Community Tasting History

Community Tasting Notes (average 94.8 pts. and median of 95 pts. in 14 notes) - hiding notes with no text

Tasted by dcwino on 7/23/2015 & rated 95 points: Urban Heights - 03 Cathelin, 90 LP, 97 Rayas, 07 IX, 11 LPV & etc. (Urban Heights - Bethesda, Maryland): Dense ripe yellow fruits, lemon peel candy, peach, ginger, mint and very strong malolactic note. Excellent concentration, thick and oily yet surprisingly well balanced, good acidity and long sweet slightly spicy finish. Really delicious very ripe but nicely balanced domestic Chardonnay. At he peak and no need to wait. (219 views)
Tasted by mtolerico on 7/23/2015 flawed bottle: This was slightly corked so it through off everything for me. Several people couldn't detect it but I'm extremely sensitive to the smells and flavors that TCA creates in wine. (30 views)
Tasted by Harry Cantrell on 6/10/2015 & rated 93 points: Pale yellow. Nose of flowers, vanilla and pear. Taste smooth, similar to nose. Good. (179 views)
Tasted by dougie on 11/9/2014 & rated 95 points: Special. Drank in Sicily with Wendi. (612 views)
Tasted by bonedoc on 9/6/2014 & rated 96 points: Absolutely outstanding, unbelievable fruit, silky mouthfeel, a touch of oak detected, low/medium acid. This is a true pleasure to drink. (838 views)
Tasted by jaylew1 on 5/6/2014 & rated 94 points: This is integrating nicely. Much less oaky than a year ago. I think in the next year or two this will be out of this world. (1126 views)
Tasted by kcp on 4/15/2014 & rated 92 points: I'm with Harry on this one. I too expected a bit more (esp given rep and price), though overall it has well balanced fruit/oak though leaning a little more to the oak side at this stage. Needs some more time to integrate fully. (1062 views)
Tasted by Harry Cantrell on 3/13/2013 & rated 93 points: Pale yellow. Nose was citric, vanilla, shy. Taste was lemony, vanilla, bright. I liked but kinda less than I was expecting. (1961 views)
Tasted by PinkMoonWinery on 2/2/2013 & rated 93 points: Delicious, as usual, needs air and should be drunk at cellar temperature, not chilled. Ten you have a rich, creamy texture and a fantastic nose of butter, lemon, popcorn, sooo good! (1705 views)
Tasted by PinkMoonWinery on 12/10/2012 & rated 96 points: Wow!! Well you have to love this style of massive fat Chardonnays, but then Wow. Orange zest, vanilla, buttered popcorn, all the ingredients are there.

One advise, DO NOT DRINK THIS WINE TOO COLD! Drink it at just below room temperature in a Pinot glass, that's when it gets in full swing. (1949 views)
Tasted by dougie on 11/23/2012 & rated 95 points: Amazing purity and balance. The creaminess was a bit forward, but mellowed over time. Very unique profile. Should improve with a couple more years. Very special wine. (1402 views)
Tasted by Christoffer78 on 9/15/2011 & rated 97 points: (Tasted in a flight with 2009 Antica Terra Chardonnay, 2009 D'Ardhuy Corton-Charlemagne, 2008 Kongsgaard The Judge and 2009 Morlet Coup de Coeur) This is for sure one of the best Chardonnays I have ever tasted. It is still very young and primary, but hidden away behind a veil of youth is a total stunner, a masterpiece. The nose reveals an intriguing complexity of minerals, wet steel, violets, apple blossom and gooseberry. The palate is amazing revealing a perfect balance between acidity, oak and fruit with a finish approaching eternity. (score is 96-98) (2558 views)

California Wines (Wine Institute of California)

California is one of the most diverse wine regions in the world, with almost 100 grape varieties grown in over 100 viticultural areas, including dozens of different microclimates and soil types, as well as a very individualistic set of winemakers, many with international experience, which adds to and deepens that diversity.
