Tasted by VoiceofC on 4/2/2015: Shared with 6 others at a Shakespeare in Delaware PArk fund-raiser. Everyone loved it. (282 views)
Tasted by blakel on 11/27/2014 & rated 91 points: Drank over three hours with a crowd at Thanksgiving dinner from a 3 liter bottle. Although I haven't had this vintage before, I'm sure this has benefited significantly from several years in the bottle. It's now not very zin-like, but is a mellow, smooth, surprisingly complex drink with a nice aged quality. The port is very subtle but adds a nice high note. Very enjoyable, and a good QPR at $80 for a 3 liter jeroboam. (594 views)
Tasted by hcnate on 1/12/2014 & rated 88 points: Decanted for about an hour. Very jammy and full bodied. The original port sweetness toned down significantly with time. Paired well with a fruity-spicy pork loin. (1697 views)
Tasted by ssoard on 8/22/2013 & rated 90 points: Much improved over first bottle. Very enjoyable zin. (2057 views)
Tasted by HWgeek on 1/19/2013 & rated 90 points: On the nose the port notes come right through giving hints of what the wine is, not a traditional Zin. Swirling to open the bouquet shows up alcohol, cherry and cola like aroma's. Tasting this on day two, day one was bit tight and hot. Now its opened up and there is some heat still but not unbalanced or overwhelming. As with another taster, finding some bright light cherry flavor with nutmeg and finish of black pepper and sweetness. Definitely a wine one should decant or hold for another few years before opening. Port is still a bit strong and time will give it more integration. (3230 views)
Tasted by Wicked Panda on 1/11/2013: Something off. Tried giving it time, but something was wrong with the fruit. Giving it time to air didn't help (3032 views)
Tasted by richardhod on 10/22/2012 & rated 86 points: Rather sweet for me, but a bbq crowd-pleaser! (3806 views)
Tasted by Wicked Panda on 9/28/2012 & rated 88 points: Classic Cali zin. A bit fruit bomb, but restrained without the huge alcohol that some get. Actually has a little tannin to balance, with that hint of port like raisin at the end. (2893 views)
Tasted by North316 on 5/7/2012 & rated 88 points: This just kept getting better over the three days I was drinking it. First day pnp through the Vinturi was still a little tight, too much port coming through on the mid-palate, a little hot tasting, but still nice fruit and a good strong finish. By the third day the port mellowed a little and this wine balanced perfectly. Nice bright cherry flavor with some soft baking spices and a slight pepper touch finishes with a slight sweet note and rounds out with a little acid. I think some more time in the bottle might make this wine even better, as it is seems like the port may not quite be fully integrated. Next time I will open a while ahead or decant for a bit.  Tasted by Bill1100 on 4/23/2012 & rated 89 points: Great with barbequed smoked chicken, spicy ranchero beans, slaw. (2456 views)
Tasted by Anonymous on 4/8/2012 & rated 84 points: Very nice with sweet BBQ ribs. (2369 views)
Tasted by merryberry on 3/14/2012 & rated 87 points: Garnet-red. Cherry candy, pepper, and carmelized sugar nose. Medium bodied, over-baked rhubarb pie, toasted oak, some grainy tannins, dark chocolate, and a short sweet finish. A little of this goes a long way with me. (2129 views)
Tasted by adams828 on 1/25/2012 & rated 85 points: Okay structure and flavors, but just too sweet for my taste. Seems like it may be a crowd pleaser however. (2466 views)
Tasted by Ajrod27 on 1/17/2012 & rated 87 points: This wine is drinking well now. The forte has incorporated fully and has developed nicely overall; off-dry, light tannins, fruit forward, enough acidity to hold structure. It isn't the spicy zin I'm use to, but it does have hints of spice. Notes of strawberry jam and berries (2663 views)
Tasted by Eigerdog on 11/10/2011 & rated 90 points: Very nice. Lovely red fruit on the nose. Smooth and silky, balanced tannins with a lingering finish. (3345 views)
Tasted by klezman on 10/31/2011: Good as per usual. A bit sweeter and more port character than I would prefer, but good on the whole. (3756 views)
Tasted by earuesch on 10/15/2011 & rated 86 points: too sweet. didn't work with peppery steak. maybe a good pizza wine? (3342 views)
Tasted by richardhod on 10/4/2011 & rated 85 points: Just too sweet for me, but it's good with sweeter BBQ sauces and BBQ meats. Fun, and balanced, and great fruit, but not my style.

Most people will LOVE This! (4309 views)
Tasted by hcnate on 10/2/2011: Strong fruit notes. Subtle spicy. Port element has mellowed. Looking forward to the next bottle in the future. (3445 views)
Tasted by discombobulated on 9/28/2011: very fruity nose; a little sweet; raisins; tangy; not quite as good as I remember. However, 1/2 of bottle sat on counter for 2 days with cork in. After sitting for two days, sublime! Wow! Anise and other flavors present and evolving sip to sip. (3314 views)
Tasted by Dirftmd on 9/7/2011: Dry and bitter, not enjoyable. (3594 views)
Tasted by bsevern on 7/10/2011 & rated 89 points: Uncorked a MAGNUM to share with a couple of friends on 4th of July during dinner and the after dinner fireworks show, and it was terrific! Nice red fruit, almost like chocolate-covered cherries like merryberry noted, along with light jam, and very light spice. Really couldn't descern any port, overall it was a very enjoyable zin. Glad I have three more magnums, it's great to share with guests. (4041 views)
Tasted by klezman on 6/10/2011: Seems slightly drier and less fruity than before, but still a tasty bottle. (4350 views)
Tasted by BlackIce on 6/8/2011 & rated 87 points: Consistently good. The Port adds a twist but a very drinkable Zin. (4260 views)
Tasted by merryberry on 5/5/2011 & rated 86 points: Inky ruby. Red fruit and spice fight to break through the port-dominated nose. Unsuccessfully. Medium bodied, rich, chocolate-covered cherries, cedar, a touch of pepper, and a dry yet sweet medium length finish. A good party wine, and thankfully it doesn't have the overwhelmingly cloy sweetness of the 2006, but I don't think I'll be buying any more of this brand. When I want a port, I'll have a port. When I want a Zin, I'll have a Zin. This is neither. (5110 views)

California is one of the most diverse wine regions in the world, with almost 100 grape varieties grown in over 100 viticultural areas, including dozens of different microclimates and soil types, as well as a very individualistic set of winemakers, many with international experience, which adds to and deepens that diversity.
