Ripe sweet raspberries, a bit crushed, alc lifted sweet vanillin oak. Spicy nose . Brambly forward bold rich fruits, a touch of new world styled. Still not much pedigree showing . Loads of spicy black peppery notes and a but angular for now.

Quite tight with hints of cool berry fruits, pepper nose tickling and some crayola. More floral fruits than the 07, this has spicy black cherries, cool somewhat bright polished fruits and dry earthy finish.Good structure and showing much more potential than the 07. A good wine.

Expressive savory cherries, old coffee sock, some toffees . Very decadent nose. Balanced fruits with soft yet firm structure. Easy drinking but still preserving its structure and depth. Chilli dark chocolate on the finish . Very pleasurable drinking now and very smooth too.

A bit reductive soy sauce , funky greens, some licourice, savory chocolate, stewed sweet fruits, dark rhubarbs. Nose more developed than it should have been. Palate though was not aged like its nose. Still fresh, dark fruits. Ok but feels that it was a difficult vintage.

  • 1988 Paul Jaboulet Aîné Hermitage La Chapelle 89 Points

    France, Rhône, Northern Rhône, Hermitage

Fine aged leather, barnyardish and almost burg like with its earthiness, dark florals and undergrowth compote. A complete wine with juicy cool bright fruits of dark red raspberries, hints of spices. All nicely balanced and really drinking at its peak. Drink now! for the maximum enjoyment.

Durian smellyness, assiness, farty like preserved century eggs intermixed with brambles. Classic palate, rootyness and country dirt track. A hint of green herbs, tea leaves. Backward wiuth a bit of alc showing but well controlled. Lingering finish with aged honey notes.

  • 1982 Paul Jaboulet Aîné Hermitage La Chapelle 88 Points

    France, Rhône, Northern Rhône, Hermitage

Stewed cherries, strawberry fruits, dried hawthone berries intermixed with earthiness. Pretty fresh sweet and dainty strawberry cherry fruits , sois bois, savory leather and herbs, spices and has a menthol warmth towards the end. A little more acidity would make this such a tremendously good wine but already this is a lovely wine.

  • 1976 Paul Jaboulet Aîné Hermitage La Chapelle 87 Points

    France, Rhône, Northern Rhône, Hermitage

Low toned nose and not as expressive as the ones before. Spme gamey savoriness and funky notes shows with preserved sour plums. Fresh pure bright cherry fruits, black peppers, savory leather, menthol and mint. An aged but feisty wine that still has that syrah spiciness . Balanced and lovely in its age though the nose was really hard to coax out.
