Tasted by Jshire on 4/17/2020 & rated 90 points: 19 years and still going! With fig, current, date, and a hint of cherry. Opened and allowed to breath about 1+ hour. Very enjoyable. A pleasant surprise. (560 views)
Tasted by mraabpfg on 9/17/2008 & rated 94 points: Very good - tons of soft layer fruit great finish (2873 views)
Tasted by NuTricks on 10/16/2007 & rated 90 points: As my 8/5/06 note but time has softened tannins and I'm getting more cocoa on the nose. I'm also not getting the heat now. (3149 views)
Tasted by PeterTristram on 3/7/2007 & rated 90 points: Dark inky purple, beautiful full legs and a shiny disc.
Cherries and plum, with a deeper vibrant cedar showcasing a ending floral bouquet. Very soft with a little cocoa.
Huge fruit! Blackberry, cedar, and plum, followed by cinnamon, clove, allspice, and sandalwood. Very smooth and still some tannin. At 15.3% this is not for the faint of heart. Not a 91 because it became a little overpowering after time. A wonderful wine, for a fantastic price. (3404 views)
Tasted by BacoGeek on 11/19/2006 & rated 85 points: Not what is was cracked up to be. (3475 views)
Tasted by NuTricks on 8/5/2006 & rated 91 points: Inky black w/ aubergine at the edges. Smoky, black fruit nose. Beautiful creamy mouthfeel. Yes, it's a tad hot from the high alcohol (15.3) but still a gorgeous wine. Nice long finish. (3374 views)
Tasted by hutch on 6/10/2006 & rated 91 points: Pepper jumps out on the nose. Mouth drooling gobs of fruit. The fruit is almost sweet. You just want to keep drinking it, to enjoy that fruit. Completely, beautifully hedonistic. (1949 views)
Tasted by mj3putt on 5/15/2006 & rated 90 points: A characteristic full bodied-huge wine from Marietta. A high alcohol wine, not for the faint of heart. (2470 views)
Tasted by lshantz on 9/3/2005 & rated 89 points: Wonderful, but let it breath for at least 30 minutes (2305 views)
Tasted by lshantz on 8/10/2005 & rated 89 points: More robust than the '98. Drinkable now, but I think some time might mellow it. Loads of fruit, a bit hot. (2385 views)

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson
