This was Mon's time to step up and follow up on Part II of the intial tasting he and Bruce first conceived 2 months ago. We rate our wines on the 20 pt. scale. Mon initially set us up for a Olive Oil tasting of 3 oils. The first was from Spain (Arbequina L'Esornell, Catalonia 2009/2010), second was Maraiolo (85%) and Liccino (15%) Marfuga, Umbria, Italy 2010 and last was the Mission Mannanillo and Barouni, Stonehouse Olio Santo, Oroville, CA 2010. What an interesting way to begin the evening and it did set the next course up as a theme.
All wines were double decanted ranging from 1-3 hours before serving.
Octopus, Picholine, Chorizo and Pizuillo with the Oils.
The theme was like above, Spain, Italy and USA. Served Prawn with Truffle, corn and Pea's
Smoked Duck with Chippolini, Cherries and Black Garlic
Lamb with Grapes, Mint and Cucumber
FOIE with Mango, Pineapple and Macadamia nuts.
Dale Levitski and Sara Nguyen did a wonderful presentation of food that match the wines. The Pichon Baron is a wine to buy as it is so big and bold. Thank you MON!
1996 Jacquesson & Fils Champagne Brut Millésimé 94 Points
France, Champagne
