Tasted by PSirah Tampa on 3/6/2016 & rated 94 points: WOW. White pepper and red fruit. Quite amazing! Plenty of life left, but no reason to wait. (2392 views)
Tasted by JimN on 12/24/2014 & rated 92 points: What a pleasant surprise this was at less than $30. Sitting in my cellar for a long time without tasting any bottles. In a great place right now. Bursting with lush fruit with a finish that goes on and on. The Napa fans lapped it up and the bottle was gone before I could get a glass. Good stuff. (2796 views)
 Tasted by mlp888 on 11/10/2014 & rated 90 points: opened 11-10
fabulous-it's what a traditional Grenache + is all about. Unctuous is a good start. Velvet, smooth as silk--I have no idea how others cellared the previous notes, but I find this wine exquisite, suave and debonair.
The nose is that candied fruit without the sugar that I love. Full bodied, mouth puckering dry, tannins just perfectly assimilated. Paired with a frozen pizza after an arduous Biz trip. Made the Pizza a meal. a 16 year old delight. (2585 views)
Tasted by beachbum on 12/5/2013: mehh (2975 views)
Tasted by DoubleMagnum on 6/2/2013 & rated 87 points: Decent quaff. Nothing remarkable or memorable. (3243 views)
Tasted by raggedy1 on 12/30/2010 & rated 89 points: would score this wine higher if the finish were longer. grenache character really shows through. silky entry, but again, a short finish. need to give it a really good swirl and air in the mouth to bring out all of the flavors. (2567 views)
Tasted by sirelton midnight on 4/19/2010 & rated 70 points: Over the hill at this point. Too acidic. (2554 views)
Tasted by dy_dx on 2/4/2009 & rated 89 points: Definitely suggest decanting for a few hours, as the finish was initially overwhelmed by acidity (palate of tart berries and bing cherries) and firm tannins. We saved some for the next day, and it drank much better. The nose showed strong damp forest floor, plus lighter notes of leather and tobacco leaf. The fruit had become all jammy strawberries with better balance but still a dry, tannic finish. (2552 views)
Tasted by beachbum on 1/25/2009 & rated 90 points: not bad wine, sandra remarked it was sweet, I like the soft rhoney spice and red fruit, has some smoke and tar, wihich I do not like so much, overall very pleasant with chicken curry (2320 views)
Tasted by jmh st louis on 1/11/2009 & rated 90 points: similar to 5/08 tasting but a little richer. (2075 views)
Tasted by bon vivant on 8/30/2008 & rated 93 points: Looks like RP's drinking window was way too short. This needed a few hrs decant to show best. A lot of funky aromatics on this one but the wine was smooth and delicous (1884 views)
Tasted by beachbum on 8/2/2008 & rated 89 points: nice, good with sausage/potato salad, showing mature s rhone character, not huge but very pleasing (1922 views)
Tasted by thirtyoneknots on 7/16/2008: Decent color with a slight level of bricking, nose opened up to reveal a leathery, meaty, earthyness with some black olive brine. Firm but balanced tannins with olive, cherry, and 'garrigue' on the palate leading into a medium length finish that had some tack room character to it. I think (Kenneth disagreed) that there might have been a touch of cork on this, which was unfortunate, and it's provenance was questionable, but overall an enjoyable if not exceptional Gigondas. (1975 views)
Tasted by jmh st louis on 5/28/2008 & rated 89 points: pleasant must in the bouquet followed by plums and cinnamon on the palate. Refined but enjoyable. Drink the remaining 2 btls this year. (1995 views)
Tasted by wineismylife on 10/8/2005: Tasted October 8, 2005 at an offline. Opened and served immediately in Spiegelau Magnum glasses. Garnet color in the glass, clear hue throughout. Nose of black cherries, plum and a little briar patch. Flavors of cherry, earth and raspberry. A lighter style Gigondas but it still goes well with Cassoulet. I’d recommend drinking over the short term. I won’t pick up any more bottles. (2538 views)
Tasted by xwine on 12/20/2004: Had this a few nights ago for dinner at "Chez Kelli." No notes taken, but Randy D. called it the best Gigondas he's had. Very nice wine, could easily go another couple of years. Loads of grenache tempered with a good dose of syrah. Balanced, lively and thoroughly enjoyable. (2794 views)
Tasted by OneLastSyrah on 1/4/2004: Blind Chateauneufs at Bellini's: 80% Grenache, 10% Syrah, and ?. Slightly corked perhaps? Smells monolithic with a strong suggestion of powdered sugar, not something I have picked out in wine before. Rich sweet wine…more a perception of alcohol than fruit. Eh? (832 views)

Red Rhone Blend

Read about the different grapes used to produce red and white Rhone wines
On CellarTracker, Red Rhone Blend is the term for a wine consisting of two or more of the traditional 13 Southern Rhone grape varieties. Typically it's the Grenache, Syrah, Mourvedre or Cinsault grapes, but can also contain the Muscardin, Counoise, Clairette, Bourboulenc, Picpoul, Roussanne, Terret Noir, Picardan or Vaccarese grapes.

A 'food' wine. Lacking pretension and intended for local consumption with local cuisine. Lacks the 'high' notes on a Bordeaux, more earthy and sharper so often a better partner to meat dishes with a sauce.
