Tasted by Tairroirist on 3/26/2015 & rated 88 points: smooth bubbles, lees, grapy, acidic, citrus,

malolactic, acidic, stem,

slight bitter root (330 views)
Tasted by MartyL on 1/1/2015 & rated 87 points: Nice enough Blanc de blancs, but it just seemed a little tired -- certainly not the same gorgeous wine it was on release. Do keep in mind this was a 2004 disgorgement opened about 10 years later----While in my experience that little trick usually works wonders with good NV champagne, sometimes it doesn't pan out. (722 views)
Tasted by falp on 10/11/2014 & rated 88 points: not special at all (1291 views)
Tasted by konadog on 7/13/2014 & rated 90 points: Crisp apple, lemon zest, some fresh baked bread (1624 views)
Tasted by isaacjamesbaker on 6/12/2014 & rated 90 points: Brett's B-Day Bash: I get some sea breeze and lime on the nose. Nervy on the palate but creamy as well with apricot, shortbread cookies, lime and lots of minerals. Extra Brut. (1739 views)
Tasted by manonthemoon on 6/12/2014 & rated 90 points: Notes from a B-Day tasting.
N of tropical fruit, stones, sea breeze
P of pineapple, lime, stones, little bread
F was above average in length with good cut (1770 views)
Tasted by rocknroller on 3/27/2014 & rated 92 points: White Frenchies at Sea Change (Sea Change at the Guthrie, Mpls, MN): Light gold color. Drank 1 glass over 30 minutes. This was even better than the last time I had it, nose and palate are consistent; nice earth, nutty, delicate, brioche with citrus and tree fruit, fine minerality. Medium plus finish. (1954 views)
Tasted by Edson Santos on 9/2/2013 & rated 95 points: The NV (2007) Brut Blanc de Blancs Premier Cru Nature Terre de Vertus is another fabulous wine loaded with impeccable pedigree and sheer class. It is a rich, vinous Champagne that completely covers the palate with layers of intense fruit. This is a more linear, focused style than the NV Premier Cru. White peaches, flowers and chalk are some of the notes that wrap around the finish. The Terre de Vertus is 10% Chardonnay from Les Barillers and Les Faucherets, both naturally in Vertus. The wine was vinified and aged in neutral oak, and bottled with no dosage. This is Lot # LTDV71210. Disgorged December 2010. Anticipated maturity: 2011-2017.

Biodynamic farming and non-interventionalist winemaking are at the heart of Pierre and Sophie Larmandier’s impeccably run domaine. The wines are fermented with indigenous yeasts, large neutral casks are increasingly favored and bottling is done with no fining or filtration. These are some of the purest, most impeccable wines being made in Champagne today. (2541 views)
Tasted by Libiamo! on 7/3/2013 & rated 90 points: Medium lemon-green that belies its age (mine is bought in 2009) and intensity. On the nose, notes of bread, yeast, brioche, hint of mushroom. Very dry (very low or zero dosage?) vinous, long finish with a mineral edge and a touch of caramel. Slightly austere on the palate for my taste, but with great precision. (2351 views)
Tasted by Andre-Raafs on 5/31/2013 & rated 91 points: Value for money! Goud geel van kleur, aroma's van zoete appels, limoen en toast. Frisse zuren en een intens lange afdronk (2407 views)
Tasted by jwsmith on 3/28/2013 & rated 92 points: Aging well slightly carmel creamy drank even better next day. Pure wine (2898 views)
Tasted by mikeaukenbals on 3/23/2013 & rated 91 points: solid bubbles for under $50. a couple others i'd prefer if buying retail but a solid choice if its one of the options on a restaurant list. (2501 views)
Tasted by MattTM on 2/22/2013: Tons of red apple notes on the nose, along with aromas of lemon, candied ginger, toast, and a hint of tart green apple. Baked red apples continue through to the palate, as well as plenty of ginger spice, fresh lemon juice, lime zest, Bartlet pear, and toast. This has quite an aggressive mousse, with a long length finish ending on notes of ginger and red apple. Plenty of acidity is present here to help balanced out the richness from the strong showing of red apple. Very good (1845 views)
Tasted by CamWheeler on 1/27/2013 & rated 90 points: Very fresh and crisp green apple and pear with some light white florals.
The acid sizzles on the palate. This is very good in that ultra clean and fresh style. (770 views)
Tasted by Weston3220 on 12/6/2012: Trialo Champagne Tasting 2012 (Trialto Office): high ripeness of fruit Lime/Lemon, there is some 'RS" but could be fruit ripeness and I think it will do well with bottle age for sure it almost screams let me sit in bottle for couple years (2611 views)
Tasted by Weston3220 on 10/29/2012 & rated 90 points: A a nice rich Bubbly, Good amount of Autolytic with nice ripe Chardonnay fruit very 'easy' drinking and enjoyable, hints of flinty/smokey/mineral notes linger on the palate

