Community Tasting Notes (average 85.5 pts. and median of 86 pts. in 4 notes) - hiding notes with no text

Tasted by jamieirving on 10/31/2010 & rated 85 points: Made from a blend of 61% Carignane and 39% Mourvedre. Colour is intense purple and the nose shows stewed berry fruit and liquorice aromas. The palate is rustic, as I would expect from these varietal, showing mostly savoury characters. Finishes with a big hit of spice and fresh acidity. (1897 views)
Tasted by jmoskow on 7/11/2010 & rated 79 points: A selection from the DEWN club. I was let down. Smooth, yes. Complex, no. A bit hot but the acids help cut that. But, it's pretty much a one trick pony of fleeting spice, dark fruit, and alcohol. (1758 views)

California Wines (Wine Institute of California)

California is one of the most diverse wine regions in the world, with almost 100 grape varieties grown in over 100 viticultural areas, including dozens of different microclimates and soil types, as well as a very individualistic set of winemakers, many with international experience, which adds to and deepens that diversity.
