Introduction

Amazing impromptu dinner with Bob, Selma, and Ron. We had a number of great wine and an staggering lineup of food. Too much praise to go around...

Flight 1 (5 Notes)

  • 2008 Domaine Servin Chablis Les Pargues Première Cuvée 87 Points

    France, Burgundy, Chablis

Lemon zest, fresh cream, and minerals. Really nice chardonnay with a good amount of minerals.

  • 2004 Alban Vineyards Roussanne Estate 91 Points

USA, California, Central Coast, Edna Valley

Seductive nose of honeycomb, butterscotch, and French oak. The oak treatment is borderline offensive, but the purity of the fruit is able to stand up to the oak. Very dense white wine that sits on fence between delicious and "over-the-top". I would recommend a 2-3 hour decant on this wine.

  • 2000 Parusso Barolo Bussia Vigna Fiurin 90 Points

    Italy, Piedmont, Langhe, Barolo

Great florals with dried tobacco and smokey herbs. Really lovely wine that has shredded tobacco, ripe cherry, sour cranberry, and provencal herbs. Beautiful, subtle mouthfeel that I just loved. Beautiful wine.

  • 1996 Château Léoville Barton 92 Points

    France, Bordeaux, Médoc, St. Julien

Wonderfully dusty nose of coffee, dried herbs, meat drippings, creamy cherry and cranberry. Took a little while to open up, but boy was this impressive. Good amount of soy sauce, coffee grinds, rose petals, and wet underbrush. I hold high hopes for my last bottle of this, but it's already drinking very nicely.

  • 1989 Château Lagrange (St. Julien) 91 Points

    France, Bordeaux, Médoc, St. Julien

Lots of soy sauce, cassis, clove and coffee on the nose. Mouthfeel is really rich and youth-feel. The red berries are showing really well within this wine, and there is the potential to let this age for another 5-10 years. Really great effort by this chateau.
