Pale yellow color. Exciting aromas of white pears, peaches, fruit core, slate and perfume. Pure, delicious, juicy white fruits, pears, lychee, and melon. Broader notes on the midpalate and finish with perfume, flowers, slate, bitter fruit core and first hints of petrol. Overall extremely pure and refined, while possibly still having some in reserve for later development stages.
Medium yellow color. Aromas of wine gums, fat yellow fruit and a bit of herbs or pine wood. Very intense fruit on the palate, loads of fully ripe yellow plums and wine gums. More herbaceous on the midpalate and framed by burned sugar and caramel on the finish. I would have liked a bit more acidity, but overall drinking very well.
Medium red color. Compote of strawberry and rhubarb, and licorice on the full-throttle nose. Jammy, juicy red fruit on the palate, with loads of concentrated and intense strawberry, rhubarb and cherry, followed by licorice and chew tobacco on the finish. Great length.
France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Châteauneuf-du-Pape
Dark red color. Potent, port-like aromas with ripe dark fruits, dried cherries and some browning apple. More exciting on the palate with intense and concentrate fruit, fresh and ripe cherries and plums. Very potent, yet with a refreshing coolness underneath. Good acidity balance, although it is dry on the finish. Not certain where this is going, but I am a bit worried about the dried nose and dry finish. I will save my last bottle for a few more years and hope for the best.
France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Châteauneuf-du-Pape
Dark red color with a red hue. Pure, clean aromas with cool dark fruit, raspberries, some warm stones, Amaretto and spices. Delicious and juicy fruit on the full-bodied palate, dark berries and raspberry, followed by some spices, dried meat and bitterness. Slightly dry on the finish and generally a rustic texture.
Black color with a bluish rim. Explosive nose with loads of black fruit, blackcurrant, morello, graphite, medicine closet and lots of oak, coffee, chocolate, vanilla and coconut. Similar impression on the palate with very concentrated and powerful primary fruit, blackcurrant, morello and fruit liqueur. Intense and great length, where the oak kicks in. Violent tannins, but the texture is not brutal, the oak frames the structure very well, as well as adding creamy caramel, coffee and chocolate notes on the finish.
Medium yellow color. Ripe and windfall red apples, autumn pears, yeast, bread and beer on the nose. Some oxidative notes on the palate with ripe fruit, red and green apples. The midpalate and finish follows up with more masculine notes of rye bread and bitter almonds. Vanilla-flavored cookies on tops of the palate and gives this a in your face drinkability.