Conc: Yes, please do love this producer [Tho I Do prefer the Terre-Vertus more] (2439 views)
Tasted by Tartiflette on 10/22/2012 & rated 88 points: (Orangeriet, Copenhagen) Not as impressive as last time I tasted it. This was evidently very fresh, since there was way too many bubbles in for my palate. Too much of a foamy feeling. Otherwise nice BdB with good minerality. (1966 views)
Tasted by Antti on 8/15/2012: No idea of the disgorgement date as I had this in a recently opened restaurant. Very pleasant BdB nose with apples, cream, minerality and flowers. Also bright and smooth in the mouth, nicely balanced and thoroughly enjoyable. (2707 views)
Tasted by godx on 7/10/2012 & rated 90 points: Italy 2012 - Piemonte; 7/8/2012-7/14/2012 (La Morra): Drank at Centro Storico in Serralunga. Lovely nose of toast, yeast, citrus and red apple. A round entry leads to a rich mouthfeel with a soft mousse and citrus and yeasty flavours. There’s tons of acidity here with a long yeast and mineral laden finish. Drink or hold. Excellent. (3037 views)
Tasted by Flavito on 6/24/2012 & rated 91 points: Fantastic bubbly! (2375 views)
Tasted by jwsmith on 6/17/2012 & rated 92 points: This wine really needs time to settle down and find it's groove.. Excellent (2176 views)
Tasted by Tartiflette on 6/7/2012 & rated 90 points: (Geranium, Copenhagen) Very crisp and mineral driven BdB. Beautiful fruit. Will look for it. (2145 views)
Tasted by elledeca on 5/13/2012: 2007 on the cork. apple and peach on the nose, a touch of oxidative notes. creamy and zesty in the mouth. did not stand up to the memory of previous bottle, which I remembered more lively, more lemon/green apple. (2175 views)
Tasted by slaton on 5/9/2012: Great bottle of this. Right down the middle, a very classy Blanc de Blancs. (2045 views)
Tasted by manonthemoon on 4/7/2012 & rated 92 points: Pacific Northwest Tasting Trip, Day 4; 4/4/2012-4/12/2012 (Milton-Freewater, OR & Walla Walla, WA, and Waitsburg, WA): Had at Brasserie 4 in Walla Walla, served chilled no formal nots.
Nice tropical hints on the nose with lots of crushed chalk and minerals showing.
Palate had an initial push of pineapple and ripe apple with a little cream then huge amounts of minerals rush in and keep it from being sweet at all.
Great cut and acidity, was very impressed and this went very well with our amazing dinner. (2428 views)

Winedoctor, March 2010
(NV Larmandier-Bernier Blanc de Blancs Premier Cru Extra Brut) This is predominantly the 2006 vintage, backed up by 2005 and 2004, and is sourced from Avize, Vertus, Chouilly and Oger. Dosage just 2 g/l (hence extra brut). There is a faint but undeniable seam of sweet apple candy here, and I can't get it out of my head that there is a thin seam of oxidation here too, although the sulphur use is a lower-than-usual but very adequate 40-ish mg/l. The palate has a nice substance, creamy and rounded, very dry obviously, and there is more of that appley note of concern here. Lots of grip at the finish. A characterful wine, although not one that appeals to me.  13.5 points

