I opened this 4 months after my previous tasting and not a lot of change. Still powerful. Intense overripe berries. Deep tannins with notes of olives and mushroomos. Let is breath for an hour or two. I'll open my next bottle in a year.
A blend of Grenache, Syrah amd Cinsault. Nice acid, dry and crisp. As it warms up there is sweetness in the finish which makes this a welcome change from other roses.
A blend of Syrah, Grenache, Cab and Mourvedre. 100% organic. Deep and powerful. A nice step up from their non reserve (which is also quite good). Olives and spice in the pallette. Very ageable.
What I particularly like about this wine is that it's spicy but constrained. The flavor is very focused on the pallette which makes this unique for me. Notes of cedar, smoke and a little spritzy in the finish.

1996 Château Ventenac Minervois 79 Points

Warren brought this wine back from a Canal du Midi barge trip. Simple red. Somewhat shallow and metallic. This wine sees no wood and it shows.

About the same as the '96 only worse. Has a distinct funk to the nose. A few sips was enough.

A nice range of spices. A little tannic but does not overpower the softness. Should continue to age very well.

This was the top wine tasted. Lots of layers of spice, hugely complex. Bacon in the finish. A really delicious wine.

Nice Nose, rough pallette. Could do well with a little more cellaring i think.

Deep and potent--really complex. Drink it now and give it 2 hours of decant time. Should cellar very well. Try it again in 2-3 years.

Dry, lots a fruit. Beautiful wine that should age well for the next decade.
