Tasted by rustyRudy on 4/1/2024 & rated 98 points: This was absolutely beautiful, mature, balanced, lovely spice, red and black fruits, and holding up really well (137 views)
Tasted by ruppdavey@yahoo.com on 10/19/2023: Flawed bottle I suspect. This bottle has been been in the cellar since purchased from winery. The wine had a prune like smell, with some nice fruit up front but then followed by buy a thin prune like finish. 1st of four bottles and I hope it was a one off issue. (499 views)
Tasted by felixman on 9/16/2022 & rated 94 points: Decanted and tasted over 2 hours. Very young and showing no age. Wine was fresh and lively and had a Beautiful nose. A bit thin on the mid palate but filled in over the 2 hours. Wine definitely needs more time in cellar. Fine tannins with a long finish. (1109 views)
Tasted by vpoms on 7/2/2021 & rated 96 points: Appearance:clear medium garnet clean and powerful aromas that hit you right away with their depth and complexity: it took time to absorb all the nuance, most pronounced are raisins, black cherry, tar, vanilla, toast, chocolate, cured meat, mushrooms. Wine is still developing. Palate: dry, medium acidity, medium tannins and high alcohol with full body and pronounced flavors of prunes, mushrooms, smoke, blackberries. Finish is medium plus: everything works well together in this wine. Excellent now can be aged (1959 views)
Tasted by msuwine on 2/16/2021 & rated 97 points: Although I'm relatively new to Hundred Acre, these wines seem to have four common characteristics: they are (a) crazy expensive, (b) high in alcohol, (c) very ripe, and (d) medium in body, with a lithe and nimble mouthfeel. Yeah, the first three things are kind of obvious, but the fourth might make the ride worth the price of admission (maybe... kind of... it depends). For what it's worth, I thought this particular wine was fantastic, for its elegance and power, though I would drink in the next few years.

Cherry red in color, the wine offers an incredible texture that resembles a CA Pinot (i.e., lifted in the mouth, energetic on the finish, neither reticent nor boozy - which is crazy given the 15.5% alcohol). The aromas are intriguing - not your typical Cabernet fare - with notes of black cherry, cardamon, dried oregano, and cocoa powder. The flavors are forward but precise, with notes of mountain blueberry, fresh strawberry, baking chocolate, and trail dust, with a silky and energetic finish. Drink in next 3-4 years.

This is a singular, expensive, and delicious wine. I'm not saying it's a smart (or even defensible) way to spend 500 bucks, but I can see, mostly, what the fuss is all about. This wine pushes it all to the edge, but - assuming you don't fall off - that's a pretty thrilling place to be. (3761 views)
Tasted by GranadaPedroAlarcon on 10/31/2020 & rated 95 points: This is just a magnificent wine and drinking window is just starting. This is another great Hundred Acre wine. This wine is hard to find so when available it should be acquired and store for years of just great enjoyment. (2176 views)
Tasted by rustyRudy on 6/8/2020 & rated 94 points: Dark purple, gorgeous nose of blue fruit, overflowing with ripe blueberries! Just a little on the flabby side for my taste. Soft tannins. Had with grilled lamb chops. (2193 views)
Tasted by rosey on 2/14/2020 & rated 95 points: Great (1715 views)
Tasted by joshabramson on 6/4/2019 & rated 96 points: Very good, prime drinking window, great fruit and well integrated silky tannins. Certainly a treat. (2012 views)
Tasted by andrewdodd86 on 9/1/2018 & rated 98 points: All blue fruit. Exotic spice from the oak. Did well with an hour or two in the decanter (2107 views)
Tasted by rustyRudy on 9/1/2018 & rated 97 points: Took to Bin 54. Decanted at the table, drank over two hours. Exotic, blueberries, with wonderful aromatics, acidity, depth of fruit flavors and it just continued to improve as the dinner progressed. Big but not cumbersome , really lovely. (2661 views)
Tasted by Bcw1989 on 12/25/2017 & rated 95 points: Big juicy full of fruits! This is a huge wine. Dark inky black look to it and finish was over a minute long. This a just a massive wine. (2640 views)
Tasted by walkerjfw on 3/9/2017 & rated 94 points: Zachy's Auction - Day 1 - Pre Paulee (Le Bernardin Privee, New York): Shared at the auction, from a magnum that had been open about 20 minutes. My experience with the 2008 vintage is great a the moment, the wines all seem to be showing well.