Winedoctor, March 2009
(NV Larmandier-Bernier Blanc de Blancs Premier Cru Brut) Current release. This is mainly the 2005 vintage, with a little reserve wine from 2002 and 2004 blended in, and an eventual 5 g/l sugar. The nose has intense, perfumed, rock-dust character, herby-chewy, but overall quite feminine in style. The palate is bright, stony, chalky and hugely characterful. It has harmony, and yet is vigorous and vibrant, with elements of nettle and blackcurrant leaf. There is substance here. An impressive and certainly distinctive wine.  17+ points

Winedoctor, March 2008
(NV Larmandier-Bernier Blanc de Blancs Premier Cru Brut) The nose here has a butter-toffee character, suggestive of recent malolactic I think, but also a rather volatile, acetic edge. It certainly seems very awkward at present although this perhaps reflects recent manipulations. Despite this character on the nose it has a fine presence on the palate, with a rounded and creamy mousse and an elegant composition. The aromas on the nose do come through onto the palate a little, but it has good substance and all the elements seem cleanly integrated. Very good potential once that nose settles down.  16.5+ points

Winedoctor, March 2007
(NV Larmandier-Bernier Blanc de Blancs Premier Cru Brut) A lovely nose, with honey, brioche and beeswax. Fine palate, rather soft and talcy, with only moderate acidity. Rather creamy, slightly foamy, lacks a little focus to be critical. But it is a crowd-pleaser nevertheless. Good.  16+ points

Larmandier-Bernier

Producer website

Pierre Larmandier shares a similar philosophy to that of Francois Egly of Egly-Ouriet. Working only with natural yeasts the influence of 'terroir' is all important to the style of his wines, so much so that he uses a minimum 'dosage' (if at all) so as not to mask the wines natural characteristics. Wines are made only from their own 15 hectares of vines, which are an average 33 years old. His holdings are spread across the Cotes des Blancs in the grand crus villages of Cramant, Chouilly, Oger and Avize, and the premier cru of Vertus. There are around fifty separate parcels, all but three of which (representing 0.5 hectares) are farmed using non-officially certified Biodynamic methods.

France - When it comes to wine, France stands alone. No other country can beat it in terms of consistent quality and diversity. And while many of its Region, Bordeaux, Burgundy and Champagne most obviously, produce wine as rare, as sought-after and nearly as expensive as gold, there are just as many obscurities and values to be had from little known appellations throughout the country. To learn everything there is to know about French wine would take a lifetime. To understand and appreciate French wine, one only has to begin tasting them. Click for a list of bestselling items from all of France.
Sub-Region:

Champagne - The French region of Champagne (including the cities of Rheims, Épernay, and Aÿ) was the first region in the world to make sparkling wine in any quantity. Today, the name of the region is synonymous with the finest of all sparkling wines, and wine-making traditions of Champagne have become role models for sparkling wine producers, worldwide. Surprisingly, the region of Champagne is now responsible for only one bottle in 12 of all sparkling wine produced. Styles of champagne range in sweetness ranging from an extra brut or brut 0, to the basic brut to demi sec to doux; some houses produce single vintage champagnes and others produce non-vintage (or incorporate wines/grapes of multiple vintages), often to preserve a specific taste; combinations of grape varietals; and colors, including a rosé. There are several sub-appellations, including the Valley of the Marnes river running from Épernay west, Massif de Saint-Thierry north and west of Rheims, Valley of the Ardre, the Mountains of Rheims (between Rheims and Épernay), Côte des Blancs, Côte de Sézanne, and Côte des Bar in the South. Champagne wine only uses three grape varietals (cépages): Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Meunier.
