Really nice and mature, caramel, rich, fantastic smell. Holding on quite well.

Beautiful balance and acidity, slight tomato/bloody mary on the nose which seemed to blow off after a while. Super with the open lasagne of queen scallops & yellow chanterelles, wild mushrooms foam and truffle oil.

This was served blind. It was originally a little cold which muted the nose. However the touch of oak was beautiful integrated. Initially mistaken for a white Burgundy however as it warmed up it started giving off its classic Sauvignon Blanc nose and was first thought to be a Didier Dagueneau but transpired to be a Dog Point SB. A very nice wine and atypical NZ SB. My first quess was Greywacke Wild Sauvignon but I went the Burgundy route after that and got it wrong.

Super wine on the nose, love the Semilion but it doesn't deliver on the palate, I think it is a touch flabby. A touch more acidity and it would be super. Lovely yellow colour.

Opened and decanted. Served a little cold. Took a while to open up, this is a classy wine. Fantastic precision, acidity and balance. Would love to have a case of this tooked away. Long life ahead of it. If you have a good few of these open one up and enjoy, other wise wait. Served with John Dory with tea-smoked duck, fondant potato, fennel puree and bordelaise sauce.

This had been standing up all week unfortunately it was a little cloudy. Lots of tomato/bloody mary on the nose. This is either at its peak or on the way down. Probably has seen better days, or just not the best bottle?

This was my favourite red of the night. So young for a 21 year old Burgundy. Lovely acidity and super concentration, very un-Burgundy like?

This was my first time having a First Growth, I was really looking forward to it, however I had three other flights before this one, (1 Champagne flight, 1 White and 1 Red Burgundy Flight). I struggled a little to differentiate between the '89 Cos and this. Maybe next time on it's own I might have more time to enjoy.

I have had the '88 Cos before about 10 years ago and it was super. I was really looking forward to this, however I had three other flights before this one, (1 Champagne flight, 1 White and 1 Red Burgundy Flight). I struggled a little to differentiate between the '88 Haut Brion and this.

Super yellow colour. Was hoping to get that decadance you get from a great Sauternes but it didn't deliver. The last of 5 flights and the 13th of 14 wines on the night. My palate was a little tired at this stage.

Petrol on then nose and not too much. Quite a light colour compared to a Huet Vouvray of the same vintage. Served with decadent chocolate fondant and nougat ice-cream.

NV Bruno Paillard Champagne Blanc de Blancs Brut
France, Champagne
Slightly low in acidity, dropped off rather quickly and lost all its bubbles.
