: Sucre résiduel 15.8l/g, acidité 4.4 g/l
Très bien (2239 views) | | Tasted by kuumies on 1/17/2015: A fairly dark yellow color. A pungent, highly complex and layered nose of honey, flowers, tangerine, beeswax and exotic spices. Rich but definitely not sweet, though with a savory dimension. Definitely a nose to remember. On the palate the first impression is that of mouth caressing softness, but quickly all the fat falls off, leading to a firm, focused finish. Medium bodied, fleshy and crisp, with a really nice structure. The flavors are definitely more restrained than the aromatics but delicious nonetheless, with the beeswax and tangerine notes most prominent here. Drinkability is really high for this savoury, food-friendly Chenin that finishes clean and crisp, in a mouth-watering fashion. Not quite as intense as the Huet Vouvrays that I've had but of similar quality and better value, I think. (2730 views) | | Tasted by Vinsant on 1/5/2015: A very nice match with Sockeye, King, and smoked Salmon. Rich honey, quince, Muscadet-like sea shells, and citrus. A good balance of sweetness and acidity. Has a few years left easily. (1981 views) | | Tasted by bajayngo on 1/5/2015: Nice big, rich and viscous on the palate with lots of pears, honey, wool and a bit of grass. Missing a bit of the acids on the back end but was delicous pairing with several types of salmon. (1790 views) | | Tasted by bajayngo on 12/1/2014: Lovely mature Loire. Beautiful reduced pears, honey, wool and mineral. It gained more a more citrus acidity and a touch of nugmet as it opened up almost drinking a bit backwards. Just a pleasure every time I open a btl of Chidaine. (1704 views) | | Tasted by Frank Murray III on 8/30/2014: Had this about a month ago, enjoyed it then and again now. There is some demi here, but the bitchen acidity and texture is so appealing that any honeyed edges or sweeter stone fruit is just fine. Lovely pineapple, lime skin, yellow apple and nectarine. Between Chidaine and Huet, I'd probably never frown again if I was drinking this stuff all the time--hard not to smile with wines this good at the prices they can be had. Lovely stuff.
