Tasted by rickv2wine on 1/1/2015 & rated 90 points: Wine is drinking well now, but unfortunately had this after a Hartwell Res '04, and this wine is clearly less balanced. The tannins are a bit sharp in the early body and some heat lingers through the finish. Sadly the fruit is already fairly subdued so in the race between fruit longevity and tannin softening, it appears the fruit is losing. I still have half a case of this, so it will be good to drink and see if softer tannins allow more fruit to come through. (524 views)
Tasted by JDV.DDSPHD on 3/13/2014 & rated 91 points: I liked this. Big and straight forward napa cab. Black fruit up front. Gritty tannins. Dark chocolate intertwined with hints of leather. This could go another 5-10yrs and it would still be in its prime. Long lingering finish as well. Not sure why everyone was rated so low but it was pretty darn good. (1419 views)
Tasted by Rweir88 on 5/4/2013: - Brick color with slow forming legs. It's balanced with a medium body. Round texture with a long finish - Dry wine with long finish. Big bouquet. (2349 views)
Tasted by Bjoneslaw on 4/2/2013 & rated 87 points: Nice big not big nose of black currant. Soft plum and overripe black cherry at the front. Oak smoke and anise mid palate. Long on the finish but with a metallic acidic finish. Deep purple in color well beyond a red. This one has probably reached its maximum potential and is somewhere between enjoyable and serious. A bit disjointed but with a very attractive nose and initial taste. (2289 views)
Tasted by Jim B on 12/28/2012 & rated 94 points: Had with a line up 03 S.O. Napa, 04 Regucsi cab, Larkmead Solari and this Newton was best (2626 views)
Tasted by Loren Sonkin on 4/1/2012 & rated 89 points: Last nights wines: Nice solid cab. ruby/purple in color. The nose has cassis, cedar; pretty nice. On the palate, this is good, not great. Didn't really get any better over the evening but didn't drop off either. A very solid Cal Cab. (3558 views)
Tasted by gwkozar on 1/2/2012 & rated 91 points: rich red plum fruit, soft tannins. not as good on 2nd day. (2940 views)
Tasted by Bandreas on 12/8/2011 & rated 86 points: Not a bad wine, but not really complex and deep. Somehow the wine was disjointed and never really came together. same impression on the second bottle. Maybe it should have been decanted... (2363 views)
Tasted by Mugwump on 9/4/2011 & rated 92 points: Beautiful nose of cassis, cherry, spice and oak; rich cassis fruit on the palate with cherry notes and dusty tannins; tannins are a bit strong now but should integrate over the next year or two. Decanting will also help for drinking now. Great value. (2407 views)
Tasted by Ben Christiansen on 4/7/2011: Pretty straight ahead Napa cab. Some gutiser tannins on the back. (2862 views)
Tasted by BigShlo on 4/2/2011 & rated 91 points: Huge legs- that's what sticks with me... a lot of fruit, some heat but mellows, and balance throughout with some length on the finish. Nice deal! (2767 views)
Tasted by joshwoodward on 3/11/2011 & rated 90 points: Cincinnati Wine Festival (Cincinnati, OH): Delicious nose - oaky. Structured. (2474 views)
Tasted by wino_tim on 1/14/2011 & rated 92 points: Smoky with a graphite-like edge to its lifted, and well-focused plum and black cherry fruit aromas. Soft on entry, this firms up on the midpalate, offering good intensity to its black fruit and pencil shavings flavors. (2852 views)
Tasted by joshwoodward on 10/6/2010 & rated 89 points: Nice structure! $55 (2053 views)

California is one of the most diverse wine regions in the world, with almost 100 grape varieties grown in over 100 viticultural areas, including dozens of different microclimates and soil types, as well as a very individualistic set of winemakers, many with international experience, which adds to and deepens that diversity.
