Litt reservert duft av kirsebær, lakris og et svakt streif av provencekrydder. Stram og syrlig i anslaget, reservert og ganske lukket til å begynne med, men den våkner til liv med et stykke tørrmørnet t-benstek, for denne chiantien trygler om et godt kjøttstykke å bryne seg på! Her er mer kraft enn finesse, fortsatt litt uforløst frukt men med god konsentrasjon, heftig syre og tanninnivå som i en ung nebbiolo. God matmatch, men ideelt sett burde nok denne hvilt i fem år til. 90 p med potensial for et par ekstra. Powerful palate, black cherry, fine, grippy, dusty tannins, kept in balance by fresh acidity. After 10 years, this is still an incredibly young wine with lots to give. Delicious now, but I suspect even better in 5 years time once it mellows a little.
