Tasted by bdhanna on 12/29/2023 & rated 90 points: Well aged and tasting great !!
Near perfect cork easily removed from this properly cellared Sonoma County Zin blend. The blue cap has always been a go to wine, but how did it age ?? Apparently really well. Deep purple color with minor oxidation with excellent clarity. Aromas and flavors of blackberry, currant, plum, and fig with a medium finish. At or just passing peak. Excellent winemaking by Ted Seghesio. (122 views)
Tasted by kassim10 on 11/25/2019 & rated 91 points: Here's one that aged well and came through the fire unscathed. Deep red color with robust texture and subtle tannins. Great with food and ny itself. These guys rarely disappoint with their Zins. (1681 views)
(3093 views)
Tasted by Swan 60 on 10/27/2017: Strange pepper bouquet and flavour without the character of the 08 or 06. (2918 views)
Tasted by jarfour on 6/10/2017 & rated 89 points: Bit past its prime but still lovely. (4230 views)
Tasted by DPC on 5/15/2017: I am usually a big Seghesio Zin fan but, unfortunately and unexpectedly, this one was way, way past prime. Dumped it in the sink. (4353 views)
Tasted by vanpe003 on 4/15/2017 & rated 92 points: No detailed notes. But....absolutely delightful with a decidedly brambly character. (3290 views)
Tasted by macliii on 8/4/2016 flawed bottle: Surprised that this bottle was past its prime (4655 views)
Tasted by Dadwine on 1/9/2016 & rated 90 points: Really loved this. (6376 views)
Tasted by Life At Your Leisure 🍷 on 12/9/2015 & rated 91 points: Tasted blind. Translucent ruby color turning crimson at the rim with a transparent edge. The nose is sharp and tangy with notes of cherry, raspberry, currants, chocolate, cola and a spice that can be persistently felt. The palate is medium bodied with bright, heightened acidity and a silky texture. Flavors of currants, plum, raspberry, espresso, smoke and meat are acutely concentrated that produces a long, zingy finish with mineral-laced tannin. At this point, it seems that the wine has developed considerable age, and has reached its peak. It should be drunk NOW but could probably keep until 2019. 91+ (5396 views)
Tasted by napasoutherner on 8/30/2015 & rated 93 points: Romance in a glass . Elegant nose of dark chocolate and tones of blue berries. Mild tannis, cocoa, ink, dark cherry notes. Long finish. This wine is still humming (surprisingly). Glad I have one more bottle. (5855 views)
Tasted by fritza on 8/27/2015 & rated 90 points: ugh, passing it's peak...still some dark fruit but less pronounced, hints of dark cherry, even candied cherry, pepper is gone....drink soon (5567 views)
(4095 views)
Tasted by nick.dean on 5/8/2015 & rated 90 points: - Ruby color with slow forming legs. It's somewhat balanced and has flavours of walnut, black pepper, oak and tobacco with a medium/full body. Round texture with a medium finish. (2445 views)
Tasted by budh on 3/21/2015 flawed bottle: Off - not corked, but barnyard, minimal fruit, harsh. (2350 views)
Tasted by AURUM on 1/10/2015 & rated 89 points: Red and dark berries, cherris, something Italian in the bouquet. Warm, dark cherries, some sweetness, nicely balanced, full bodied, long warm finish. A very good Zin. Better then expexted. (2482 views)
Tasted by kreuter on 12/7/2014: Excellent (394 views)
Tasted by JSolo on 11/20/2014 & rated 91 points: Very good Zin. Consistent review for 3 bottles consumed over two months. (2823 views)
Tasted by Robwild on 9/25/2014 & rated 90 points: Deep purple color. Well balanced. Berries, cherries and plum. Some oak. Medium to full bodied with mild tannins. (3116 views)
Tasted by Peter Storgaard on 8/9/2014 & rated 88 points: Blød med lang eftersmag, benyttet til flæskesteg med salat, kartofler og en rødvinssovs.

Super at drikke nu, men kan godt gemmes. (3715 views)
Tasted by Bluecollar on 7/18/2014 & rated 91 points: Rich, plush, and juicy. This wine always pleases as long as it's had a few years bottle age to come together. Loads of black fruit, cassis, and a bit of leather, all held together by pillowy tannins and a medium length finish. (3481 views)
Tasted by cat butt on 5/26/2014 & rated 90 points: decanted for 4 hours - juicy, cherry, red fruit. good tannin balance, lots of pepper (3823 views)
Tasted by RonT on 5/4/2014 & rated 87 points: Bought this a few years ago at the winery but did not see it in Cellar Tracker. Drank at a party so did not take notes. Remembered as good and everyone liked. Still had years of life left. (3271 views)
Tasted by ziavino on 4/21/2014 & rated 89 points: Alcohol on the nose blows off after awhile to reveal aromas of ripe boysenberry and black pepper. The palate shows some heat up front, with ripe blue and red fruits, milk chocolate, a touch of spiciness and a slight herbal note. Hedonistic, yet interesting. (1042 views)
Tasted by Bluecollar on 3/6/2014 & rated 90 points: Big full bodied wine bursting with blackberry pie, pepper, and savory notes. Starts off round and lush but has a firm backbone of tannins that keep it from being to jammy. Drinking well now and for 3 or 4 more years. (3537 views)

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson
