Now, onto the notes: Light gold in color and had hints of tastes like apples, pear, a little sour apple, and carried decent acidity. Certainly not a top notch chardonnay but at the price point you can occasionally find it in, not a bad bottle at all. Recommend drinking now if you still have any. (4091 views) | | Tasted by edaumas on 12/10/2011 & rated 80 points: not so impressive (5376 views) | | Tasted by JamesKelly on 8/1/2011 & rated 87 points: nothing special ..sharted w/ sue over seafood (5637 views) | | Tasted by bordeaux4wino on 5/23/2011 & rated 80 points: When I drank this, I found it a pretty basic, but good straightforward chard. Lots of apple and pear upfront with smooth notes of honeysuckle and green grapes and a touch of oak, actually nice French oak, on the finish. It is indeed mouth filling and creamy. Very solid buy. (5523 views) | | Tasted by Susan Halbrook on 5/11/2011: With stir fry veges and smoked sardines. Quaffable. Nothing special. (2830 views) | | Tasted by Vegas Bob on 12/19/2010 & rated 88 points: Nice everyday white wine (3534 views) | | Tasted by trneumann on 7/26/2010 & rated 89 points: Oaky and smooth with short finish. 4 (3161 views) | | Tasted by MeetTheSchmits on 7/12/2010: Evan got this one pretty much to himself. That is what happens when it is a hot Saturday and Lindsay would rather sit out and enjoy the sun.
I enjoyed this bottle. Rating: Good to very good. (3178 views) | | Tasted by mcdevitt on 7/6/2010 & rated 84 points: A little round for my taste with little minerality, but some nice melon and apple. (3134 views) | | Tasted by bmancini15 on 6/25/2010 & rated 86 points: Overall quite enjoyable for the price. Crisp and fresh with nice melon and acidity. (3331 views) | | Tasted by Meembo on 5/17/2010 & rated 77 points: Hot, metallic, and tasting of over-ripe fruit...when you could taste it behind the heat. Little hints of dried apricot. Nothing at all to write home about. (3283 views) | | Tasted by SpiSan on 4/3/2010 & rated 86 points: nice fruit, lightly oaked, very refreshing, nice match with BBQ salmon (3330 views) | | Tasted by drdebs on 11/8/2009 & rated 90 points: Extremely well made, balanced, and affordable Chardonnay for $11. Aromas of pear, lemon curd, and apple are followed by a bright yet round palate with notes of starfruit, pear, more apple, and a creamy tang. More complex and layered than most at this price point. Producer website2008 Robert Mondavi Winery Chardonnay Private SelectionAccording to the winemaker, this Chardonnay was crafted from grapes grown in California's cool-climate Central Coast AVA. The nose reveals ripe apple, melon, citrus and tropical fruit aromas enriched by creamy malolactic tones, spicy French oak nuances and enticing baked bread scents. On the mouthfilling, creamy palate, rich tropical fruit flavors buttressed by toasty oak tones create a lush impression, which is balanced by a long, crisp finish imbued with the refreshing minerality typical of Central Coast Chardonnay.Chardonnay The Chardonnay GrapeUSAAmerican wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.California2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson Central Coasthttp://www.ccwinegrowers.org/links.html
