A small group of Bordeaux lovers gathered at the Anvil Club for a dinner centered on Bordeaux. We set a theme of 1995 or older and ended up with a terrific lineup, and not a dud in the bunch. Thanks to everyone for sharing some real gems. The Chef put together an excellent dinner for us. We didn't get too fussy- just arranged the wines from oldest to youngest and tasted through with dinner.

1990 Nicolas Feuillatte Champagne Brut Cuvée Palmes d'Or 93 Points

Deep straw color. Aromas of biscuit and citrus, with subtle floral undertones. Nice texture with a fine bead and flavors of citrus and mineral carrying through the finish. Well-balanced with nice length. 93+ pts.

1990 Moët & Chandon Champagne Cuvée Dom Pérignon 93 Points
France, Champagne
Pale color. Initially this was a bit simple, displaying brioche and citrus notes and flavors of citrus peel, minerals and dough. It had a nice texture with a fine bead. Half an hour later this had opened nicely, adding a terrific smoky/toasted aroma and a Marcona almond tone on the palate.

Similar to the Palmes d'Or, but with some youthful power. Mineral, biscuit and and citrus tones. Medium bead, with a bit more weight than the two '90s. Grapefruit, mineral and floral tones on the palate with a nice finish. 92+ pts.
