Tasted by jw200 on 5/26/2017 & rated 91 points: Very nice. Aged well, maybe slightly beyond it's peak but still a great wine. As always with Chase, needs to breathe -- best to decant it, give it an hour or so for its best. (1800 views)
Tasted by jw200 on 4/1/2017 & rated 88 points: Beyond the peak. Still needs to breathe, blow off alcohol. (1761 views)
Tasted by gibson175 on 10/16/2015 & rated 91 points: Great wine! Settled in nicely about 2 hours after opening. 2 more bottles to drink and can't wait. (2600 views)
Tasted by merryberry on 2/2/2015 & rated 89 points: Purple with ruby highlights. Cherry candy, strawberry jam, and baking spice nose. Medium to full bodied, pomegranates, highly extracted cherries, pepper, grainy tannins, smoke, tobacco, and a long finish. Drink up and enjoy. (2931 views)
Tasted by BklynNeophyte on 10/16/2014 & rated 85 points: Ok, but disappointed (2625 views)
Tasted by ebert on 5/27/2014 & rated 88 points: Good structure, full body, muted fruit (2848 views)
Tasted by ciesel on 3/2/2014 & rated 91 points: Consistent with my 8/2013 note. (2950 views)
Tasted by ciesel on 8/1/2013 & rated 92 points: Coming into it's own nicely. Very bold, with berry flavors upon opening. A couple of hours later settled down nicely, very smooth, the same berry flavors were present as a secondary taste, but nearly so much in your face. K liked the early stage better, but I really enjoyed after it settled down. (2752 views)
Tasted by BigSchmove on 2/26/2013 & rated 89 points: I like it. It's big and bold. Even though this is a 2007 I think it needs a little more age on it. This is a nice bottle of grapes. I will let it's little brothers lay down a little longer. and see how things go. Worth adding to your case. IMHO (2814 views)
Tasted by affordableCollector on 2/2/2013 & rated 88 points: ZAP 2013 (San Francisco, CA): light red in color. dark fruit, floral, pepper, on the nose. oak, plum, blackberry, tar, on the palate. medium tannins and acid on the finish. (3076 views)
Tasted by rjonwine@gmail.com on 2/2/2013 & rated 90 points: Dark ruby color; roasted plum, light pepper nose; tasty, roasted plum, light pepper palate with good acidity; medium-plus finish 90+ points (546 views)
Tasted by Innerducky on 11/16/2012 & rated 90 points: Drinking while waiting for 2007 Turley Hayne to decant. To be honest, much preferring the Chase, though decanting is helping the Turley. Chase is rich purple, smooth at first, hit of spice, berries, then a shortish finish. Turley (so far) is brownish, a little jarring to start, sulphur smell and seems to still need more time. We opened the Chase because we are waiting on the Turley. (2237 views)
Tasted by ebert on 10/12/2012 & rated 89 points: Fine Zin -- medium fruit and spice, not a long finish (2187 views)
Tasted by Steve.J on 6/30/2012 & rated 89 points: Smooth; lots of plum and blueberry on the palate; some spice on the finish that for a moment almost brought out a hint of anise. (2579 views)
Tasted by prettydeceextrap on 6/11/2012 & rated 86 points: (B) Chocolate, pepper, and a bit syrupy character. Nice with rich food. Not something to pontificate over. (1921 views)
Tasted by thecasses on 10/16/2011 & rated 93 points: Super drinkable. Great spicy on the finish. Tastes of plum, chocolate. (2527 views)
Tasted by BBinSC on 8/20/2011 & rated 90 points: Scored by a "Not a Zin" guy! Really spectacular fruit, impressive depth, long finish. Very silky, with a great flavor that lacks heat or prune notes. Very solid -- you can see why Turley uses these grapes! (2478 views)
Tasted by beezer6 on 1/21/2011 & rated 91 points: Napa Valley Golden Ticket Weekend (Elysian Hotel - Chicago, IL): Plush and fruit forward. (3328 views)
Tasted by ciesel on 1/9/2011 & rated 88 points: Consistently solid zin. High alcohol, big fruit, but refined. (2721 views)
Tasted by prettydeceextrap on 10/22/2010 & rated 87 points: Winery Tastings, October 2010; 10/22/2010-10/25/2010 (Mt. Veeder, Oakville, Spring Mountain, St. Helena, Calistoga, Napa): A thick, pretty dark zin with a lot of sweetness up front and some spice in back. Actually pretty well balanced. Not as deep as the reserve, but a real solid wine for a weeknight. (3894 views)

2007 Chase Zinfandel Hayne Vineyard

Winemaker's Notes: We have been looking forward to this vintage since it was harvested. Rich and full with lots of spice and of course, our signature black raspberries and cherry flavors. You will love it from the first moment you try it.

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

California

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson
