Introduction

Sib, Blaine, Jeursha, Prisc and Don got together in Paoli, PA for a night of great wine and great food. Started with a salad of tomatoes and mozarella, a caesar salad, the we had homeade bread and filet mignon with sauteed mushrooms, onions and garlicon top. Bleu cheese and chocolate macadamia nuts for dessert. The wines showed wonderfully, and the conversation was great. One of those nights where it's all in sync.

  • 2004 Kosta Browne Pinot Noir Cohn 91 Points

USA, California, Sonoma County, Russian River Valley

    (4/1/2011)

Nose of sweet berries, layered red fruit, hints of black tea and spice. Soft tannins and medium acid. Bright cherries, cola. Rich but still light on its feet. Creamy finish. Tannins are softening up. I'd say drink now, but I enjoyed tasting this at this age. It was better two years ago so it's not my usual kosta browne experience, but it's still really good.

    France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Châteauneuf-du-Pape

Nose is incredibly complex. Olive tapenade galore, currants, pepper and an aroma that reminds me of an oyster shack. Gorgeous liqeur, kirsch and barnyard. The palate is bright with acid and the tannins are sturdy. Olive tapenade on top of black currants with tobacco, pepper and rawhide. Gorgeous finish. The balance on this wine is truly remarkable. What a beauty.

bright garnet color. there's a warmth and darkness to the nose, with dense currant and blackberries. the fruit is full and gushing, currants, black cherries and vanilla cola. fine tannins keep it balanced. thick and big, but is also just downright yummy.
