Had some friends over for a tasting where every person brought a half-bottle of wine. I actually liked all the wines that people brought. I think the whites were stronger than most of the reds (unusual for me), though I enjoyed some of the spicy reds as well as the sociando mallet. The de cosse was a great bargain at $6/half bottle. Lovely sauternes.

2007 Saintsbury Pinot Noir Carneros 87 Points
USA, California, Napa / Sonoma, Carneros
Bit of smoke, lots of spice and fruit. Palate is a bit flat/acidic compared to the nose, and fades quickly with air.

Two hours of decanting. Dusty tannins, dark fruits. Subtle. Palate has strong but sweet tannins. Moderately long finish.

Really nice nose of spice, cinnamon. Palate is balanced, good spice and flavor and red fruits. Ready to drink now, and drinks above it's price point though it fades very quickly in the glass.

2006 Château de Cosse 85 Points
France, Bordeaux, Sauternais, Sauternes
Lovely aromas of apricot, great sweetness and flavor. A bit alcoholic and not particularly complex, and the palate lacks the explosive fruit that I love in the best sauternes. Bit of a short finish. Still, scratches the sauternes itch and is a stellar value and a lovely wine.
I bought a case (24) of these, and I'm planning on drinking them over the next 3-4 years (>6/yr).