Deep purple color. Nose was dark fruits, floral notes. Palate showing black currants, cherries, licorice, pencil shavings, coffee/espresso . Full bodied, lush wine, seems to be at the beginning of its drinking window (3804 views)
Tasted by Jimaronson on 1/28/2017 & rated 99 points: Smooth, silky, and complex. The fruit and tannins were perfectly balance. Full bodied. The wine has 10 years left. I did not give it 100 because in a better year the wine is probably bigger. Drink up. (3098 views)
Tasted by Cali Fan on 11/6/2016 & rated 95 points: Sumptuous dark fruits, dances on the tongue. Took some tim to really open up but it's all there. (2792 views)
Tasted by Cali Fan on 9/21/2016 & rated 95 points: A beauty! Velvety, ripe but not over-ripe, well-integrated tannins and held up well for a few days after being opened. Highly recommend. (2869 views)
Tasted by Rezy13 on 8/1/2015 & rated 95 points: Garnet color to rim, some clarity; focused nose of red currant, plum, bay leaf, cedar, pencil shavings, dusty, smoke, cocoa, much more restrained than I was expecting with lots of drive; more expansive on the palate but showing a very nice mid, mouth coating texture that is not silky but a certain ripeness to the tannin, similar red currant and plum, some cooked fruit, alcohol stands out just a bit, light cedar and strong pencil shavings herbs and cocoa on the finish; very nice, may just need a couple more years before it plateaus. (3886 views)
Tasted by Bcw1989 on 7/9/2015 & rated 94 points: Amazing wine again. Great Cabernet with tons of structure. Loads of red fruit and is very forward at the nose. Really opened up as the night went on. Long finish lasting well over a minute in length. Hundred Acre rocks!! (2699 views)
Tasted by Bcw1989 on 6/13/2015 & rated 94 points: This is some serious Cabernet! Deep dark unctuous wine with loads of dark red fruit flavored and cocoa on the palate. Finish was incredibly long. Drank with dinner and this wine continued to open up and gain more complexity. Fabulous wine for the evening. True "Hundred Acre" wine experience! (2613 views)

Tasted by Hoffer on 3/30/2013 & rated 98 points: - It's balanced with a full body with a long finish - Tremendous structure. Fruit forward on the palette but mid-palette softened to reveal nice complexity. Finish is long. Decanted in the bottle for 3 hours. (3772 views)
Tasted by soyhead on 12/29/2012 & rated 93 points: nose - port, raisin, prune
mouth - spicy cocoa infused dark fruit, rich massive, even hot. needs time, but has huge potential. (3388 views)
Tasted by beezer6 on 8/3/2012 & rated 95 points: Taste at Cut.
Oh my goodness. Limited notes but this was awesome. Unique bright candied fruit styling while maintaining elegance and complexity.
Great depth of fruit and baking spice coupled with some pungent smoked meat. Really unique Cabernet from Jayson Woodbridge.
So much exotic fruit and floral elements as well as rich Old World pungency. Great wine. Needs some serious time in the bottle too but with a solid decant this will do. (3696 views)

Cabernet Sauvignon

Cabernet Sauvignon is probably the most famous red wine grape variety on Earth. It is rivaled in this regard only by its Bordeaux stablemate Merlot, and its opposite number in Burgundy, Pinot Noir. From its origins in Bordeaux, Cabernet has successfully spread to almost every winegrowing country in the world. It is now the key grape variety in many first-rate New World wine regions, most notably Napa Valley, Coonawarra and Maipo Valley. Wherever they come from, Cabernet Sauvignon wines always seem to demonstrate a handful of common character traits: deep color, good tannin structure, moderate acidity and aromas of blackcurrant, tomato leaf, dark spices and cedarwood.

Used as frequently in blends as in varietal wines, Cabernet Sauvignon has a large number of common blending partners. Apart from the obvious Merlot and Cabernet Franc, the most prevalent of these are Malbec, Petit Verdot and Carmenere (the ingredients of a classic Bordeaux Blend), Shiraz (in Australia's favorite blend) and in Spain and South America, a Cabernet – Tempranillo blend is now commonplace. Even the bold Tannat-based wines of Madiran are now generally softened with Cabernet Sauvignon

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson
