Tasted by Cellar3 on 11/3/2021 & rated 90 points: Silky plum on both the nose and palate. Finish is like a creamy plum candy, but too sweet and creamy. Best paired with cheeses or a meal. Not easy on it's own. (805 views)
Tasted by Patrickcro on 3/31/2017 & rated 90 points: Outstanding Merlot. Dark cherry, raspberry, cedar and earth nose and flavors. Still tannic and structured. Long powerful finish. Very god wine from great vintage. (2317 views)
Tasted by shellylowen on 11/16/2016 & rated 92 points: Decant for an hour. Silky tannins, medium-full body, good acidity, lots of cherries, and long finish. (2352 views)

Tasted by IndyTom on 4/16/2016 & rated 90 points: Very nice, soft but with enough stuffing to stand up to a rib eye steak. Made me smile when I took a drink. Wish I had more. California Merlot offers so much more value than Cabernet Sauvignon. (2623 views)
Tasted by redz on 6/26/2015 & rated 91 points: very nice, mild oak,, pnp, a little tart on finish (2611 views)

Violet color with blueberry, leather, graphite red currant, caramel and vanilla aromas. On the palate it's medium-bodied, elegant with great texture and good acidity with ample blueberry, red currant, vanilla and graphite flavors, and a lingering sweet finish (1967 views)

Ehlers Estate

Producer website
Ehlers Estate, a historic vineyard property that dates back to 1886, continues today as a steward of the land, creating wines that are reflective of its unique terroir and the passion of its viticultural team headed by winemaker Kevin Morrisey. Certified 100% organic on July 1, 2008 by the California Certified Organic Farmers (CCOF), Ehlers Estate crafts expressive and vibrant Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot, and Sauvignon Blanc from vineyard to bottle.

Merlot

Merlot is a dark blue–colored wine grape variety, that is used as both a blending grape and for varietal wines. The name Merlot is thought to be a diminutive of merle, the French name for the blackbird, probably a reference to the color of the grape. Its softness and "fleshiness", combined with its earlier ripening, makes Merlot a popular grape for blending with the sterner, later-ripening Cabernet Sauvignon, which tends to be higher in tannin.

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

California

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson
