Tasted by ogres3 on 9/11/2023 & rated 91 points: Didn't rock me. Drank in Laramie @ wedding. (469 views)
Tasted by Michael_D on 5/7/2022 & rated 91 points: Drinking well now. Popped and poured. (1029 views)
Tasted by Birddog29 on 10/9/2020 & rated 94 points: Fabulous from the pull, though a little tight. This cab opened brilliantly and in seemingly no time. Flavors pronounced, tannins medium. Long 15 second finish. I am glad we cellared this one. Drinking beautifully (1742 views)
Tasted by Bcw1989 on 9/19/2020 & rated 93 points: This is the best of the vintage. Tannins have really calmed down allowing the fruit to really shine. Loads of red ripe fruits with a hint of tobacco and cedar showing through. Finish was impressive and really stood up to a long dinner. Everyone was very impressed with this wine. Enough said-getting more! (1658 views)
Tasted by eatdrinkrepeat on 8/8/2020 & rated 91 points: A little distracted by the whole pandemic outdoor dining scene but the wine showed well. Solid all around - nice nose and mouthfeel with still some tannin left to be resolved. Great with lamb shoulder. I feel that this is a more hedonistic than intellectual wine. Nothing wrong with that. (1637 views)
Tasted by libero on 1/18/2020 & rated 93 points: By now, this thirteen years old bottle deserves a full 93. (1941 views)
Tasted by Elkcims on 11/23/2019 & rated 95 points: Purchased on release, benefited from 2 hour decant. Just a lovely, silky multi-layered cab. (1774 views)
Tasted by libero on 9/27/2019 & rated 93 points: This 12 years bottle is extraordinaire, dark red, dense, lots of spaciously legs, smooth and balanced acidity, tannins and sweetness, with a nice, round long finishing. I am glad that I still have one bottle left. (1383 views)
Tasted by ogres3 on 9/16/2019 & rated 92 points: Very nice wine, drinking well, don't think it's yet on the downslope. Fairly dark full bodied wine that has great fruit but is elegant. Probably better with food. Pleasant finish. (1380 views)
Tasted by Delli on 3/24/2019 & rated 93 points: Purple, opaque and rich with sediment. The cork was perfect in spite the wine being 12 years old. Aromatic, fruit forward nose that's rich in dark fruit and a hint of vanilla. The palate is surprisingly elegant with a currant finish. A beautiful wine and incredible at this price point. 5+12+18+8=93 (1654 views)
Tasted by Genghis88 on 3/9/2019 & rated 93 points: It's been awhile since I last opened a bottle, and let me tell you that it's drinking the best it ever has.

Dark ox-blood, full bodied, high ABV.
Red berries, light vanilla and oak, pencil lead, wet wool
Dry, tastes like the nose although the vanilla and oak are not there.
Smooth with a medium plus finish. This wine is amazing for the price.
Buy this in bulk as a daily drinker. (1365 views)
Tasted by Forest Floor on 2/12/2019 & rated 87 points: Winter Winetasting February 2019; 7 California Cabernet and 1 Merlot Blind; 8 Tasters: Thought this might be the Merlot; rich, dense, alcoholic on nose and palate, but rather simple on the whole. B/B+ (1505 views)
Tasted by wine4me2 on 1/27/2019 & rated 93 points: Same as last note, drinking excellent, well integrated and smooth finish. Wish I had more at the $40 that I paid. Drinking well above this price point. (1347 views)
Tasted by mclanew on 12/23/2018 & rated 92 points: This needs about 30 minutes of air before it struts itself as even though it’s a second wine it’s is a big wine. The nose envelopes the senses with violet, cassis and black fruit aromas. The palate is full on black fruit, tobacco, lead pencil with pronounced oak influence. This wine is high in alcohol but doesn’t show it with reasonable balance and pure fruit flavors showing through. I suspect this is at the beginning of its maturity plateau now and can go for another 5 to 10 years at least. (1279 views)
Tasted by BM RWC on 4/27/2018: Nice. Decanted for an hour and waiter used a Venturi when pouring. Mellow and mild tannins. Subtle fruits (1676 views)
Tasted by ogres3 on 2/11/2018 & rated 93 points: A really nice wine. Gave it over two hours of air. Inky. Pleasant nose. Fresh bold black and purple fruit with a bit of pepper. Good finish. (1762 views)
Tasted by 32lakeviewwine on 11/18/2017 & rated 93 points: Drinking beautifully (1993 views)
Tasted by Pjzlotnik on 11/2/2017: great nose and bold fruit yet smooth (2066 views)
Tasted by wine4me2 on 9/4/2017 & rated 92 points: This is drinking exceptionally well. Nice balance of fruit, tannins and oak make for a superbly integrated wine at this point. Drinking well above its price point, I wish I had a case remaining of this vintage, as it should keep for another 5 years or so, based upon this bottle. (1901 views)
Tasted by aerosol on 8/13/2017 & rated 94 points: Sitting here with a glass and this has strong notes of cigar box and light hint of black coffee. The first sip was notably dark fruit, soft tannins, and a long supple finish. I agree with most statements below that a 30-60 minute opening. Within an hour, this wine was elegant and very balanced; it still had strong dark fruit, soft tannin, and a light amount of acid. My wife and I agree that this bottle was at the top of its game and I don't think any further storage will be necessary. Drink now and enjoy a wine at its maturation prime. (1830 views)
Tasted by Delli on 6/30/2017 & rated 92 points: See the last note. The nose and palate is consistent. Drink now. The bottle was excellent. The tannins have rounded nicely, the mouth feel is brilliant. On the pop it was spectacular but evolved to excellent after about 45 minutes and seemed to be fading. Luckily I was able to run it down. 5+12+17+8=92 (2089 views)
Tasted by mliszt on 6/27/2017 & rated 95 points: STILL A 95 REALLY NICE NOW ONE LEFT AND I DO NOT THINK IT WILL IMPROVE BUT FABULOUS RIGHT NOW (2088 views)
Tasted by walkerjfw on 1/6/2017 & rated 92 points: Next up in the forgotten bottles project. Big fan of Vineyard 29, only had a few bottles of this (their 2nd wine) in my cellar. PnP, one glass then slow oxed for about 90 minutes. The air time made a difference, wine was considerably more open and expressive.

Rich core purple/garnet color, mild separation. Nose somewhat restrained, dark fruits. Smooth palate of dark and blue fruits, blackberry, red currants, cassis. Tannins have softened since last bottle, long and layered finish.

Classically good CA Cab, great QPR (I think I paid $50). In a really good spot right now, considerably better than i remember last bottle. I think this is at its peak over the next 3 years. (2678 views)
Tasted by ogres3 on 11/6/2016 & rated 93 points: Inky purple. Very pleasant integrated smooth black and blue fruit. Excellent example of Napa cab. Nit crazy high end complexity but very enjoyable (2622 views)
Tasted by JonnyG on 7/3/2016 & rated 90 points: Too ripe and simple for my taste. Sweet red and black fruit, a touch jammy, loads of oak and precious little structure. (3455 views)

Cabernet Sauvignon

Cabernet Sauvignon is probably the most famous red wine grape variety on Earth. It is rivaled in this regard only by its Bordeaux stablemate Merlot, and its opposite number in Burgundy, Pinot Noir. From its origins in Bordeaux, Cabernet has successfully spread to almost every winegrowing country in the world. It is now the key grape variety in many first-rate New World wine regions, most notably Napa Valley, Coonawarra and Maipo Valley. Wherever they come from, Cabernet Sauvignon wines always seem to demonstrate a handful of common character traits: deep color, good tannin structure, moderate acidity and aromas of blackcurrant, tomato leaf, dark spices and cedarwood.

Used as frequently in blends as in varietal wines, Cabernet Sauvignon has a large number of common blending partners. Apart from the obvious Merlot and Cabernet Franc, the most prevalent of these are Malbec, Petit Verdot and Carmenere (the ingredients of a classic Bordeaux Blend), Shiraz (in Australia's favorite blend) and in Spain and South America, a Cabernet – Tempranillo blend is now commonplace. Even the bold Tannat-based wines of Madiran are now generally softened with Cabernet Sauvignon

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson
